This thread seems to be going more than the other. I'll ask here. I just read the final chapter, and it sounds like Kitana, Nightwolf, and Kung Lao die. I'm not sure if I'm reading the line right or what, because I can't find where Kitana and NIghtwolf die. But Kitana's chapter was my favorite! Kitana/Jade/Sheeva/Mileena action. Very fun stuff

Kung Lao has snuck away to the tournament trying to prove he's as good as Liu Kang, similar to how he did in Shaolin Monks. Except this time, Shang discovers he's there and makes him fight Scorpion.

Scorpion beats him and lets him live. Then fucking Nightwolf turns out to be at the tournament too! Scorpion also beats but doesn't kill him. This whole time, Scorpion has been demanding Sub-Zero face him in an open challenge and these guys keep showing up instead. It feels like an episode of Monday Night Raw, I swear to god...

Oh god dammit, now Sektor and Cyrax are in attendance and fight Scorp in a handicap match. That sounds like I'm adding more wrestling references to make this a joke. It really is a two on one. All this is real. Fuck my life.

Okay, now Scorpion finally fights Sub. He's refusing to finish him though because Raiden (FINALLY doing something to try to prevent the stuff in his visions) promises if he lets him live, he'll ask the Elder Gods to bring the Shirai Ryu back. But Shang provokes Scorpion into doing it anyway with...visions of his family or by morphing into them or something? I'm not sure. Either way, Bi-Han still dies like he did in the old canon.

By the way, Sektor and Cyrax are totally still human at this point. They and Sub-Zero have a TON of dialogue between each other arguing about whether or not they agree with "the cyber initiative".

Oh, and while I'm talking about the Lin Kuei, Sub's MK1 bio about being hired to assassinate Shang? Retconned out. The three of them have been hired BY Shang to assassinate his enemies in the tournament.

Aaand next, Cyrax fights Johnny. The bullshit just keeps on coming.

I can roll with all of that but

Also, couldn't a fan fiction be just as organized, if not more?
If this leak really wasn't fabricated, couldn't the MK team purposely have leaked false information?

No, not with a BS demo leak. I can't believe people are delusional enough to think this demo stuff is fake considering how much stuff is found in other games via hacking demos or websites or whatever.

Razor, I have stated this many times about this game, yet you seemed to not ever believe that what I said had any merit. I said this game was likely going to be a way for NRS to retell the story, in ways that are beyond actual story reasoning. Meaning, there will be stuff that's changed or altered that have nothing to do with Raiden whatsoever. Raiden is merely a plot point, but the real reasoning behind all of this, is for NRS to rewrite it all the way they wish for it to be, regardless of the way it was before. It's a reboot. This is the new MK. this will be the new canon. The MKA time travel is just a way to make it sorta have a storyline reasoning, as to not make it a total reboot, to keep everyone "happy" so to speak.

I've felt it would be this way from day one. They are changing things to make them the way they want, regardless of Raiden's actual influence capabilities. Characters and events will be completely altered to better fit the story in their new vision. This is not a remake, it's a reboot, a retelling of the whole story, but with things being changed. Some things may be better, some may be worse, but they are made to make the whole story mesh better for this game and future games.

it's dialog in story mode. When Raiden is talking to Quan Chi:

1=7,126,The Elder Gods cannot help them. Their souls are mine.

2=137,230,Kitana. Nightwolf. Kung Lao.
I'm wondering if their names are said because they're dead or what. I believe I read where Kung Lao dies, but I'm confused with the other two.

Oh, there's no stopping now. I'm gonna have to play through this shit anyway. Better I be mad now and have grown used to it in a month than full of rage while I'm trying to play.

On the bright side, they seem to be acknowledging that Mythologies (or some variant of its events) is still canon.

After Scorpion kills Bi-Han, Raiden says "An unfortunate end. He once defended Earthrealm from the Netherrealm armies of Shinnok and Quan Chi."


Anyway, on we go, almost to the end of MK1.

Cyrax and Sektor have an argument that ends with Cyrax apparently abandoning the clan. Looks like they're totally stealing Smoke's "the one who's tragically changed against his will and wants to be human again" story to pawn it off on Cyrax. That's bullshit. Smoke was the best cyberninja and you'll never change that, MK9. You'll never change that.

Raiden is now explaining to Liu what that amulet that he wears on his costume in this game is all about. Apparently, it was a gift from the Elder Gods and when he first received the message from his future self, it mysteriously cracked. "If we choose wisely, the future will be secured and the cracks healed."

Liu fights Ermac. Meh. He was supposed to be there in secret in the old canon anyway, but like Reptile, he wasn't supposed to be on the goddamned bracket. Still...not as bad a change as Baraka, Sektor, and Cyrax...

Kitana appears. Fortunately, she's not a goddamn part of the tournament I don't think. She's just trying to assassinate Liu for her father 'cause he's close to the final rounds.

They have some really charming dialogue between them after he beats her. I have to say, they've written the first meeting between the two WAYYYYY better than that "You just attacked me...but I'm going to blurt out 'You're beautiful!'" shit in Shaolin Monks.

Like I said, I love the way the dialogue is written. I just despise the continuity lies they're trying to tell.

It is now clear to me that I must follow along with these revelations and just absorb the story as we go. I guess I don't mind anymore, I'll still have to play the game out to see the events unfold. And there's a lot more to this game than just some story.

It's not only that. We're just getting the dialog, we can't see what's going on. So some of the dialog is a little confusing. I really want to see it played out, the dialog is really good in my opinion...

Even though I haven't delved into the story part yet, or the arcade endings, it's really not a HUGE deal. I mean, I hate that they have been leaked, but for us hardcore MK fans, we'll still love the game and play the shit out of it regardless if we know the story. Plus,. reading text, and actually seeing everything and experiencing everything will be a comletely different feeling.

Razor,are there any things you actually liked so far? I've been only glimpsing some of the spoilers (BECAUSE I CAN'T FUCKING HELP MYSELF AND I HATE EVERY ONE OF YOU),but I'm still starting to feel a bit bummed. ;_;

Actually,on the second look,I liked some parts of new details like Kano's backstory,that eliminates crappy Hsu Hao and a lot of unnecesarry background characters.

Ermac's ending is surprise...good surprise...

Sub-Zero...Well,I will post tweets on Boon tomorrow...

Not being familiar with how common video-game hacks occur via demos doesn't typically make somebody delusional.
