You know, I had a well thought, educated and constructive piece of critiscm to post in this topic, but I'm lost for words. The mentality of some of the posters on this website has literally turned my stomach and I'm amazed to see what I'm seeing. This is a game with an 18's label on it, but that obviously hasn't stopped children from being fans by the looks of things. Your attitude's are desperate, outdated and pathetically nauseating in this day and age. In all honesty it's appauling.

First and foremost, to those who just feel like they are so compelled to flaunt how masculine and heterosexual they are by demeaning posters who are openly gay with juvenile remarks, I'll leave this here for you.

In regards to the topic, I agree with previous posters that the problem itself revolves around the women being scantily clad, as opposed to the guys actually being semi-naked. Mortal Kombat seems to be a tournament where women are welcomed if they have disproportionate bodies and tastlessly provocative outfits. On the other end of the spectrum, some of the male fighters are over-dressed to the point it's impractical. Foolish decisions in regards to the character's designs are leading to debates like this because NRS are being a little OTT with their concept art.

Now dont get me wrong, this is an OTT game anyway. Guys shoot ice, fire and electricity out of their hands. You can break skulls, spines, ribcages and necks in the middle of battle and loose gallons of blood, yet get back up and keep fighting like it's nothing. Mortal Kombat never has, and never will be, in any way shape or form logical or realistic. Nor should we ever expect it to be.

But that should only pander to the violence in this game, as opposed to the wardrobe decisions. Do I want to bust an Xray attack on an oppenent ans hit them so hard they vomit on my characters leg? Yes. Do I want to rip their head off and chew their face at the end of the match? Yes. Do I want to throw them into a bedding of spikes and watch their liver drip blood from the tip of the blade? Yes. Too fucking right I do. But do I want semi naked fighters of either gender? Not at all.

This is a violent video game. I expect it to be violent. I want it to be violent. I buy it because I want that violence, and I want the flamboyance and theatricality of it all. I dont buy this game to perve on Jonny Cage's bulge, or to whack off as Jade's ripped and torn cleavage jiggles as she slides down a pole. I'm not buying this game for sex or sex appeal because in my mind, that's not remotely associated with violence at all (and if it is the case you find it sexually arousing to beat up and murder virtual, beautiful scantily clad women, you really need your head checked). MK never was about sex appeal, it's always been about Violence. And this game has caused nothing but uproar in this community ever since it's debut for it's increasingly blatant sex appeal more so than it has for it's violence.

In summary, no. I would not like to see the guys dress scantily. Hell, I dont even want the women to look that way. Ideally I would prefer if the men didn't appear so bulky with excessive armour and appeared to be more practical in regards to clothing, and I'd also like to see the women ditch their high heeled boots and thongs for outfits that oozed creativity, personality and sex appeal without demeaning the female who's wearing it. Though that's incredibly wishful thinking on my behalf.

Look I really don't care if a person is gay straight or even bisexual for that matter and BTW I only made that comment to see who would have the nerve to call me immature or childish for that matter plus its my way of revealing peoples true colors for the inconsiderate jerks they are and all the people that have quoted me have made themselves easy targets for how quickly they judge people so go ahead keep up the insults you are only making it easier for the mods to ban you.

Writing something like that, even for those reasons, IS immature and childish.

The short answer is no.

The long answer is that I would be against the male ninja characters dressing like that, because the last thing this series needs is to be even more of a joke. I don't even really like how the female ninja characters dress.

About men dressing half naked, you already have that in the series. When you look at the way Johnny Cage was dressed in MK1, as someone brought up, it is just fine. Why? It made sense for his character in that story. How about just having the characters dress logically and still look visually appealing? Couldn't they still have "sex appeal"? I mean, I guess it depends on what floats your boat.

About the whole "gay" thing, that's pretty silly. Just because someone is gay doesn't mean that he/she is stereotypically effeminate and talks like a "valley girl". Here's the thing....Mortal Kombat is not a series centered around sexuality. It's about blood, gore, over-the-top violence and quasi mysticism.

If they ever have a gay character, how about they not focus on his/her sexual orientation and just focus on what the character is about? Just focus on making the character fun to play as and give him/her a good story, interesting personality, etc.

I would rather NRS designs the male ninja characters with the kind of quality and mentality like that of Scorpion and Sub-Zero in MK: Legacy. The fact that their costumes are simple yet functional and visually appealing make them great. You have Scorpion's demon mask, which is fantastic, because some historical ninja, such as the ones that practiced Ninjutsu traditions like Kumogakure-Ryu, wore demon masks.

So going back to my short answer, no, I don't want to see the male ninja characters in "mankinis".
