Yeah, he only said 20s which could mean 20 or 29. They probably told him to stop using exact numbers. With the way these boards have been going if they promised 26 but only had 25 ready for launch there would be an outcry and people would be boycotting the game (not really but that is how some people have been acting lately).

Well that is already too late now, with 26 (perfect with trilogy roster) promised its now an outrage to give us (at least 5) less.

I rather see the game in July 2011 with more characters than april with less characters.

Jade, Ermac, Sindel, Kabal, Baraka out of the game and I wont consider it bought... as they probably release a gold version the next year with these coolest characters of all time in it.

Sonya, Kano, Liu, Rayden and Shang Tsung are no big deal they are 100% sertain to be in the game.

he never said once ever in that video there are now only 20 fighters. ever. ever. i mean ever. clean out your years. he CLEARLY says the final number of fighters for the shipped game has not even been decided as of october, 2010. he also CLEARLY noted there would be dlc characters so whatever does not make the game on launch could easily show up as dlc.

and come on folks, this is ed boon... after 18 years has no one ever noted he is a chronic bullshitter when it comes to exact facts?! no one should ever pay too close attention to anything he says. just keep a basic facts ear open when listening to him, nod, and carry on. analyzing what he says during an mk development is always a waste of time, imo.

This was very pleasant, especially for those who've been craving new media. I didn't expect Jax to be revealed but am still impressed none the less.

Jax looks perfect. Sleek, non-ghetto, great art style, a perfect mix of his MK2 and 3 looks. His head finally looks right! He's got that old school crew cut from the 90's back. I didn't notice a goatee, it seems to me that he has a clean cut shave look. I must say that this is the Jax look that has resurrected his true image and gotten rid of his awful rehashes from MKDA and previous iterations.

I'm also glad that they haven't reused the MKvsDC model. I was a fan of that look but it didn't look like "Jax". More like someone else trying to be a role for him. Still didn't look bad, but the one shown off here is better by the miles. No shirt FTW, metal arms look sleek. No one has mentioned here that Jax's overall design looks similar to his version in MK Shaolin Monks adventure game. He does wear the same pants I believe.

Gameplay tidbits shown off from Jax look great, gives off the impression that he is the heavy set character for this game, ala Zangief from SF. Not digging the machine gun on his back returning again, he looks menacing enough, he doesn't need a gun. The X-ray move backbreaker looks very suitable for Jax, looks painful indeed. Gotcha grab returns! The description of his fatality sounds good. Loving the win pose, and I support it. Jax is after all an American soldier and patriotism is well portrayed.

Subway stage looks awesome. Very happy to have it return. Overall impressed with the stage fatality. Laughed my ass off when Jax is holding his enemies' head against the side of an incoming train then tosses them accross the other rails. MK team has outdone themselves on this one.

Spine rip fatality, I like it alot as it's so popular and one of my old time favorites. The execution is right, the struggle as Subbie is pulling is a little detail that I'm proud of and have been asking for quite a while. The head rip and everything looks great, I just think the end victory pose could be a little better. Now we know that Subzero has 3 fatalities. Will one of them be DLC or a part of the game? guess we'll have to find out when the game comes out. I am still very happy that the spine rip fatality has returned. Good job Geoff on the mocap!

The other gameplay tidbits shown look stunning, the internal damage is too gorgeous. The arenas look magnificant, I am speechless. I simply cannot wait for this game. I've been a fan since MK1 in the arcades, and this game could not possibly dissapoint us old fans from what we've seen.

Someone mentioned how his skin is wrinkled up, as if the metal arms are now perminantly attached...that leads me to ask the question...

Do you think one of the changes is that the metal arms are either in place of his arms, or are perminantly attached to his arms which would explain why it looks as if his skin is so pushed back? This would make for a case of someone who wasn't technically a cyborg before, is now. It's also interesting to note, that in his "what if" ending in MKvsDC, his arms were replaced with robotic ones, so it's not like the idea isn't out of their realm of thought.

Just a thought...

Jax FINALLY did a piledriver...he picks up the guy and slams him around like a piece of raw meat...he jumps up and does the air backbreaker.

Jax is officially a grappler, and IT! IS! GLORIOUS!

They should change the order of Jax 's combined fatality. It's more logical to first rip off the arms and then smash the head to pieces. Not like Boon mentioned now.
.
if they did that it would be similar to Kitana's,plus Johny Cage decap first the head and then the torso..

Cant believe NOBODY cares about the fact that we get LESS characters than 26...

Buy Rain, Stryker, Sheeva, Jade, mabye even Ermac, Sindel and who know who else...

I hate this news.... it spoils the coolness of the new Jax who rocks... but It can't satisfy me now... i'm deeply DEEPLY sad right now... they shouldn't give us 26 character hopes up and then lower the number like there is nothing to it...

There are more fans than only scorpion and sub-zero fans you know... the 6 (if it are indeed only 20) character they leave out of it have huge fans aswel...

I hate this news and I hope its not true.

what are u talking about? he said "somewhere in the 20s" that means 20-29.......

