Because Jade isn't dark skinned in MK9. There's a difference between being black and being dark skinned. For example, Nicki Minaj and Lupita Nyongo; both are black, but Lupita is dark skinned and Nicki Minaj isn't. Jade was dar skinned in UMK3, but light skinned in MK9.

Well, I did take all of her sprites and 3D models in Photoshop and tried to see all the colors she has had. There is a difference. But it's not that big of a difference. I'd say it was like a tone or two brighter.

But to be honest, it's really not that big of a deal, at least for me. As long as she's got dark skin, that's all that matters. If she randomly changes into an Asian, then it's something to complain about.

I prefer the darker look, but im not really too picky about it so id be fine with whatever.

The way she looked on MK9 color wise is fine just her costume should have been better that is it for me.

The whitewashing of Jade disappointed me too, but I made a mod a few weeks back to try capture that retro feel (and make P2's colours more distinct).

Her dark skin makes a nice contrast to her emerald green outfits. She usually looks stunning and stands out with tanned/darker skin. Some ethnics have that natural tan, cooper-like tone of skin, it's quite beautiful.

The only noticeably different skin tone Jade has had was her MK2 DLC. She has always had a dark skin tone, there's nothing to be splitting hairs about. Has Jax had the exact same skin tone in every game? What about Baraka? Sometimes he has spikes and wrinkles on his head, sometimes his head is smooth, sometimes his teeth are shorter or longer.

No, her DLC MK2 costume isn't the only time they white washed her. And i already said Jax didn't look as dark in MK9 as he did in previous games so i don't know why you're bringing that up again.

Thank god people here seem to agree. I was annoyed at that render they released of Jade at the beginning, like you couldn't even look at it and be like "well, I GUESS she could pass as dark-skinned...". She wasn't too bad in the actual game, but I do wish they had stuck with her UMK3 and Deception look. She was too white-washed in the render, and especially in her MK2 look.



IDK, I just feel like she look better. If she ever returns I do hope they'd give her a skin tone similar to this, I'm all for diversity in the game haha.

I still don't see what anyone is talking about. Jade has had dark skin in every game. If I knew how to post pictures, I would. She was only white in that MK9 render, but that was just a drawing, and her MK2 DLC.

And after further research, her VS screen render from MK9 is a little lighter skinned as well. So three instances where she has had lighter skin, but none of them have been in game, as in when one is playing with her.

I love Jade, but I don't really care as long as she's coloured. She was never the colour she is in that MK9 art in-game. People make a fairly big deal out of this when they really don't need to.
