Continuing my read-through, still in the MK1 stuff...

Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
The dialogue is unclear...but I think Jax gets his arms mangled or tortured or something while he's locked up by Shang, because when Sonya comes to find him, they're talking like he's gravely injured and she has to help him out. So...I guess that's how they're getting him his bionic arms earlier on instead of having him playable without them like he was in MK2.

So Cyber-Sub Zero is canon......I can't say I necessarily agree with this direction NRS chooses to go with the most (if not that, one of the most) popular characters in this franchise. It won't ruin the character for me, but I can't help but feel a little disappointed.


Wow. I read a bit of Crow's thing. I'm truly shocked. I need to stop now before I read everything.

Baraka is still a dumbass.

Liu Kang turns into a jerk.

*Facepalms*

The only endings I liked were-

Sonya's, Kintaro's, Cyrax's, and Jade's. There were a few more but my mind is fried from reading all of that.

The bios seemed pretty cool. Well, now that the game is semi-ruined for me(I REFUSE to read any of the story mode spoilers, though I accidentally read a bit of them, ugh) I'll go down a bottle of pills and wait for the end.

Some of this wackiness would be so much easier to take if it was a storyling that was definitively moving forward. Seems like scattershot fan-fic grade stuff, so far. Not all together surprising, given that we've known the premise since the beginning. It was always going to be redundancy, or silliness. Sobering news... (assuming it's true)...

A lot of the shit I've posted so far that's different from the way it was the first time, like

Baraka in the tournament and Jax in the dungeon
? Raiden hasn't changed history yet! He still hasn't acted on his vision at all, they're pretending like this is the way things went the first time!

There's just no way Mileena's alternate would be the end game reward. Mike Birkhead, the designer describing End Game in the Challenge Tower video, would sound rather creepy if that were to be true.

Kinda upset that Robot Smoke, Motaro, Rain, Human Sektor, Scarred SZ, and Shao Kahn don't appear playable. But thats just my own selfish variety prefrences, I'm sure most of you are just fine with the final roster. And hey, gotta leave something in for DLC right?

I tried not to read bio/endings, but I couldn't hold off on some of them. I read Smoke's and Reptile's. Smoke's seems kinda weird (hes....European?), but hopefully its cool. I hope that Robo-Smoke is atleast an alternate of his. And Endgame is Mileena's 3rd outfit wtf? That part was misread, right?

Other than that, how are we liking story mode so far? I don't want to know any details other than- is it good? Do most of you approve? Are the bios/endings good? Some of them don't make sense it seems. Like Kabal being a cop apparently. I always thought he was evil...Whatever. And it sounds like they switched around a whole lot, for the better though?

Theres 5 more maps we didn't know about? Thats it? We have a good number I guess, but I thought there would be even more.

Like I said, this is the worst leak I've seen here in 9 years of doing this site. I regret opening that file, but I just couldn't stop myself from doing it. They seriously need to get a handle on some of this; someone made a gross oversight including virtually every scrap of data in the game in a tiny little demo.

I said before (and probably others have as well) that the huge end game reward was going to be something really dumb and minor and that the MK guys were bullshitting you. It's what they've been doing since MK2.

That's one of the biggest cop outs I've heard about for this game, since the storyline was detailed by Ed Boon.

Here's another one. No Raiden interference involved. (Well, finally a little Raiden interference at the end. But the stuff I have a problem with, has nothing to do with him changing history.)

Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
Kung Lao has snuck away to the tournament trying to prove he's as good as Liu Kang, similar to how he did in Shaolin Monks. Except this time, Shang discovers he's there and makes him fight Scorpion.

Scorpion beats him and lets him live. Then fucking Nightwolf turns out to be at the tournament too! Scorpion also beats but doesn't kill him. This whole time, Scorpion has been demanding Sub-Zero face him in an open challenge and these guys keep showing up instead. It feels like an episode of Monday Night Raw, I swear to god...

Oh god dammit, now Sektor and Cyrax are in attendance and fight Scorp in a handicap match. That sounds like I'm adding more wrestling references to make this a joke. It really is a two on one. All this is real. Fuck my life.

Okay, now Scorpion finally fights Sub. He's refusing to finish him though because Raiden (FINALLY doing something to try to prevent the stuff in his visions) promises if he lets him live, he'll ask the Elder Gods to bring the Shirai Ryu back. But Shang provokes Scorpion into doing it anyway with...visions of his family or by morphing into them or something? I'm not sure. Either way, Bi-Han still dies like he did in the old canon.

By the way, Sektor and Cyrax are totally still human at this point. They and Sub-Zero have a TON of dialogue between each other arguing about whether or not they agree with "the cyber initiative".

Oh, and while I'm talking about the Lin Kuei, Sub's MK1 bio about being hired to assassinate Shang? Retconned out. The three of them have been hired BY Shang to assassinate his enemies in the tournament.

Aaand next, Cyrax fights Johnny. The bullshit just keeps on coming.
Honestly...I really like the dialogue...but the shit they're pulling with these retcons fills me with a rage I'm not sure what to do with.
