I'm sure everybody here is going to buy Mortal Kombat new but I'm "butthurt" over this because I buy many game on the 2nd hand market due to the fact that most games today are half assed multiplayer games with almost zero replay value. And yes to someone like myself who lives alone $10 can be a big deal.
They haven't tanked because they're too ashamed of themselves to mention anything about this on the package j/k...sorta, After word gets around maybe. Hope not...but i can think of more than a few people I know who don't have the love of Mk that I do and will boycott on principle.

Is this a realistic scenario? As in, has it ever happened before?
Also, who/where does the majority of consumers money go to anyway, when they buy the game? And to which positions in the company(WB/Netherrealm)?

I reckon it's the principle of "giving greedy corporate fucks the finger when they treat you like a criminal for buying used games".

I dont get the sense of entitlement here. You guys do realize it costs money to maintain Servers, right? It makes perfect sense to have to pay for online usage if you bought a second hand copy, considering that WB & NRS dont see any money from those purchases otherwise.

I agree. Clearly if you buy it used then you don't really care to begin with, and 4-6 hours is still enough to find out if the multiplayer is worth it.
All of these people who think that WB is a crooked big business is full of shit. Gamestop is a crooked big business. Every time you buy a used game that game publisher and developer is losing money, and Gamestop is gaining money. So the franchises you know and love are getting screwed. Ironicly the same company distributing games is fucking the game makers.

I could have told you that a month ago when I read it in the big giant hacked file. :P
Its not just buying 2nd hand...its the EVIL practice of USED CIRCUMVENTION! that's why not a single company has ever successfully produced any new product before. ever. 2nd hand circumvention man...gets ya every time. Just ask Henry Ford about that fancy automatic horse he tried to sell once.

My question is, what happens if you change systems?
What I mean is, I buy the game new and I'm enjoying the on-line play. Suddenly my system fries, brakes, Red Ring/Dot of Death, whatever and I need to get a new system so I can keep playing.
Will the code transfer to the new system as it linked to my account like other DLC? Or am I boned and have to buy a new code as it is a one time use code and I used it up on the old system?

You have to get on xbox.com and register your new console and then do a license transfer that transfers all the licenses to your new console. It can only be done once a year.
........................................
As far as people calling this bullshit.
When someone purchases a game USED the game developers do not earn any money. The online pass helps them get a little profit off of used games as well. Of course it doesn't seem right, but it is what it is. No reason to bitch because it won't change.
Luckily for me I don't play online much anyway. I have mk paid off already and i'll have the code in the game case that i'll use.

That was just an honest question. I protest EB/Gamestop because i feel that when i buy something, the bulk of the profit should go to those who bring us the product. Im just wondering what principle your referring to.

Do you not see the greed in the sense of entitlement here? Its easy to point out everyone else' flaws and such but then you have people here talking about stealing it cuz they want WB to pay for their online usage.

Look at the PSP, Piracy MURDERED that platform which is why 3rd party developers abandoned it.

Car companies dont typically give extended service to used buyers.

And what does everybody do when they trade games into Gamestop? By new games with the credit! So I don't want hear how Gamestop is killing the video game market. If anything Gamestop has helped video games become bigger and put them into more peoples hands.

Because I may not be able to afford a game at full price and would rather try to save at least $10 on a purchase, that makes me a criminal who "clearly doesn't care to begin with"?

Didn't nearly even MK title in the last generation sell well into the Greatest Hits territory?
Hell, the KE and the TE are completely sold out at most retain outlets. If there's one thing NRS won't be doing this year,it's starving.

Yes not typically but some do, in fact my girl friend just got a used car and the extended service is still good.

The code will be attached to your online account. So if you log in with that on the new system, you should still be able to play online.
