frost's infinite is d,b+3,d,f+4 over and over. Sonya has no infinite.
Just in case no one has noticed yet, d+3 with Sub Zero is the fastest move in the game. If you crouch buffer and your opponent tries to hit you with something, d+3 will always outprioritize the move. Hell fire, puke, pound, hapkido sweeps, kiss of death...all victims to d+3. I actually owned a 10 man tournament last saturday using tons of d+3 and other stuff. It's uber effective. A good thing to do is to get some space and power up and then do powered up d+3s! Sure, they dont really do that much, but it's the ultimate defensive move.
Ray's sub is decent I guess. Nothing out of the ordinary. Konqrr's sub is pretty good though. Use more Dragon: d+3!
Espionage, why do you care so much about flash? Damage is what it's about!
To this hassijin dude, lay off ray. I dont see you posting up tight combos/setups or making vids, so until you prove you know your shit i suggest not talking crap about one of the more respected players.

thanks Versatile,
I consider Sub-Zero to be one of the most challenging and fun, characters in MKDA.
I think Sub-Zero is a true test of skill because he kills you with finesse, not raw power like BRC or Scorpion.
You have to know him well and practice often.
I can tell that my play is tainted because of a lack of opponents.
I'm getting back into it,
and the bottom line is that I'm having fun playing again.
stay tuned hopefully Konqrr keeps throwing more vids up. there are at least a hundred more matches all live, unedited real gameplay.
no bullshit no excuses.
there may even be some Ray vs. MKL footage soon...

1. Thanks...I'm getting better too thanks to newfound love for the game due to my new X-Arcade stick! Shotokan d+3~bdc is what Sub is all about man, it's extremely hard for your opponent to retaliate with ranged moves if it's blocked. I usually do it then watch real close to what they do...if they attack, I will block and counter (sidestepping is not so good here due to move tracking) or switch to Dragon and d+3 them.
2. I love flash combos, it's great to know that you can land really hard combos on the fly...but in a heated match, I'd use f+2, 2,3,4 for an easy 26% with Cage than go for any 1,1,cs combo he has.

I like Damaging Combos too Versatile but I also like to do different Combos as well. Not saying that you are doing the same combo, but Sub-Zero doesn't have that many combos that kill the damage and I don't like to be pigeonholed into doing the same combo. That's why I've been offering alternatives so even though it might be flash you can do those other combos prior to doing your damaging combos in a match. Your definitely right it is the damage that counts, and when I'm playing against my brother and he's winning then I go for the most damaging combos. I just wanted to participate in the high level gameplay by revealing what I had found with the characters I play with. But Trust me I definitely love to pull of the damage.
I have posted combos here with Johnny Cage which may be flash but I have some combos that did around the 30%/31% mark and although they won't be used as much as the 9 hits 33% damage combo, My combo's could be used at the end of a battle when you know you have the match won. With Johnny Cage I wanted to offer that there are so much things to do off of the Jeet Kune Do 2,2,3,3,cs pop-up and that your not limited.
As much as damage does count the most, I like to do the unexpected and see something new, But when it counts I will go for the damage make no mistake about that.
PEACE!!!!

hell yeah! look out kids! Whatcha gonna do when MKL,Versy,Konqster,DG,Ray and the rest of the crew run wild on joo!?!?!?!?! You kids dont stand a chance. Prepare to be owned when MK6 comes out!
*COUGH*..yea
I don't like 2,2,3,3,cs,cs,f+2,2,3,4 because it has a tendacy to miss alot. Damage is important, but priority is even more important.
d+3~BDC is sick, but after a while they stop falling for it, but who cares if they stop falling for it when over half their bar is gone eh? Anyway, it's great against Sonya against her you try to be as safe as you can. Sonya vs Sub = sub's worst match up by far.
I feel like typing stuff..so im gonna.....
Kenshi is friggen cool! I dont know any good juggles with him, 2,2,2,cs,1,cs,d+1~b,d,b+1,d+3~b,d,b+1~d,b+ is cool. I respect Kenshi players alot. He's good, but really hard to play at high level.
A good Shang = a simple Shang. SpazzOut placed 2nd in this ten man tournament last saturday using straight up Shang/Quan, and his Shang is so simplistic. all Snake: low/mid mix ups and Crane: 2 abuse. Watch though with snake though. One of the reasons i beat him is because the lows in snake tend to miss sometimes, and each time it did he ate b,d+2 from me :D! Also, Spazz pointed out(even though i already knew) that Crane: 2,2,1,1,1,cs does more damage than 3,3,2,2,1,1,1,cs. Plus 2 is safer than 3,3,2(thanks for enlightening me on that one,MKL), so 3,3,2 isn't all that great.
Is it me or is f,b+1 guaranteed off of 1,1,b+1,cs with Cyrax?
Not that anyone cares.. i just wanna put up the results for this NJ tournament last saturday. 90% scrubs cept like...3 people. Winner got 100 bucks lol! The first character listed is the one the player used most.
1.Chris "Versatile" lverson - Sub Zero/Johnny Cage
2nd = Dave "Spazz" Riverra - Shang Tsung/Quan Chi
3rd = Al Valdez - Scorpion
4th = Jeff Kuzeck - Scorpion/Sub Zero/Sonya
5th = Casey Snyder - Bo Rai Cho/Kung Lao
I finally win a tournament where only 3 of the 10 people are good! yay! There was some cool stuff though. Casey pulled BRC's infinite and wowed all the scrubs, and matches between me and spazz were intense. I just wish someone had brough a friggen camera. I guess none of these dudes really go to mk5.org since no one there was talking about it. oh well, decent tournament though.
Yea..my sugar rush is gone now..so i think i'll stop typing..