I like Jax, but c'mon, couldnt we have gotten a more unpredictable character, and the Subway, really, that one has already been done, and it was never a arena I cared for. How about The Portal and the Dark Tower from MK2

We all expect the MK1-3 roster, for the most part, to be in the game. Most people thought the reveal was going to be Raiden or Liu Kang. Having it be Jax, with an extensive makeover, is more than satisfying to me.

And I would agree with you about the Subway, except the stage fatality they showed was amazing and more than worth it.

Yes, big difference, smart one. Especially when you're talking details of a video game character. Bandanas don't go through or around your head, so that means they cover it. Headbands don't.

Bandanas can be worn in many different ways, an not all of them include the head. The 2 most common ways are the Solid Snake way and the headcap ways. The only real difference between a headband and a Solid Snake-style bandana is that one is tied at the back. It's easy to mix these up if looking at someone from the front and are unable to see the back of their head.

From a massive stereotypical point of view, Americans think those two things are one and the same (entire Earth and USA).

As for the Scorpion concepts - they weren't REALLY concepts. They were just texture ideas for his yellow robe parts. That was the ONLY difference between them all, which is bullshit in the fact that his robes aren't the worst part - the stupid skin-tight black body condom he wears underneath is!

Some of those other robe ideas were WAY better than his current one with lightning bolts, and he needs a more traditional ninja gi underneath it much like what Sub Zero has. Also, they should bring back the DA / Deception hood instead of the balaclava-like one they keep re-using over and over for everyone!!

Seriously, Deadlly Alliance is the only costume the devs got right!

As for Jax - I haven't seen anything too interesting about him and he's still a character I don't like. Hopefully when the game comes out I will change my mind but so far, I feel nothing for him. And put a damn shirt on, even a vest or something!! Geez.

From a massive stereotypical point of view, Americans think those two things are one and the same (entire Earth and USA).

If it's a massive stereotypical point of view, then why share it? Anyways, that statement is complete bullshit...

The flag is an obvious homage to his select screen pictures in MK2 and MK3 which I know someone mentioned earlier in this thread and I mentioned in one of my own threads that they should bring back the unique pictures behind the character in the select screen. Look:

See the flags? EDIT: And also, check out his MK2 Bio. "Top U.S. Special Forces".

Jax and the Subway look amazing.

Jax his look is really good. It is a vast improvement over MKvsDC. He also looks like a close range fighter as he should be.

Design- Lose the gun and you'll be good.

x-ray- Bad ass. It seems true to the character

Specials- I hope they lose the gun everything else is good.

Win pose- The most bad ass thing ever. He whips out the American flag. If you don't like it then screw you.

Okay, we ready?

...

Jax looks good. Like.... all the way around. Yea.... I'm satisfied, and...sure, impressed. Instead of him being stereotypical, he's patriotic? Cool. As far as is gestures, grunts, and tag lines, they did an excellent job putting him in a space that is not too campy, and still fully captures the Jax of the old in a new way.

So, he's also refreshing. He's intimidating and his moves match what he says. And if you don't think so.... there's that big ass gun on his back to straighten out your opinion = Jax. Yea! way to go NR Studios.

His victory pose disgustingly beautiful. To think that after doing all that violent stuff, he can pull out an American flag, wrap himself in it, and crack a proud smile? It's just...fuck it, ok. lol Pure golden age soldier stuff right there.

His arms aren't what i expected but it's good without being obsessive about size or whatever. The detail on the attachments is a nice touch. The flesh looking kind of torn is good. It looks like you could actually have something like that done to yourself if you were so ambitious.

I like what I see from him, all the way around.

----

As for the arena fatality, I don't know why I never thought about that sort of thing from that arena but, it makes perfect sense. It's like, "duh". Mortal Kombat always has had a capacity for capitalizing on congenial brutality mixed with humor at the same time. And that was a perfect 10.

I too hope that not everyone can do that stage fatality. It looks like it should only be specific to someone like Jax. Even if it isn't character specific though, it's the best thing to have happened to that arena in a very long time.

Jax finally looks like a character I might use more often than not now. Loving his look, and his heavy-hitter gameplay.

The Subway stage looks awesome. The stage fatality made me giddy like a school girl. Even my wife said "Now I'm REALLY getting excited for this game!!"

The studio that WB got for NRS looks really nice. I would love to tour that place sometime.

All and all I'd say the GTTV special was awesome. Lots of gameplay footage, and a cool new character and stage reveal.

Lastly I want to throw a 'thank you' out there for Boon and the rest of the team at NRS. Thanks for listening to the fans, and making a game that we all are really excited about. I know for me at least April can't come soon enough. I'm glad WB is giving you guys the time and freedom to be able to make an MK game that you have been wanting to make for a long time. The hard work you are putting into this one really shows. Enjoy continuing to make this game because I know I'm going to enjoy playing it!!
Thanks again,
M.

I kinda hate the spine rip fatality from Sub-Zero... I liked the old one better... with the ice shattered corspe with the frozen skull with spine... I hope they didn't cut that one and that the new boring old copy is fake and only for the show.
