While I understand your being frustrated and upset PA, for the record, Boon and co. have always said MK1-3, and made no mention of UMK3 or MKT. They have also said almost everyone would make it, meaning there had to be at least 1 or 2 people left out. Rain and Sheeva were always the 2 on the cutting block in many people's eyes, so it should have never been a surprise that he didn't make the game.

Secondly, yes Quan is included and he came after Rain, but he is FAR more important story wise, than Rain ever was. Quan may not have been introduced until MK:SZM/MK:4, but his storyline predates MK1. He is necessary for Sub's, Noob's, and Scorpion's story. Rain is quite the opposite. He isn't necessary for anyone's story, and is easily left out without any sort of major impact or alterations.

Now, I say all that with no bias or hatred towards Rain whatsoever, that's just the truth. I feel for ya, I can see why you are frustrated and annoyed, but I just felt like some of the things you stated were overblown or false.

With that said, I do hope Rain fans get their favorite character as DLC sooner rather than later. Part of me just doesn't believe this "news" as legit. Kenshi I could see, the lady in red I would have thought would have been rumored and built up first before being announced, but Kintaro just doesn't make sense. Why have him as DLC, when his data is in the game? Also, why would he be playable and Goro not be? Why would either of them be playable at all? It just doesn't make sense to include him before the likes of Rain, someone who has been mentioned to Boon countless times and he even acknowledges it. I just think it's too early to fully believe this to be true...

Getting pissed that a character that's already in the game (Kintaro) is DLC isn't dumb at all. His data is on the disc, he's already IN the game. You're paying extra for the right to access something you already own which is a well known DLC scam that game companies like to pull to milk money out of people. You're getting ripped off.

This is in the APRIL issue because issues are issued 1 month ahead first of all.


It's the May issue. The MKO article says as much.

2nd of all, this is a april fools joke even MK team on twitter said its fake.


No, Himmerick only said it's "wrong." That's vague as shit and sounds more like covering their ass over info that maybe wasn't supposed to have come out yet.

3rd of all, if you were paying attention to leaks and everything else. You would see that kintoro HAS a spot on the MAIN roster along with an arcade ending and is in the tower/arcade mode already.


Right, which means you're paying to unlock him. Which could mean, despite Boon's earlier protests to DLC characters being whole new ones, that WB asked for another DLC character and NRS took the lazy way out and pulled Kintaro. There could be any number of reasons to make that decision easy: he's a boss so he's "special," he's a classic MK character but not horribly popular and perhaps he wasn't fully finished.

4th of all, Her name is Skarlett not "lady in red".


There's the possibility that her name's supposed to be a secret until you actually have her. Everybody "knows" her name is Skarlett but it's not like it's confirmed.

5th, They already said cyber smoke or Rain will be first DLC choices and they made a poll to see which one goes first in DLC.


No they didn't. Boon made a twitter poll and included those choices. That doesn't mean shit and it's not like he's bound to any of the results.

6th, kenshi is good But rain will come first. They won't announce 3 DLC characters before the game comes out maybe 1 tops, not 3. This story does NOT add up at all and it sounds fake, so stop crying and use your LOGIC instead of shaking like a raging nerd.


Why not? MvC3 announced two characters as DLC months before the game came out.

Rain will be in the game 100% stop crying.


How do you know? Rain was intended as a demo screen joke and I've always gotten the impression the MK team doesn't particularly give much of a shit about him. Not saying he won't be in eventually, just that it's not 100% assured.

If anything the first 3 DLC characters will be Rain, Sareena, and Cyber Smoke.


This is bigger bullshit conjecture than my bullshit conjecture.

I can understand where you're coming from w/ this. I'm not a particular fan of Rain.. but i don't dislike him either. However, I got to thinking.. well what if it was Sonya or Kano or Kabal or Sheeva (some of my own faves) left out for whatever stupid reason... then I get my hopes up because they'd been mentioned as DLC... only to find out: No , wait... we're going to throw these guys in there instead. Yeah, I could definitely see myself getting very angry over that.

I still am happy that Kenshi (if this doesn't turn out to be a joke) will be available.. but I do understand why you are so upset.

You are so right, and I agree and respect every thing in this post. Rain may not be one of my favorite characters, but he is one of my favorite ninjas. I don't really advertise it alot, but I am a HUGE Rain supporter.

It is infuriating, but you and several others are the real diehard Rain fans and the Team should damn well know your voices should be heard.

I hope this didn't come off as cheesy...I really respect this post.

@Icebaby, that really means a lot. Yes, my other posts were way too OTT, but I have been holding this all in for MONTHS now and I just blew up. But what I'm trying to bring to people's attention is that this isn't a "Rain" thing,. Yes, I love Rain, but I would feel the EXACT same way if it was Sindel, Jade, Ermac, Jax ect. This is about having all the classic characters present and giving everyone a second chance. A classic character shouldn't have to be put on "hold" while people like Quan Chi, Red Chick, Kenshi, and ect all get in without a problem. That's what irks me.

@TheManWithTheGoldenGun, thank you for completely missing the ENTIRE point of that post.

It does directly say at the top of the article, "We're revealing three of them."

