Shinnok is an awesome character and has alot to do with the storyline, unfortunatly he was introduced in an awful game and that puts points against him. Although he was in Mk mythologies and that takes place before mk3

I Believe he will make a cameo at best. Immagine this game ends after a great struggle, raiden's ambitions gain the upper hands with the help of earthrealm warriors. Giving a somewhat calming feel but not an all out feel of victory.
Raiden knows whats about to happen though, mentions Shinnok's coming attack. Looks to the horizon with the earthrealm warriors. A watermarked render of Shinnok stains the Sky. End.
Perfectly sets up for the next game. Right back into the plot.

Low at best. This game is about MK1-3 which focuses on Shao Kahn as the main villain. Perhaps Shinnok will make a cameo, but I doubt we'll see him as a playable character unless he's one of the "surprises" Boon talked about. In fact, if I remember correctly he was banished to the Netherrealm until the end of MK3, when Quan Chi used the amulet to set him free

Honestly, it's slim to none... If the MK Team really alters the story to include him, I don't think it'll happen in this installment.

I doubt Shinnok will be in this game, atleast as a playable character. I think there will be a lot of reference to him in story mode, and possibly in the opening FMV since he had a lot to do in the cause of Armageddon. Since this game is a sequel to MK:A, they should at least show what happened to him and how come Shao Kahn and Raiden are the last one's standing, and not him.
I expect Shinnok to be referred to a lot in this game.

I like the idea of leading into the Shinnok arc once the game is over... maybe it can start raining dead gods at the end of the game and Fujin comes plummeting down and tells Raiden about the invasion, and the game ends
Ah, Shinnok. The big, intimidating bad guy of MK4 that was neither big nor intimidating. Good intentions for him, but even Boon admits making him the main villain of Mk4 was a mistake, and I agree.
He could still be in the game, but I've never found him to be interesting to look at. Not bad with powers, gameplay, story, or fatality, but his generic design just bothers me.

Shinnok as far as canon dictates is badass and super powerful. It just so happens he plays like every other MK character so no one seems him as a "boss" type character. Personally I like that about him.
Hopefully he'll pop up in the next game but I think they should leave him out of this one.

I'm guessing he'll be DLC... the only Post-MK 3 character I can see making it is Quan Chi...

Shinnok has great potential but and there is a big BUT... Change his clown image! He looks stupid and not intimidating at all! I liked mk back in the day when mk Bosses where not playable. Because when they are made playable they are toned down a lot. Remember how difficult it was to defeat Shao Kahn in mk2 and mk3? (If you got passed Kintaro and Motaro that is)

Shinnok is one of my favorites in MKA. I think his alternate costume design looks awesome. What a real sorcerer should look like. The oly change I would make is to make him a little darker; darker skin, darker clothes, maybe the skeleton hands could look a little bit more intimidating, perhaps something new with his eyes, etc.
I really like his story, how he is the original villain, just like Lucifer in the bible. Cast into Hell, he returned after X-million years. They should have given him the skeleton hands moves and dark robe outfit from the get-go, but instead they tried to do a dumbed-down version of Shang Tsung.
Everything about him screams "Mortal Kombat Villain" I think he's a keeper for sure... and that's saying a lot because I generally don't like male characters.
Although I think he's a great character, his chances of being in the game are extremely slim based on what we've heard from Boon. Hopefully next time though.

Shinnok is a great character but was debuted badly in MK4. He has potential and is every bit the bad guy. His chances of being in this game are low, imo. I agree with Casselman that we may just see him as a cameo at best.

Just checking... Is Shinnok a sorcerer or a banished Elder God? Beacause if it is the latter then he should be all powerfull like old Raiden and Fujin. I just think he is an evil being so make him look evil!

Shinnok's a former Elder God, Quan Chi's the sorcerer that helped him...

So if you lose your Elder God status does that mean you lose your power as well? Can he only use the skeleton hands because he resided in the Neather Realm where he learned to use the realms dark power or is it a power that he always had?

I really wanted to like him as a bad god-type (sorta like Darkseid vs Superman), but he sucked so hard and it just ruined him for me. Since he came out of MK4, i think it's minimal he'll show up in MK9. A cameo?...maybe. DLC...I think that's stretching it. No chance as a playable character on the start up roster though.
He's one character that desperately needs a revamp before he comes back. He's not scary, ex-godly, or really anything enough.

Chance of being in the startup roster: None
Chance of being a DLC character: Medium to Low
I loved Shinnok as a villain. It felt like a return to MK1, where the villain wasn't a big brute that threatened to shoulder barge and whack you with a stone hammer if you disobeyed him. Shinnok felt more nefarious, Shao Kahn felt more like a selfish conqueror. I'd like for him to make a cameo at the very least, since it seems like he's the one that's really running the show on the "dark side."
Though I don't think his chances of being playable are all that great, sadly. Quan Chi looks to be far more popular.

I think Shinnok and Quan Chi might be mentioned in certain bios (ie Noob's) and might appear as background characters in the story mode, but will not be playable unless as DLC. They will be like Shao Kahn was in the original MK game, the big shot giving the orders that we don't see until the next game.

I need a great pic here. Edenian people would be my fav. Inbox me pls.

I think he was great!! I didn't care for MK4 but I really tried to get into the story and like it. Shinnok was one reason I liked it. Tanya (JLO/Kitana rip-off) wasn't........anyway....I think he has NOT had a chance to show his power. He has a smaller frame than Shao Kahn but I think he is more powerful.
I'd like to see him in the story mode and in a L O T of endings!!!!
I would like to see a choice Raiden makes due to his new "knowledge" push Shinnoks plans faster.

I had no idea there was so much hate for Shinnok. I love the guy in all incarnations.
EDIT: only gripes were that he was playable and had Shang's psuedo-morph ability. Both stupid, IMO.

Shinnok is my favorite villain, as well as one of my favorite characters.
Hopefully, He'll make the cut.
