Nooooooooooooooooooooo*deep breath*oooooooooooo!

I expected Liu 'turkey-boy' Kang to show up, but why the hell is he coming back as the champion?! I know this is a re-boot, but shouldn't there be at least a little change? Sonya Blade, Kung Lao, even Johnny Cage would have been a nice change. At least if it was Johnny, it would have been a surprise.

I kind of wish the models didn't just break apart in fatalities. If there was room for stretching, I would've loved to see Liu Kang's dragon morph just rip and tear at the upper half of the opponent's body as muscle tissue would be pulled on before finally snapping like a rubber band. Somebody get Treasure on the phone, get them to tell NRS how they got Stretch Panic working on the PS2.

Is no one else concerned about his Dragon Fatality seeming cartoonish in this game? It is essentially an Animality, after all... and those... those... those were just.... they.... sad

It was awesome in MK2, 4, and Shaolin Monks. It came before Animalities and it came after Animalities. It is wholly unrelated to that nonsense. There is no reason it should ever be spoken of in the same disrespectful breath as Shark-Cyrax, Eagle-Sonya, Penguin-Scorpion, or Monkey-Reptile.
Liu Kang turning into a dragon is not some franchise-wide joke finisher. It is an actual power he possesses, a famous trademark part of his character. And this game is all about bringing the trademark and iconic things back, focusing on what characters are famous and remembered for, all the GOOD parts of our nostalgia cranked up to eleven.

If we're continuing the trend of combining fatalities, I'd like to see 2 of his fatalities from Shaolin Monks combined into one. The one where he breaks his opponent's arms and legs, and the shaolin soccer one.

Start it off where he snaps one elbow, then kicks in one of their knees from the side, which sends them kneeling on their other knee. Then he proceeds to break their other arm and then uppercut their head off and do the soccer kick which sends their head at their body and explodes.

If that's too complex...

I'd like to see him rip their arms off and hit them with them a few times, then uppercut their head off and do the soccer kick.

The second one could be the Dragon one redone.

Man...I usually come up with some great creative stuff using the character's powers etc., but Liu just seems to have such little options imo.

I understand that its iconic status alone puts it above and beyond the Animalities, but he is still turning into a dragon to eat the person. They have one hell of a challenge making it look scary and disturbing as opposed to flat-out awkward or funny.

I think it's kind of classic to have "a returning champion". Something like in WWF and movies - the hero of all time comes back to life like by a miracle to save the world. This time it's not that far-fetched though after you've taken the time travel into account.