And I've been PATIENTLY waiting for announcement of Kenshi, (who originally began as a background character, just like Rain) MY favorite character. I did not have my hopes up. In fact, I was bummed that I wouldn't get to see him, perhaps, till the next game. In fact, I was shocked when I read the news today.

IMHO, Kenshi does have a place in this timeline. He was supposed to go to the first tournament, but missed the boat.

However, I can't wait to see Rain. I'm sure he's coming. Be positive. smile And I definitely understand your frustrations.

*sigh* But you know this won't be the only DLC released right?

I mean let's face it NRS will have a lot of time on their hands between this release and the beginnings of MK10. And as I recall did you not want Kenshi as DLC? Are you at least a little happy about that?

I'm slightly annoyed my third wanted pick is the first that's announced yes but still at least he's in. And ya know even if someone like Sheeva would've gotten the cut I would've been very disappointed but Shaking with rage would not have been in my reaction. I would have simply bought MK3 and that would be it. Your anger that someone from the entire roster has been left out is understandable but at this point it's just temporary.

I get where you're coming from, Really I do, but I think you're investing a little too much emotion into this one thing. Rain Like Kenshi is a sure thing because Time and Time again He's been in the most top picked DLC choices and I really doubt the entire team let alone Ed Boon would ignore that.

I respect what you wrote because hey, you said what you wanted to get out there and could give a rat's ass to those who thought that they needed to look like a high school drop out and say, "u mad bro?" to you. Plus, you at least want something that should be shown in this game. Characters that were included in previous games on the final roster.

Unlike all these other users who whine that "Sheeva's too manly," "Ermac's nose is all weird," "Stryker's hat is in the wrong direction," at least your post made sense to argue about. Something that's worth what you did.

Anyway... I do understand the disappointment for a lot of people if Rain isn't in the first DLC package (if this first DLC package is even real). As he almost seems to have been inadvertantly hyped up by the MK Team, with all the [Purple] Rain mentions on Twitter, I can see how some would mistakingly expect him in the original roster. And with they're hopes dashed, with Boon mentioning Rain in a preumptive possible DLC listing, and then to have they're hopes crushed with Rain not being included in the first DLC pack, I can see where all the anger is coming from.

Remember though, so far all characters in the leak have been confirmed/leaked and 25 slots are taken, with one left open, if you wouldn't count Quan Chi on the main slot. So I say there's still some hope for Rain.

But again, either way, DLC pack being real or otherwise, Rain is still making it into MK9! At some point, anyway.

Thank you to blackcyborg, daryui, and EVERYONE else who responded to me in a calm, and understanding manner, whether you agreed with me or not. I didn't mean to go all "e-psycho" with my first two posts. As I told Icebaby, I have been holding a lot of this in for MONTHS and so it just exploded. lmao.

Sure, there's the 90% chance that I will indeed end up looking like an ass. As Rockchalk5477 said, it did say they were only reveling three of them and it'll be just my luck for them to unveil Rain tomorrow, lol.. But I hope I got through to some of you about this. It's not really a "Rain" issue, just the fact that I hate to see any classic character put on the back burner for this particular game. That's all I'm saying. I would be re-acting the same way if it was any other classic character.

I hope you guys understand where I was coming from. And yes, I'm back to sanity. lmao

Well to be honest I dont understand because its simply a game and there are more important things in life to worry and get mad about.

Now as for the matter at hand I really wish Ed Boon NEVER made the statements he made back at E3 about this game because of threads like this. Just because its a retelling of MK1-3 doesnt mean every character should be in the game. You need the ICONIC characters in there because they are just that... Iconic. Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Sonya, Kitana, Cyrax, Sektor etc...

Sorry but Rain is NOT an Iconic character. Thats not even up for discussion he just isnt and therefore he gets put on the chopping block. NRS the guys who have been making these games for 20 years now I would think know what they are doing in not including Rain if hes not in the game at launch.

They then held a poll twitter asking who the fans WANTED to see as DLC and apparently the fans have spoken. They wanted and a new character and they wanted Kenshi. Well NRS listened and they are giving the fans what they wanted

The DLC characters are EXTRA. NRS is doing this FOR YOU GUYS! This is so it can extend the life of the game. How cant anyone be happy about that? You are getting a brand new character, a newish character and a sub boss. This is probably the first of MANY DLC packs that will be coming out so just like EVERYTHING ELSE that people complain and get super mad about. JUST WAIT PLEASE Again like I said in another thread, if this time next year Rain ever gets released as DLC, then you can be mad as fuck but just wait until the game and some DLC gets released at least

And I understand it's a video game and not real life and blablabla, but if I want to get mad over a video game then it's my right. A lot of people get "mad" over a lot less here.

Do you think they should give away all kinds of DLC for free? Of course they are going to try and make money off of it. This should be a given but just because they are going to charge for it doesnt mean NRS doesnt give a shit about the fans.

I dunno.. you never know how far Boon will go. He loves pranks. There's also the possibility that it could be payback for the data leak. tongue

On a serious note though.. I tend to agree that the renders are well done. In which case, that's a lot of work for a joke.
