I will say, if Johnny looks like a monkey on crack, it's no wonder Sonya's repulsed by him. tongue

Raiden's head looks terrible, like under the hat he's all forehead, painted skintone instead of black. Reminds me of how derpy he looked in the cutscenes of Shaolin Monks.

And Johnny's head is pretty goofy too. Scorpion looks alright but I'll never buy anything wearing his MK9 costume.

I'll probably get the Sub-Zero and wait for the next wave.

All these look sooooo terrible in quality I'm actually not as excited as I was when I first heard the news of MK action figures ages ago.

I mean, the MKSM line was very well done. The models looked pretty and cool.

The MKD line was ugly. And this one is even worse.

Sub-Zero looks like a chinese girl! I wouldn't be surprised if you can take off his ninja costume and discover it is actually Frost in disguise.

Raiden is probably a giraffe with a thunder god complex (or a fan?)

And Johnny looks like he could be the stunt-man of one of his movies....a monkey on a cheap Johnny cage suit.

So ugly.

And if these figures don't look any better in the next wave, I wouldn't be surprised if they made Sonya look like a toad.

I was looking forward to these, but now after seeing them, I am not impressed. I was hoping for better but I am debating if they are worth getting. I guess I shouldn't have expected too much but NECA would have done a much better job, not that they had the chance or anything. The only one I'm considering getting is Sub-Zero. Scoprion's mask just looks off and the other two don't look very good. I may have to pass on all of these though. Maybe another company can hopefully pick up the license soon; or Jazwares can beef up their work.

These look like ass. Disappointed doesn't even BEGIN to describe how I feel. The colros are flat, the sculpts are boring, and 15 PoA hasn't been anything to brag about in years. Cage also looks like Ben Stiller.

At least my custom MK figures will be getting commissioned more people look for alternatives :P

But thats the point I dont want cheap looking kiddies toys based on game intended for adults. Besides McFarlanes's stuff isn't that expensive when its first released (certainly not compared to the japan stuff I buy)
Quite frankly I'd rather pay a little extra for quality rather then buy something that looks like it belongs in a McDonalds Happy Meal

These all remind me of the lame MKD wave (series 1) that had Baraka, Rayden, Scorpion and Sub-Zero......even then they looked better.

What happened with the artists who worked on the MKSM line? Johnny Cage, Kano, Reptile, Noob, Liu, Kung lao, and even the ninjas all looked fantastic.

These first wave is ugly. So freaking ugly.

I’m not a fan, they look awful. Come on they should have done better than this. Scorpion looks cheap! I cannot even describe how awful the rest are.

I’m terrified that Sonya might actually look worse than her GI Joe figure.

im pretty sure that the 4 inch figues will be better. but if they are the same, at least there is robots. ill get those for nostalgia.

has anyone ever seen the new clone wars clones?

the articulation on those are phenominal, if they went that route id be all about it.

also yeah the look on these are disappointing. someone should contact boon and tell him to put his foot down.

mcfarlane does video game toys, we are tired of a million halo redues,

his mk would be godly

Why do these look like kid's toys? This is freaking Mortal Kombat.

I agree with the poster who said NECA would've done a much better job.

I really don't see what everyone is complaining about. I would kill to have piece of Stryker merchandise, even if it meant having something as 'ugly' as the action figures their giving.

They look like McDonalds or $1 store figures, horrible. But its Jazzwares, what do you expect...really. Only other worse company I can think of out there that could have had this license is Jakks.

So sad, I wont touch these things. Hopefully one day Mortal Kombat will FINALLY get the action figure line it deserves and its potential will no longer be wasted. But with this track record, I do not have much hope.

Most of us aren't quite sold on these figures. I still can't help but wonder how the 3 3/4" figures will turn out. Also, curious to know who the SDCC Exclusive is. If you remember, Kintaro was a cancelled figure in the last line. Could it be him, or maybe even Sonya. Let's just hope it's not a paint variant of Scorpion or Sub-Zero.

While i am kind of on the fence about these, I love Sub's figure, but the head sculpt & over all sloppiness of the other is just annoying, even though Im sure those are just raw prototypes to send to retailers.
Also, since i actually live like 30 mins from the Jazwares head office, i might be doing an in person interview with someone from the company and if so, i should be seeing some of these in person. We'll be filming it with high quality gear, so if we manage to set it all up, i'll have some awesome sneak previews to share :)

Seriously, people are suprised by this?

When they announced late last year/early this year (whenever it was) that Jazwares was doing the MK9 figures, the first thing I posted was, "Really? What a let down... that means they're just gonna look like crap again, like the last three waves Jazwares did."

I am not at all shocked or dumbfounded that these figures look like crap. I knew they would from the moment they were originally announced.

As for what they should look like, no, I don't want a macfarlane-esque line... Sure they're detailed, but nobody likes the unarticulated "plastic statue" thing. It's lame.

Sota's Street Fighter line is the line these things should aspire to be. I have a feeling that's what they're going for, when I look at them, especially when I see things like Johnny's extra hands... but crappy sculpts and paintjobs always make them fall well short of it.

Street Fighter fans really got a kick ass toy line from Sota, while it lasted... shame it got canceled, because it really was one of the better lines of action figures I've ever seen. Shame Mortal Kombat fans have never gotten a toy line half as good.

All y'all haters can walk it off, 'cause I would've pissed myself if these were the MK toys I had when I was a kid. Shit, in '96, we had to settle for a Storm Shadow painted green, and it was still awesome.

While I sort of agree with this, you just pointed out what the problem with this figures is: they look like toys for little kids. They're something you would've loved to have when you were a kid, something I'd give as a birthday present to my 10 year old brother, but not buy for myself to put it on a shelf and look at it. Action figures have no purpose when your marketing target is composed of mostly adults.
