Again, to clarify, I do not think anything is wrong with liking a character based on just an appearance. I love Kira, mostly based on her appearance. She's my second favorite character.

In terms of a "good/great design', however, i feel the appearance should be reflective of the character, which in this case we know to little about to judge yet. Once I hear his bio or see his gameplay, maybe I'll be able to appreciate it more.

I think most think this is Salazar, so we kind of already know his personality and backstory in a way. He's an American who somehow found his way into Outworld and started selling his skills to warlords, including his current master Kotal. He's the silent type, and very intelligent and dangerous.

If that's not appealing to you, that's on you. Don't try to police what people can like and not like.

I have not policed what anyone said. if i did i would have quoted them.

i really cant with people putting words in my mouth. My post are all "i, i, i.." not "you you you"

I just need to make a topic called:

"ATTN: YOU ALL ARE NOT ALLOWED TO LIKE ERRON BLACK" so then yall could hound me there

also its presumed salazar, but not confirmed.

You're the one putting words in my mouth, lol. I didn't say "stop doing it"; I said "don't do it".

I just can't see him coming back alive, maybe as a spectre or wraith, possibly the next Noob Saibot. But no way he's healing after his brain being sliced in half.

Kitana and Kung lao and them most likely revived during the Neatherealm War so thats there loop hole, I cant see anyone dying in the comic to come back alive and be in MKX(maybe a future game though)

But seriously if Erron dies, MK fans going to outrage.

As much as I like the idea of a guy who just gave himself a shave with a Gillette Mach 666 razor and got the jump on Scorpion and his entire clan, there doesn't seem to be much to Fox aside from being a temporary pawn used to kill off the Shirai Ryu. No distinctive arts, just enough personality to lend a sense of menace to the scene. Sure, he could be resurrected, but it seems just as viable for the mystery entity to simply wander off and find another random vessel.

He had potential, but I'm preeeetty sure he's gone.

I can see Erron Black in my kind as the polite and quiet Clint-Eastwood like mercenary in a Southwestern accent contrast to Kano's rude and loud persona. Those two are bound to hit heads together. Who knows maybe Erron can be a new ally and protagonist to the good guys. A mercenary, but the complete sympathetic opposite of Kano.

Yeah, he is the kind of character you could see turning into a reluctant ally to the good guys later down the line.

I wonder how his first name is pronounced. I am assuming it's pronounced just like the name Aaron.

The gunslinger look is cool, and MK is overdue for a character in that vain, so if nothing else, Erron Black has that going for him. But right now there isn't much to him as a character. We'll see what happens in the next 2 or 3 issues. For all we know, Black gets killed next week.

To be fair, Fox's look was not nearly as immediately striking; it was very bare-bones, nothing special. Same with Suchin.

The fact that Erron's outfit is so intricately detailed, in addition to the Salazar similarities, gives me hope that Erron isn't a throw-away. And if he is, then NRS has seriously confused me. How do they let a design like that get away?

Erron Black looks way too detailed in the comic not to be in the game. Why else would IGN be releasing a new character trailer so close to the latest comic release? I'm willing to bet he is going to be officially revealed as the new character on Tuesday.

If you take either of the potentially new characters revealed in the comics so far, be it Jackui, Fox, Takeda, or Erron, you can't deny the fact that Erron stands out the most prominent out of them all. Not saying the others won't be in the game, there is still time in the storyline up until MKX happens for these young characters to age and become new characters, but as it stands Erron looks presentable and very detailed as much as Kotal Kahn and D'Vorah.

Also, has it been said that Black is part of the Red Dragon? I don't even think he's from Earthrealm, he could be from Outworld from all we know. He seems to be the weapon expert, maybe he is the owner of the arm with bow picture tease Ed tweeted. That bow could be made from from the bones of a creature from Outworld.

Black's definitely not part of the Red Dragon, or else he wouldn't be working for Kotal. I think he looks a lot like an Earthrealmer, especially with the cowboy getup, and he certainly is one if he's Salazar. I don't believe he's the bow guy, as there's not a bow or any arrows to be seen on him. It looks like his speciality is almost entirely guns.

I'm one of the few not getting the hype behind the character, if he does get killed off I'm not looking forward to a million threads and comments about how wasted his potential was, despite appearing on two panels in a comic.

