I'd buy them without a question and would SPAM the hell out of Freddy Krueger lol!!!

I think out of all possible guest characters these are definitely the most deserving:

1. Freddy Krueger
2. Jason Vorhees
3. Black Orchid from KI
4. Akuma, Ryu, or Chun Li from SF

No One Else Allowed!!!

This may be the only way for Freddy/Jason fans to ever get to see their favorite horror flick characters as fightable characters in an EPIC fighting game that people will actually want to play, so for those that want them (MOST) should be allowed the opportunity to download them for their own option, regardless how Kratos did on the PS3.

I'm a long-term MK fan and have spent many many many hours/days/years on these type threads and know there's not much more the MK world can do except change things around/story and add guest characters with no story to their addition. I mean were almost at # 10 in the series the big X, and we're still practically repeating the same ol same ol MK1-3 for the what 9th time now. We're in need of something to talk about and not the addition of Nitara, Havik, Tanya, Fujin, yeah they'd be great but now's the time to jump far and shine.

Grumble you may now, but in shock you'll be once you try them out! They do indeed fit this exact game to the tee.

I'd actually buy these two purely out of curiosity. I don't see why they shouldn't be at least an optional DLC for halloween. It's not like NRS are forcing them upon us and they won't exactly be a permanent fixture in future games. Just a bit of fun and some variety. If the price was decent I'd give this one a go.

While there is name value in these horror icons, by the time Halloween comes up the casual fan may have already stopped playing Mortal Kombat. So as a selling point guest characters quickly become a non factor. If NRS released these two instead of Skarlet there would be a better chance to sell them. I'm not saying they won't get sales for these two down the road, but definitely won't be as high as they'd want. Big MK fans are going to be their target down the road and I'm getting a vibe it's a 50/50 thing here.

I'm a fan of several franchises and characters, and I have no aversion to crossing any of them over. But one reason I'd love to have Freddy and Jason as DLC is specifically because in MK's oriental atmosphere, they'd stand out. Because there are many MK characters I'd love to see them fight, and some I'd love to see them butcher.

Freddy and Jason aren't even good designs. When you take them out of the context of their films, they're just bland and ugly.

Yeah sure, you can predict the future. And so what if they're never seen again? Doesn't mean it wouldn't be worth the effort of creating unique moves for them.

Barring characters like Fujin and Reiko who could actually expand the MK storyline to include Freddy and Jason, who by the way haven't contributed anything artistically worthwhile in over 15 years = unreasonable.

This is how I feel about it as well more or less.

My guess is that the question was raised internally at NRS as sort of "what's something fun and different we can design for Halloween DLC in October?".
NRS has already shown an interest in incorporating non-canon guest characters with Kratos. While more post MK 1-3 characters would undoubtedly be welcomed, NRS likely wants to save those for MK 10. Otherwise NRS literally would find themselves shoehorning the entire roster of MK 10 into MK9. That being said, I'd rather see Michael Myers, Pinhead, or Pumpkin Head over Freddy and Jason. I think commercially though Freddy and Jason are more widely known.

I'd love to have these characters along with Freddy and Jason. Other horror icons of my choice would be Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster and Ash from the Evil Dead series.

Guest characters should always come with their own backgrounds, especially when said backgrounds could involve potential stage fatalities.

Here's an idea for one: Crystal Lake camp.

You'd fight near the river, with a boat around. The stage fatality would see the winner uppercuting or throwing the loser on said boat, with Jason's young self coming out of the water, grabbing the opponent from behind and dragging him/her down with him.

As being a massive fan of both franchises and growing up with them just like I did with Mortal Kombat, I'd buy these the minute they came out. Only problem is I live in Australia and dont know how to go around the DLC barrier (help anyone?)

Freddy could have some fucking sweet moves and fatalities being the dream psychokiller he is. Jason is just fucking badass. Would happily have these two in Mortal Kombat. For me, its simply a huge plus. When I was younger, I actually really wanted them to make a fighting game all with just horror movie icons. Imagine a game with Freddy, Jason, Pinhead and the Cenobites, Leatherface, Michael Myers, Chucky, Ghostface, The Jeepers Creepers guy, Candyman, Frankenstein, Wolfman, Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Dr. Satan and co., Blade and co. and some zombies and vampires in their for good measure.

But I've been thinking lately, that Jason has a great chance of being in this game.

1. He's been rumored a'plenty

2. He fits the 4th DLC character's silhouette

3. "He would fit in MK"

4. The 4th character's story is unknown and mysterious

5. He would be worth keeping a secret

6. Casual gamers would love him like a spouse

So while I still think this 4th DLC character is Tremor or Hornbuckle, I must say, I wouldn't be surprised to see Jason.

I love Freddy and Jason, but even though I got the seasons pass, I still would not download them or anyone who isn't an MK character. I play MK.....for MK, not they other way around. Make them a seperate download they charge extra for, good, but they sure as hell better not be part of the pass or any unwanted "guest".

When i heard that PS3 was getting Kratos i said "whatever, i want MK characters anyway"

I really hope they will sitck to MK based characters ( after i played mkvsdc i didnt know what mortal kombat was anymore! )

ill throw my hat in with everyone else that says they wouldnt mind having them as halloween DLC. though its most likely nothing but a rumor....still..it'd be interesting to see Jason rip Johnny Cage apart, and hear Robert Englund's Freddy cracking jokes while whoopin ass. I guess only time will tell, tho i still say its nothing but a rumor.
