Not bad. Way better than the retros they have now :)
I really hope we get a Cyber Sub-Zero and MK3 Shang Tsung eventually.

Ah, MK fans.... gotta love them.

NRS: "Hey guys! We're giving you this for FREE!"

"You said you wanted this outfit, right?"

MK fans: "Ugh! I don't want that! Give me different free stuff! Why aren't you giving us better free stuff?"

It's like when Valve joked they could put $20 in a box, sell it for $10, and people would still complain about something.

I'm sure Sonya and others will get their turn... but until then, I'm glad to see MK2-era ninja girls getting some long-haired lovin'.

Too bad her model will look NOTHING like that in-game. It will look bulky, and the hair will be just as shitty as her current one. Bye!

I'm not saying we are not going to get them, I'm just saying we are not going to get them for free and that it was pretty obvious that these classics were going to be Kitana and Jade.

Cyrax and Sektor were free. So why shouldn't we expect them to give us something different that aren't just the standard ninja palette swaps?

Instead from NRS we get "Remember those two characters we just got classics for a few weeks ago? WELL HERE'S MORE! Oh hush, i know there's more than 25 characters in the game. But we wanted to release every classic for these 10 and leave the rest out to dry. One for each character? What? No way! How about 5 for these three and none for these 15? Yeah."

Granted, I dont really care enough to get mad about it, and it's free so I won't truly complain. I just think the MKII ninjas looked stupid and I think this is bad business. Make the customer happy. Everyone outside of the Kitana and Jade (and eventually Mileena) fanatics wants a variety.

I can't @ anyone who thought this would be MK3 Subby, MK3 Sonya or anyone but palette-swapped ninjas. NRS' greedy ass would never.

You're isolating and misinterpreting a very small part of what I said. And there's really no reason to call me "f*cking retarded" over it... hope I see some skulls on that in the near future...

Anyway...

Of COURSE free stuff pleases people. Duh.

That said, pleasing us is still not NRS primary objective with the free compatability packs. Their goal is to get people to keep their games up to date. Doing so ensures their online community stays united, and their game stays fun and viable that much longer. Other games that haven't offered compatability packs split their online communites, to the point where online versus was no longer fun, and the online aspect died out. Thus making less people want to play their game, and hurting their longterm sales.

I say again, these free compatability packs are NOT about pleasing us. They're a free carrot on a stick to tempt us into patching our games, which is what NRS ACTUALLY wants.

The fact that we enjoy carrots is just an added bonus. For us and for them.

lol, still retarded. You think because cynicism pays off you have some sort of insight? This just in guys! Free content = villainous ulterior motives! Online games with optional dlc content declared unfun and unplayed! Do you know how many other publishers do this exact same thing without providing any free incentive? Here's a hint: All of them.

If NRS wanted to encourage patching, they would have just made it mandatory. The encouragement is you not being the one douche in the KOTH room who doesn't have the latest character so nobody can use him, not the weeks of development time and money that went into modeling and animating new costumes.

For the record, this is why publishers treat dlc customers like dog shit. Because no matter what they do, the product still sells but the consumers treat them like bad guys. NRS / WB gains absolutely nothing by releasing any game content for completely free. Not a thing.

If you can't see this as anything other than a concession, you are truly a sad cynical creature, and you have my pity.

Would have preffered Mileena's costume instead of Jade's, but none the less I am chuffed to get Kitana's MK2 retro. Fingers crossed it comes with her classic kiss fatality :)

Cyrax and Sektor are palette swaps.

I never said that you shouldn't expect something different that aren't just the standard palette swaps. I know NRS will eventually release classics for the rest of the cast, unique to each one of them. What I did said was that you shouldn't expect them to be free.

When more UMK3 outfits will be released, then I'll be interested. Sure, cool, more free outfits, yippee... I just don't like the MK!/MK2 outfits very much.

If anything is obvious, it'd be more along the lines of MK2 Mileena and Cyber Sub Zero, with Cyber Smoke being the fighter (since DLC fighters currently aren't getting alts).

I honestly do not understand why 90% of you all want Kitana and Jade when they already have a retro. It doesn't make sense that they would give another retro to 2 characters that already have one. And half of you are so certain that it is. And in my opinion, the MK2 costumes are very bland, and the only difference between MK2 and MK3 is the pretty much the cleavage.

I believe it might be Sonya and Unmasked Sub-zero (for CSZ). even though regular sub-zero already has a retro, i think unmasked MK3 is plausible. And most of you also say "from a business point of view, palette swaps make sense" but an MK2 costume for jade and kitana would still need to be made from scratch (or just use MK3 retros for a template and then cover up the cleavage) just like a sonya costume would. Only differene is they could palette swap the colour, whereas with sonya and sub they would be making 2 costumes from scratch rather than 1.

First of all, the MK2 ninjette skin is already done. It has been done for a while now.

The MK2 costumes were confirmed, so no non-palette swaps.

And lastly, I do not, nor did not want these atrocious costumes.

I don't doubt that they've been made and will probably be released. What I don't understand is
1. why? they are bland and look ugly and kitana and jade already have retros.
2. why do so many people want them, in my opinion MK3 Ninjaettes > MK2 Ninjaettes... by a long shot.

Blueberry and Lime probably will be kitana and jade, which is disappointing. Sonya and Unmasked Sub would've been not only way better, but alot more popular and wanted than yet another retro for 2 characters that already have them. I guess we'll know tomorrow wont we.

It's more likely that than a seperate character, which isn't happening.

On topic: I can't help but hope against hope Jade's hair will look a little bit more auburn as a throwback to her very first appearance.

Ninjas sell. Especially in MK. Not to mention the cheapness, overall use for one model.

I agree.

Kitana/Jade were confirmed to be Blueberry and Lime, btw.

You're kidding, right? First off, I'd kill for it to be 90% of us wanting MK2 Kitana and Jade! Unfortunately, those of us who actually like the outfits are clearly in the minority.

Secondly, it's pretty much thoroughly confirmed now that MK2 Kitana and Jade are who we're getting. Between an official press release from NRS/WB and plenty of Tweets from NinjaBoy66 (the guy making the video that will be released in an hour or two) saying things like:
Trust me, we never gave Jade and Kitana a trailer before launch so we gave everyone's favorite Edenian girls proper respect

I'd say there's no room for doubt now.

Thirdly, the only difference between MK2 and MK3 is the cleavage?! Be honest, you've never actually seen what the outfits in MK2 looked like, right? What about the horrendous looking hair bun in MK3 verses the sexy hair being down in MK2? Or the overall class the MK2 outfits have that the dominatrix outfits of MK3 completely lack?! And to top that off, they're bland but retro Sonya isn't? Seriously?!