I'm also not getting everyone's obsession with pinning the name "Salazar" to everything. Yet another character not confirmed to be in the game. I'm all for speculation, but not every piece of the puzzle is meant to be jammed together.

He fits the description of Salazar that was given by the casting call for the web series. He looks like a quiet loner..like Salazar was described as being...he loks like he is most likely American...like Salazar was described as being...he is a henchman for Kotal Kahn...like Salazar was described as being...he looks like he could be a mercenary...like Salazar was described as being...and his specialty is guns, and what was Salazar described as? Ah, yes, a "weapons expert".

There's a reason why people think he is Salazar.

People also tried to shoehorn the name Salazar onto the character holding the longbow/staff thing. Purely because he was holding a weapon. I'm not dismissing the possibility entirely, but I don't understand why people are so desperately forcing every tidbit of information they've been given together as if it's already telling a story. Just chill. It will all be revealed in due time.

Man, this is a discussion forum. There's going to be speculation, that's what we do. People have also been suggesting that character to be everything from Fujin to Nightwolf to Bo Rai Cho, and those names will probably come up again, so I'm not sure why suggesting it to be a new character we've heard about is what crosses the line. Also, that is a lot more strong evidence listed above than just him holding a weapon.

I know. I've been ghosting this forum for a long time, I've seen a lot of speculation and a lot of people miss the mark entirely. It just seems a lot of people are getting their hopes up for nothing.

- Kotal is going to lose a close ally in the next issue, it's not D'Vorah as she is confirmed to be in the game.

- Erron said nothing and did nothing, which would make him a lot easier to kill off. It could have been him defending Kotal's honour, but it wasn't, which could be an implication that he's not important to the story at all.

- It's entirely possible that they will introduce a character to kill in the next issue and keep Erron around, the foreshadowing suggests otherwise.

- The live action series and the video game canon's regularly have little in common. I doubt that they would change that now. Salazar and Erron Black could be counterparts but I doubt they're the same character.

Obviously I could be entirely off the mark myself, but I don't have my hopes up on these assumptions.

"- Erron said nothing and did nothing, which would make him a lot easier to kill off. It could have been him defending Kotal's honour, but it wasn't, which could be an implication that he's not important to the story at all."

Or it's an implication of his personality as being more of the silent type than anything. He doesn't have to be offended on Kotal's behalf like D'Vorah. Also, who's making assumptions now? wink

"- It's entirely possible that they will introduce a character to kill in the next issue and keep Erron around, the foreshadowing suggests otherwise."

The thing is, I'm not seeing a whole lot of foreshadowing here. If Erron was going to die, I think the comic would be putting more emphasis on his relationship with Kotal and having him do more in the time he has left, much like it did with Fox to Takeda. It could be argued that the little that Erron does this issue could suggest that the writer's not rushing anything with him because he'll have lots of issues to show off the character, and he's not running on any limited time. Or it could be because each chapter only has a small number of pages and space has got to be used wisely. tongue Heck, there's also still the potential that the mystery ninja with Kotal at the end of Chapter 3 is the one who bites the dust. Or it could be someone that we'll be introduced to in his origin story in a couple of chapters.

"- The live action series and the video game canon's regularly have little in common. I doubt that they would change that now. Salazar and Erron Black could be counterparts but I doubt they're the same character."

From what we know, that won't be the case here. This isn't going to be exactly like Legacy. The series is based directly off of what's going on in MKX and tying into it, with the initial description talking about how it's going to introduce several of the "next generation" characters. Scorpion's description in the casting call even talks about how he's with Quan Chi when the Netherrealm War starts, which is definitely game canon.

Yeah, Erron could easily die here. I could be easily off-base, and these assumptions are just little more than that. He could be a completely separate character from Salazar. I'm already getting myself ready for it. But his design, his similarities to a character from the webseries that's tying into the game alongside the comic... I think he's more likely to not be a throw-away character than he is to be one.

I think (hope?) MK is done with resurrecting characters without explaining how they came back. Not an apt comparison.

The day they turn Erron Black into a goodguy, is the day they can seriously kill him off for all I care.

That is the day that Erron Black becomes boring as heaven and should be ended.

Keep him neutral/evil/mysterious, don't turn him good, good characters often have stupid storylines.

I think Kotal loses another ally, he obviously has a lot, Ferra/Torr, D'vorah, Reptile and this Erron Black dude.
