i felt this way about soul calibur 4. after the absurd amount of guest characters that were either clones or terribly unbalanced, i felt like the actual sc4 cast were the guest characters in their own damn game! the fucking star wars theme overhyped everything sc4 related, i mean it was even on the damn box cover art! i hope they learned their lesson for the next in the sc series and just forget this silly guest character trend. that said, at the very least mk9 ps3 has just one guest character, and thats better than like 10 sc4 had. still, i agree, it would be a shame if advertisements were all about kratos and made it seem like a god of war fighting game with some guest mk characters for kratos to beat up on. but they have been doing a decent job leaving kratos out of ads and focus entirely on mk roster, though that is likely to change.

In his defense, Kratos hasn't been part of the marketing for a couple of months now. It was about time we got a proper trailer of him honestly.

By that logic, Harry Potter should be a guest character. Think of the millions of copies they'd sell.

SC4 had 3, Vader, Yoda and Apprentice, and the only characters that were really broken were Hilde and Algol.

It was irritating to fight hordes of Yoda's though when you couldn't even do like half your combos on him because he weighed about 800 lbs and wouldn't pop up as high and was too short to throw.

I totally agree with you though. I hate guest characters. But I don't see them stopping. I think the Starwars fanboys helped them line their pockets too well.

there were 3 star wars characters (all 3 terribly broken), yes, but there were at least a half dozen guests anime clone characters, too. ashlotte is one that comes to mind. there were way too many guests jap anime clone characters in that game.

Makes the Noob/Ermac team look perfect appearance wise. I see them being paired more than the old Smoke/Noob from MKD.

Cool video! I love how he's getting the "Overpowered!" and "Broken!stigmas already...it's supposed to be focusing on his gameplay, so of course he's going to be dishing out some brutal combos, right?

I have mixed feelings about him being in this game, but I'll give him a chance since he looks pretty cool to use. I kinda hate that Xbox isn't getting the same game, for better or for worse...I'd feel a little left out if I had an Xbox...ust jwish everything was level and even. I guess the" MK only" fans are happy though.

His X-ray reminds me of Sub-Zero and Mileena which are so much better.

My god, even the blinding move doesn't look awesome and he's pulling out a head out of nowhere. it should at least drip a little blood or scream every time you use it.

Nearest I can tell he's got

Arrow Shot - 2 shots, or ex 3 delayed shots, which may be good, but any of the teleport / reflectors can punish.
Shoulder charge - Same as subby / reptile slide
Helios stun - sindel scream, cyrax net, etc
Parry launcher - liu kang
Slow mo launcher - looks like kitana's b+2 with some add ons, probably same as superman's breath links and probably not as valuable as doing a real juggle off the b2.
QTE - Connects off a forward stab, functionally identical to Kabal's swing grab. Looks like it has an EX flash in the vid, so normal one probably isn't even multipart.
XRay - Connects off a long range slice and doesn't look like it has followups (unless they somehow stay standing after a tiger glove to the face).

He does look cool as hell and I'm officially jealous, but competitively Liu, Kabal, Noob, Scorpion, Ermac, and Johnny all look way more broken than he does.

Does Ermac have Gold on his first two fingers, or am i seeing things?

Ed explained in the recent videos that he worked with the gow team to make kratos like he is in the game. he also said that his moves would not be spammable especially the blades. this is a gameplay trailor after all. anyone who played noob saibot at pax was he broken? the same was suggested when noobs gameplay video came out.
