Sub Zero is an old fan favourite, though nothing has been heard of the classic sub zero from MK1, though many think he's still around somewhere.
Anyhow:

Things to talk about:
MKDA appearence, like or not.
Storyline, endings, fatalities
Moves, costumes,
Return in MK6?
Movie/TV appearences (should he, by who?)

Other stuff to post:
Fake pics and anis
Genuine pics and anis
Fan fiction and fan art
Character concepts

RULES (of course):
No flaming (no matter how tempting.....)
Spoilers are allowed, so no complaining
Please stay on topic.

Okay, let's go!
STARTER QUESTION (feel free to expand and diverse): This one is about the movies: Who should play Sub Zero, and do you think he should play a leading role?

AND ANOTHER: The standard question, are you happy with his MKDA appearence? I think they could have done a tad better.

I'd like to know why he's probably the most stupid opponent when playing on Arcade? The CPU makes him suck!

To the post after the first one: Yes, that is a Lin Kuei death mark, meaning the Lin Kuei WAS after his butt, but it disbanded and Sub-Zero formed the new Lin Kuei and I'm pretty sure the clan which he leads won't be after him.

I really didn't care about his 1st costume. He looked like an old man! Plus he was a man in his 20's or 30's when we first saw him (MK2). It looks like he aged really fast in and in between games. His 2nd costume ruled! I didn't much care for his ending at first, but all the fun dialogue inspired from that ending("Darn it, I need to get her in bed before those margaritas wear off!) really made me see his ending through different eyes....

Anyway, movies. Keith Cooke did a pretty good job as Sub-Zero, but Francois Petit(Sub-Zero from MK1) was much faster. I might've had a different opinion if Keith had more screentime in MKA.

He should definetly return to MK6 and hopefully in MKDR, we should learn more about what he does through Sektor's story, and what happened to Sektor after the battle.

Just my input.

I think he is one of the greatest characters of all time and not just in MK but in all fighting games. He has been my favorite since he whooped me on the arcade machine in 93. I think he looks cool in MKDA, at first I didnt like his 1st costume but when I compared it to his MK3 costume I realized how much better it looked, his alternate costume however was one of my favorites the first time I saw it and still is. I would be devastated if he did not return in MK6 and it would make no sense not to have him in MK3 the movie.

Sub Zero looks old because the Dragon Amulet sapped some of his youth when it increased his powers. In order to wield the amulets power he had to sacrifice his youth.

I guess the amulet is too powerful for most mortals. Hence, Frost's ending.

Thanks for the info Ray. I guess most of us were right about that. And to answer some of Tim's questions, I must say that Sub-Zero's alternate costume is the best looking Sub-Zero costume and one of the best costumes in all MK games. I would like for him to return for MK6. It seems that he will be facing many challenges like Sektor, Mavado, and maybe even Frost. He has been my 2nd or 3rd favorite (Classic Sub-Zero being #1 to me smile).

For real, wow, I just thought Sub-Zero squints so much, he got wrinkles prematurely wink.

rumors were that subzero picked up the scar whilst battling scorpion in mk2. well thats rumor's for you.
I agree with those who mentioned his ninja costume looks one of the best costumes in mkda.
what can i say about this fan favourite character.
i've pretty much gotten used to Scorpion now, which now gives me time to practice with Subzero.
Shotokan is very linear, i think and a good player that knows how to use reversals can take advantage of this. but thats where dragon comes in. i found it weaker than shotokan but more sneakier. i guess dragon can be more powerful by executing a neijin.
His weapon is good but the lack of combos effectively destroys its capabilities, but then again, thats where the impale feature comes in.
MKDA rules, the game is so balanced its unbelievable!

As for Subby's future, its obvious he will return.
I just hope his brother returns as an evil character and goes after Scorpion while serving Quan chi.
Therefore good subby and scorps can team up to awaken older subbys senses.
Hey! mk is unpredictable!

OMG! It says on his profile in MK3 or some other MK story source that his scar is a Lin Kuei death mark! There's still rumors of that?

Umm... it says something like he was "marked for death by his own clan" but I'm pretty sure that 'marked' in that instance means 'targeted' rather than 'scarred'... I mean, if they had long enough to print a mark on his face, why couldnt they have just choked him dead on the spot? Anyway if I recall correctly his MK2 ending shows him unmasked with his scar.

And another question... completing UMK3/MKT with Classic SubZero reveals that he is a new warrior to appear in a fourth tournament... WHO exactly is this refering to?

I really have to agree with that thought about the scar! Honestly, the Lin Kuei probably aren't THAT honourable to tattoo his face and then say, "You've got a 10 minute head start!"

Classic Sub-Zero in MK: Trilogy, I suspect that they never really had a proper ending for him and just made any old mysterious story for him. But I'd really love it if it were actually Quan Chi in disguise doing kinda the same thing Noob Saibot was supposedly doing. He did look kinda pale in his profile pic!

As for Subby in MK:DA, I love him! It took a while for me to properly control him but I reckon I'm at that really cheesy stage where I will constantly do teh same combo after continually trying to freeze him.
Although I prefer his alternate masked costume, I still think that his normal unmasked outfit is pretty good. As for looking old, why not? It just adds character to him. Also, his 3D renderings look much more photorealistic with an overkill of detail. In the movies, make-up is used to reduce an actors' wrinkles to make them look good, in 3D animation they have to add it to make it look good.

I like second outfit but not the first, he looks too old. He is a very powerful character and has great special moves. His freeze shaker is my favorite special move in the game.

Damn, this is annoying (all the tables mixup),
Anyhow, any ideas on a movie appearence.
I did like the first actor, the second one was ok, although, strictly the first one didn't speak and they played 2 different zero's.

How come they got rid of his "Ice Rain" moves, the ones where i think it was a half circle back and punch and he's throw ice from above??

a lot of specials from the old games would look crappy in MKDA w/ its improved graphics. Thats why there's no ice rain, teleport punch(Scorpion), etc. WHy MK4 didn't have the ice rain is a whole nother question

First I didn't like his 1st costume in MK:DA but now i like it too. He's alternative costume is simply the best of all. I'm just angry that they changed his first style (Tae Kwon Do) which was in beta versions of MK:DA, to freaking Dragon style. But anyway, Sub-zero is the best character in MK, was and will be. And in the next movie JJ Perry should play him, couse in MK Conquest he was way too cool.

I think that Sub-Zero should keep Shotokan and Dragon for the next MK game, but make it enhanced and Shotokan should be a bit faster. If the older Sub-Zero were to return, he should have a form of Tae Kwon Do.

Ummm Sub-Zero is second best buddy.

Scorpion takes the cake, he harnesses much greater powers then Sub-Zero does and he has the power of Hell Fire.

He has the spear
The Ability to teleport
Breaths Hell Fire
Raises Hell Fire from the ground
Masters the greatest of martial arts
And much MUCH more

Don't get me wrong I also really like Sub-Zero but he doesn't match up to Scorpion's standards seeing as how the only power Sub-Zero has is ice and thats not good enough to make him the greatest.
