Actually, I'm a simple person to please. I just like a little effort thrown in is all. Raiden looks EXACTLY how he did in MK9, which does NOT fit this game at all. He needed a new look to fit the dark atmosphere of this game but they've instead were lazy and didn't even try. The other returning MK9 vets may look better- one can hope, but I'm more excited to see more MK4-MKD and all new characters. Raiden just killed any hype I had for returning MK9 fighters from a design stand point. Boring, boring, boring.


Understandable. I saw the still picture of him, and the design isn't exactly exciting. They definitely could have done more with it, especially when you compare it to Scorpion, Sub-Zero and the leaked Ermac concept art.


Mhm exactly. I'm not saying they should've gone nuts and made him unrecognizable, but damn, at least make me feel like I'm looking at the MKX version of Raiden- something that makes this version stand out. There's nothing here. It's as boring as Sheeva always wearing that damn red bikini in every game she appears in.

Raiden looks like a boss in the picture in the first post. The pose, the lightening around his arms and the eyes...it is perfect.

I like the fact that as NRS have already mentioned that they want to keep costumes simpler and the textures of the cloth more realistic. I am happy with the design of Raiden. I like the decoration on the blue parts of his design. Something new but distinct.

The variations are very interesting and bring different ways to play him. Props to NRS for the treatment. The Thunder God variation looks to be combo focused, while Displacer has the teleport as an anti zoning tool while Storm Lord is an entirely new take with the electric traps.

Overall very happy with Raiden. NRS has done a fantastic job with him from this look. It gives me great confidence to see what they can fashion with the other characters.

I can not wait!

I can't believe you'd base your entire opinion on Raiden by his design alone. Just curious, do you not give a shit about gameplay at all? I mean jeez even people who hate his design say his combos and variations are good.

I hate Glacius' design in the new KI but that don't stop me from playing him.

I'm strictly talking from a DESIGN stand point. Other than his horrible, boring, 25 year old outdated look- he seems like a beast. Love his variations and his fatality.

this is also my complain about Raiden. But i still have hope.. because i didn't see his alternate costume yet :D

Whether you love or hate Raiden, the good thing about MK is the vast variety of fighters to choose from. One person's meh is another's zomg! Some people just are not fans of Raiden, and that is fine. I am not a fan of Cassie Cage, and am still embarrassed for NRS they showed her @ E3. So, to each their own. All the haters only inspire me to master the shit out of Raiden, then take him online to make believers in the power of thunder! wow

Exactly! lol

Honestly though I'm not sure I hate ANY MK character. There are some who are just kind of "meh" compared to the ones I truly love but I don't really dislike any character.

I was going to note how I loved the detail in the linen socks on Raiden;s foot during the x-ray kick. People who missed it take another look at the individual threads on his foot. Little things like this impress me.

Story mode wise, if I were Cassie, I'd be rather hesitant on listening to Raiden.

Then again, the only person who could really tell her why it's not a great idea got deep fried by said Thunder God.

Yes, exactly. They did the same with yellow part of Scorpion's costume. It seems that NRS are taking the time and effort to put the care in the costumes. Impressive. Looks like they are putting their heart and soul into the game. I have full confidence they can deliver on what I have seen so far.

One of his looks in this game needs to be showing his silver hair, sans hat. Like Raiden from the movies. There was one MK game before that actually featured a Raiden costume like that but I can't remember for sure which one it was. Was it DA or Deception? Or was it Armageddon? Anyhow, I think it was ONE of the "3D era" games.

Yup. Simple, yet very well detailed/executed. Just because the costumes aren't going to be super elaborate(according to Boon) doesn't mean they won't be well detailed. I love little details like that, too.

Happy to see my 3rd fav in the game, lotta ppl I know hold a grudge now against Raiden because of the story but I won't blame him really, it did piss me off though that even quan chi is wiser then Raiden which is stupid since his a damn thunder god he should be the wisest.

But in any case I loved his teleport attacks and seem to have some sweet set ups and of course glad to hear his ramble is still there grin

I'm liking Raiden look in MKX. Its simple and doesn't change too much like in the original timline until MKDA. I am really happy that they brought back the lighting that use to surround Raiden all the time before MK9. I also hope we get a hd pic of Raiden because I'd love to look at the designs on the blue part of his outfit. I think I saw clouds, but the footage wasn't very clear.

Okay, I finally saw the actual gameplay trailer they revealed Raiden in, and...

There is a VERY high chance of Raiden being my main in this game. Wow.
