I took notice of that as well.

3 Variations combined with the fact that 1 single variation is leaps and bounds better than mk9 movesets. I am thinking 24 characters is the final number.

Boons interview saying there would be 30 or so character's I am starting to believe was with DLC included.

I were hoping they'd do more with his appearance. Meh. He plays great though and he's one of the characters I'd hoping would make the cut.

I just haven't been very impressed with many of the returning characters designs at all. Kano aside.

:( Man, these are the best versions of these characters yet, IMO. That seems to be the common reaction each time someone is revealed. So it sucks to see some aren't digging them.

I think it's me. I'm probably expecting way too much in terms of re-designs. Raiden and Quan Chi were two characters I wanted to look near unrecognizable. But that's just tough balls for me.

OMG!!
Quan Chi finally looks badass again!!
Love the costume, reminds me of MK4, which in my opinion was the best version so far. Did not like the other versions because they made him "weak".
Definitly a favourite for me, Hell Yeah!!!

Probably so. Now it is starting to make me wonder- With the default character space so tight, will the whole "most new characters ever" line ring true? Because all we've been getting since E3 is returning vets, who knows when we'll see the rest of the new characters. I think it would be best to start alternating with the vets and newbies instead of leaving all the new characters to be revealed last. But let's say it's 12 returning, 12 new-

Scorpion
Sub-Zero
Raiden
Quan Chi
Sonya(Highly Speculated)
Johnny(Highly Speculated)
Liu Kang (Highly Speculated)
Shinnok (Highly Speculated)
Reptile (Highly Speculated)
Ermac (Highly Speculated)
Fujin (Highly requested)
Tanya (Highly requested)

These might be our returning vets. I left Goro unlisted because he's DLC. Characters like Kitana, Ermac, Mileena ect will probably become DLC as well. Either way Kitana is making it in. She seems to be this game's Rain, as in there's a huge demand for her.

Guys.......

-"His plans are fully realized"

-No Amulet

-Nobody sees that SKULL WITHIN HIS ARMOR!?

Quan Chi killed Shinnok. I'm truly scared now. He either is drawing power from Shinnok's skull or is keeping it for some sort of trophy. Perhaps the amulet was absorbed or within Shinnok somehow?

Even those teeth remind me of Shinnok. And the shape/size of the chamber that it is being held in.

oh....my....god...

Shinnok being playable is my biggest hope for MKX. It would be shattering but think about it. "His schemes are fully realized" is enough to prettyh much solidify that his plotting against Shinnok is complete.

I mean, considering Quan Chi didn't really kill Shinnok and still ended up as top dog before Onaga and Raiden's slow cooked explosion, I would expect him to be here and be a force to be reckoned with.

Out of everybody in MK, there are only a few people I could see Quan Chi keeping the skull of.

-Shinnok
-Raiden
-Fujin
-Shao Kahn
-Lucifer

Outside chance of:
-Liu Kang
-Shang Tsung

Perhaps it's Shao Kahn's? That would be my second choice but I don't know how he would have gotten it.

I thought about Shao Kahn's helmet fitting on top of the skull that is behind Quan Chi's armor, but that wouldn't work. But Onaga's skull, on the other hand...

I think the skull on Quan Chi's chest is just a creepy trophy.

When he picks Warlock, the skull shines green AND 2 bone arms appear on his back, glowing with green light too.

It wouldn't make much sense to only use the power of something like Shinnok's skill for a moveset and even then, that power only makes him better at opening portals? I don't think so.

Kind of a shame if that is ol' blueface up in there, though I suppose with MK9 turning out the way it did, the natural course of action would have been for Quan to take down Shinnok himself.

I think that is a HUGE conclusion to draw saying it is Shinnok's Skull.

My first thought was that it was just a random skull. Intimidation factor. I mean the dude love's skulls. He makes little green ones and then crushes them in his hand.

Have to say.... I honestly forgot we were getting a character reveal today. lol Was all pumped for it yesterday and then woke up this morning completely forgetting it was happening. So when I logged on here and saw the news, I was pretty happy.

I had a feeling it wouldn't be another MK1 character, just a gut feeling. Glad my gut feelings are still pretty accurate.

As far as Quan Chi goes, I'm over the moon. Hated the character in Mythologies/4, grew to like and appreciate him in Deadly Alliance and was happy to see him around in MK9 and now here we are and he looks fucking better than ever.

The new costume (FINALLY!!!) is gorgeous as is the little details going on all over his fucking character model. (Especially love the eyes, how fucking creepy) His moveset and the design behind those (THOSE COLORS!) look amazing and had me taking my eyes off of the actual gameplay, had to watch a second time just to focus on the actual moveset. They're gorgeous! The X-Ray isn't the best we've seen, but I like where it's headed. It could always change, like with Raidens. The glimpse of the fatality....just wow. It ACTUALLY made me cringe and as a guy who watches a lot of weird, indie horror shit, THAT is saying something.

Well fucking done, NRS.

P.S. I still, for those concerned, wouldn't worry about character slots. They haven't even revealed half of the roster yet so there's no need to show off a bigger select screen as of yet. And I know people hate these terms around here, but it's always entirely possible there are characters that are "hidden" or "unlockable" in some sort of fashion aside from DLC characters. Technically, Quan Chi and Cyber Sub were represented on the list ahead of time and had slots in MK9 but maybe these slots are actually hidden this time until you unlock them?

Time will tell.

Last I checked, I'M paying for this game, along with the PS4. That's money out of my pocket so I'm entitled to "bitch" about things I may not find appealing. It's a forum page for discussion after all. So I won't just "be happy with whatever". The roster number isn't truly what bothers me, I think 24 could be a decent number but the amount of returning characters will be very small and most of them so far are of the "usual suspects" variety. Boring.

The only thing I wish for Quan Chi to have is that goddamn awesome staff he had in a concept for Deadly Alliance.

Where did that go? I want it for him so badly! He could have totally had it be used in a variation.

Grr... that was such a cool concept for him.
