I know all this is just a coincidence, and most of those things are already stock-standard for Jax, but man WHAT a coincidence

I don't know that a bit of Patton shorthand to add colour to a military characters bio photo necessarily means they're Captain America. Who, incidentally, wears the flag all over his body, but doesn't really bang on about being American as much as you might think...

How....expected. The concept of this game really ruins character reveals for me.....no newness to any of it, but there's always the gameplay.

I'm gonna say it again and hope that this time, someone actually listens.

The arms are NOT black.



That color is GRAY. The only difference between the color of his arms in this game and in every other game is that they are just not polished and shiny like they usually are.
God, you'd think K1llKano was the only guy who'd ever drawn fanart of Jax before, the way people keep bringing it up when it's not really related to this design beyond having standard Jax stuff. He's not wearing camo either, he's wearing the same plain olive pants from MKvsDCU.

They don't really look all that similar to me, especially facially. The fanart has a much flatter face whereas in game Jax has a much more sculpted look.

to all the american flag on jax haters... he is in the american army... why is it all a problem that he would wrap himself in the american flag? soldiers for any country should have great pride and show their patriotism since they are willing to die for the country they serve. if people want to gripe about the gun on his back, dandy, but jax started out as a gi joe themed character in mk2. perhaps too many of the posters on this forum are younger and started with horrible ghetto thug jax... or something.

I think what bothers people about the flag isn't as much the patriotism as the fact that wearing a flag like a cape is boxer or pro wrestler behavior and they thought of Jax as a less cheesy, more straight-laced guy.

Personally, I think it fits him just fine. He's always had a bit of that wrestler/show-off attitude in him. I also love that his mid-match winpose is kissing his bicep.

I don't think I've ever seen this much Hype about Jax before in...well, ever! I've been playing the franchise since MK1 and only now, with this title, are people actually talking about Jax.

I questioned NRS's publicity skills before, but hats off to them. If they can do this with one of the series least controversial characters, I cant wait to see what they'll do with the likes of Ermac, Sindel or Kabal. Well done guys!grin

I can't believe people would dislike that win pose! That was so awesome, my face lit up with a grin when I saw it. He's one of the few US themed characters in the game so I don't have a big problem with his patriotism.

preach on, crow. i will again note that i cannot believe i am defending jax as i have disliked him since mk3 (he was pretty cool in mk2). but i enjoyed everything i saw about him in the reveal video, most especially the victory pose. perhaps the gun on the back is a bit much, but oh well. hey, at least it aint a giant gold street thug chain, right?

I have mixed feelings on Jax. I've never really been a fan of his character, and I think that while his look and voice have improved, I still don't care for the bionic arms or the machine gun. I also wished that he had clothing on his top half like in MK vs. DC. I will say that his gameplay looks great. I think his fighting stance is perfect, and I like all of the grapples he has.

The Subway and its stage fatality are nice. I don't like the way Sub-Zero's spine rip fatality has been done. Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if we see someone like Sonya or Liu Kang next.

I'm surprised everyone is so mixed about Jax. To tell you the truth I haven't been as happy with jax since before Deadly Alliance. I've never liked Jax since MK2. I'm still not crazy about him retain the gun, but I guess i can live with it. Also as far as his win pose would any of you rather Stryker had it?

Also on a side not did anyone else notice the Nether Relm studios poster in the background of the Subway level?

Of course not. Stryker's not the guy who has flags in the backgrounds of his bios. He also doesn't look like Mike Tyson and flex his biceps and do the Tombstone Piledriver as a special move. The flag-cape is 100% Jax.

Jax is looking good. I like the win pose and kiss on the bicep for the round win. To me Jax always had a bit of cockiness about him.

Love the Subway stage fatality.Only problem is that I can't see a character like Kitana be that brutal. It would be interesting if there was 2 or more ways of doing a stage fatality depending

I guess Jax's win pose is kinda growing on me. I completely forgot about the flags in his backgrounds for his portraits. I suppose that's a pretty good nostalgic reference.

It just kinda throws me off, because Jax is pretty bad ass in this, and I don't find the American flag win pose in sync with the others... though I suppose that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I guess I just pictured Jax punching the ground and causing the camera to shake and fall over as he stares into it or something like that for his win pose.

I'm feelin' it a little more now, though.

I definitely was hoping for Liu Kang. I haven't been a real fan of Jax for a while now (too slow for me) but I am highly impressed by what I saw.grinconfused
