He actually looks more like someone from the Aral regions in Asia. Good job with the pants, and the face.
If the plot goes the same, nothing will change except cosmetics, which mean only that Kang probably becomes more fun to draw. Not necessarily enjoyable to watch in action.

Well, there's still the possibility that the story will see drastic changes, hopefully for the better.
And this design reminds me of a character from Jade Empire.

The Champ Is Here! Liu looks truly phenomenal! His X-Ray is pretty sweet.

I feel like the enhanced version of his bicycle kick will be the MKT red bicycle kick. Either that, or a bicycle kick leading to the flying kick.
I have no idea on what the enhanced version of the flying kick could be.
And majority of you all thought he wasn't going to make it in... Hahaha...
I know my dad's going to be pleased about this. This is the only character he likes to play as whenever he picks up the controller here and there.
I think this might be the first game I'll ever play as him. I never really liked playing as Liu, but meh, I'll probably be trying out all of the characters.

Yes, it was discussed a couple pages back, in the original Mortal Kombat 1 comic, which is canon, his bio listed his parents, named Lee Kang and Lin Kang, as both deceased, so that's always been there.
It was mentioned in the movie too, that his parents died when he and his little brother were young and they both grew up in the Order of Light. Unlike the movie, though, his having a brother was never important in the games. The comic bio lists the brother as missing and he was never brought up again.

Thanks so much for the explanation, RazorEdge701. I go and check 2 page back. I haven't watched my exact DVD of Mortal Kombat yet since 3 years ago.

Huzzah, huzzah...it's the Vanilla Wonder himself, Schmucky McBlandpuss. Looking as dull and unappealing as ever. Because what would Mortal Kombat be without its designated deus ex machina?
It's like clockwork.

You know, most of the time I can take your opinions on MK as the status quo, but now you are bitching for the sake of bitching.
Come on. If anything, I can understand why the new MK is creatively bankrupt storywise and designwise sometimes, but really, Xiahou how else can they change MK Kang without not creating him anew into something else entirely?
Oh wait...

Xiahou is a man without a country right now. He had a country, but it got pillaged and replaced by a time-travel story. Granted, the time-travel story wasn't my choice either, but after seeing the Rebirth trailer, I'm grateful we're at least maintaining continuity. Plus, there are elements I'm looking forward to.

Much as I hate the creative weakness of a "soft" reboot, this quote made me LOL big time.
I'm glad they kept the morsel about Liu's parents being dead. Continuity is awesome and it's little things like this and Sub-Zero II having the original codename of Tundra that make this installment really feel like something special. It's as if they got out all of their old notes and materials and pored over them to come up with things to flesh out. Kudos.
(btw, those bios were also in the MKI instruction book - at least the Genesis version).
I hope that if/when we get to see his Enter the Dragon Fatality, it actually looks impressive. Maybe I'm alone in this, but I haven't liked the actual appearance of the dragon since MKII. In MK3/Ultimate/Trilogy, it was neon green, and I didn't care too much for the renders in MK4/Gold and Shaolin Monks. I was especially saddened by the Shaolin Monks version because it seemed as if was less detailed than anything else in the game.

I think I'm gonna have to lie down for this one...
