Her MKD appearance is my favourite. However I think she was still fairly tanned in MK9 compared to the other females, but definitely lighter than previous incarnations.

Baraka and Shao Khan aren't white, not in race nor ethnicity. Baraka is just a tarkatan, not a white tarkatan. his race has a lighter skin tone.
A misunderstanding in semantics I suppose. But what does black means to you then, if unrelated to ethnicity and race? the characters in question are not even human and, even if literally referring to skin colour, neither Jade or Tanya were ever "black" to begin with.

When talking about fictional characters from other worlds, I am talking about their actual skin color. Like I said, I know what these things mean in our real world. My example is the same though, we all know Darrius is from Orderrealm, but his skin color is what people typically consider "Black".
And I know Baraka is a Tarkatan (another race not from Earth, but from Outworld) but his skin tone is what people typically consider "white" that's all I am trying to say, no one is implying he is the same race as a white person from Earth.
That is pretty much what I (and likely a lot of other people) are referring to when we say Jade or Tanya are "black", we don't mean they are of African descent, we mean they have dark skin.
The first time I ever saw Jade as a 6/7 child was in Mortal Kombat Trilogy (Though I eventually realized that was her in MK2) and if you look at her in that game (character select, vs screen etc.) she is pretty close to what people would consider "black" so that's what I have always referred to her has but like I said, just because I say she is black, does not mean I am implying she is an African/African American, I am well aware she is from another realm lol

Man, who dragged this back up?
Some forms the American Police fill out for arrestees doesn't have ethnicity lists, just a "Black" check box for anyone non-white.

" black" is just a colour. African-american is an ethnicity.
So Jade could be black, but not african-american 'cause she was born in Edenia.
Let's end this debate once for all.
Back on topic: I'd like to see "milk & coffee" Jade as if she'd native of arabian or south american regions of Earth.

I like top right the most because it's very close to her UMK3 color which is the color I think Jade looks best.
