I can kinda understand the placement on the rows.
Row 1: Scorp/Sub-the series mascots, Liu/Kung-the overall main heroes
Row 2-Kitana/Sindel-Daughter and mother, Ermac/Reptile-Palette swapped ninjas that started as secret/glitch characters in MK1
Row 3-Johnny/Nightwolf-Good guys who use green colored energy attacks, I guess lol, Jade/Mileena-Palette swapped female ninjas
Row 4-Cyrax/Sektor-Cyborgs, Noob/Smoke-MK2 secret characters, were in a tag team
Row 5-Sonya/Stryker/Jax/Kano-Law enforcement/Criminal, tech based
Row 6-Raiden/Shang-Both involved in the Mortal Kombat tournament, Kabal/Baraka-Both use swords/blades
Row 7-Quan/Sheeva-Both inhuman characters, due to being a (Former) Oni and a Shokan.
Overall, I like the presentation this time.

honestly as much as I'm over this I'm completely annoyed that rain was left out looking at this screen shot, quan should be opposite of csz (basically in the dlc/extras list I assume) and rain should be in that spot but hey whatever I guess leaving one character out for pretty much NO reason is ok.[/rant]

that said I'm disappointed that the select screen didn't change as they said but that's just something minor, the portraits look great and I like that the characters aren't grouped.

Cyber Subzero appears twice because he is on the DLC icon. It shows up on both sides. When you press left it rotates to the next character which would be Kratos.

There is 2 sides because if its 2 players on the select screen trying to cycle through characters to pick they can do it at the same time.

Kratos, Cyber subzero, kintoro and goro and possibly khan will be scrollable in that list. Kratos and cyber sub are supposely both non-canon what-ifs so they have no ending and khan cannot kill another khan so he has no ending either I guess.

Kintoro and Goro both have endings from wht I remember in arcade mode so they WILL be playable. Use common sense and stop asking stupid questions about why there is 2 cyber subs in the DLC list and how Kintoro isnt playable.... (or worse yet, the dummies who thought he would be DLC for sale).

Actually, Cyber Sub-Zero is canon.

my only complain is that I seriously doubt this game will ever be topped.

Motaro and the C/Khameleons have good reason to be left out even if I would like to see them, Rain was simply left out just because. I'm not losing any sleep over it. I'll be gladly picking up my collectors version of the game on release, hopefully rain will be fun to use when he becomes dlc.

cyber sub has no ending and the regular subzero has an ending which I dont remember what it was when I read it but it made no mention or getting automated. Actually I think his remember his ending he created an alliance with scorpion.
Smoke is human but he isn't automated yet during the timeline possibly and he wasn't automated in MK:D so who knows what they did with him. I still prefer the half cyborg-half human smoke that is shown in peoples avatars on this forum. Its PERFECT literally in design.

Cyber sub was just as badass as I knew he would be.... and he has 4-5 sets of special moves that the regular subzero doesn't have so its win-win.
and Since regular sub's enhanced moves are basically frost's moves, that leaves out a generic frost clone.

I LOVE how ppl cry that cyber sub RUINED subzeros character when they are BOTH in the game. There will always be dumb ppl in this forum. EMOs is a understatement.

I wonder what Rain's redesign will be-Unless they pull a Quan Chi on him.

I expect it and wouldn't mind. His Armageddon incarnation is one of the best designs from that era.

I'm assuming it's a clone of Mileena's teleport kick, but with visual similarities to Sektor's teleport punch. Possibly using the same green 010101 graphics.

Ice bomb I assume is like Cyrax's bomb, but ending in a freeze effect, instead of an explosion.

That way he has one "borrowed but modified" move from the other two cyborgs.

Ice parry I assume is a parry that leaves the opponent frozen.

Ice ball I have no idea really. Possibly just his basic Sub-Zero "freeze" ball.

Agreed. I still don't understand how some people believe the bosses won't be playable, or will be DLC.

CSZ occupying two slots leads to logical conclusion that those slots are like the ones in SCIV where the bonus characters are, leads to possibility that all of our bitching may have gotten Rain in as a secret character, leads to me wondering how many characters will actually be in the game. I mean, what if CSZ isn't supposed to be the big secret? I doubt there'd be an achievement for unlocking him if he were. Surely Boon didn't think the achievements would be kept secret until the game releases. i'm still holding out hope that there'll be roster surprises in those two slots. I think we were supposed to see this. Boon hasn't whined about it on twitter yet, after all. He's a sneaky bastard, we all know that.