that Cage combo I used is actually quite reliable versatile.
The last hits in karate track and move forward, which is why I connected with almost all of them.
the only tricky part is the sm cs from nunchuku.
I think those last three hits are 1,2,f+2?
I don't even know anymore, my combos are dialed into my reflexes. I just do combos, i barely think about them anymore.

amen to that.
havent posted in a while, nothing ground breaking to report.
the kombat goes on however, and we play for money on pay-weeks.
incedentally... anyone who may remember a post from me last nov. about a guy who swore to me he had done a stage fatlity in the ice arena... you will be happy to know that my girlfriend's brother beat him out of twenty dollars. (and i also have not stopped busting his balls since they said at fight night that he was a liar)
one of our bosses no longer gives us a
'last game' call when break is ending, because he says we are too good now and they take too long.
these are things i've found since i posted last.
-------------------------------------------------
holding up as you do strings makes them leathal.
reversals work on prety much anything that isnt in a weaponm stance. i have not been able to reverse kicks out of a weapon stance.
i even got a reversal to work on sonya's flip kick and kung lou's flying kick.
the throw is prety much a supplement to the reversal, i use it any place i would use a reversal when my opponent is in weapon stance.
works very well.
and it helps me adjust my tactics when i am not using a character with a reversal.
ive gotten to the point with shang tsung and scorpion where all 3 stances are as one, and i move easily between them, using the best stuff from each.
i also found that scorpions 4,u+4,u+4,4,u+4 juggle in hapkido does more damage than most harder combos.
gotta run,
happy easter and good kombat everyone.
p.s.
versatile, you GOTTA stop double/tripple posting.

Yea, im finally learning to press the submit button once.
So finally someone has discovered the main use of throwing besides me. About two months ago I was playing around with throws and trying to find set ups off of some when I realized that throws outpriotize almost every move in the game. This is one of the reason's why Spazz's Quan Chi is so sick. He outpriotizes you with throws and then plays a sick guessing game.
I finally acknowledged the fact that Dragon: b+4 really sucks. When universal tracking wasn't known of it was a great move, but now it just screws my game up. My bro Aikido: 2ed me right when sub zero does the auto step and i was like "wtf?". Though i won the match anyway, it's a lesson well learned.
Cyrax's wall game is pretty flashy. I really like Sambo: 1,1,b+2,f+2,cs,b+2,d+4,d+2. Yea, it's virtually useless in a real matchup, but cool.
I had zero experience against reptile at the 10 man tournament and almost lost to a Reptile player, so i decided to learn him so i'll be better prepared next time. His mix ups are off are the charts. Facing reptile is like playing the slots, you just don't know. His Hung Gar mix ups are decent, but if I guess right he eat a 30% combo. Also, in crab, abusing b+3 and mixing it up with 1,1,b+2 is friggen lethal. Not to mention 1,1,1 is crazy safe. Anyone know the strongest reptile juggle known to date not including any wall juggles or increased damage off of a weapon stance? I strongest one i know is 1,3,4,cs,1,b+2,cs>cs,1,3,4 for 40%.
I've asked this a million times and i never get a respone..do any of you guys have AOL instant messenger?I know konqrr's handle, but thats it..

it's funny, because i only noticed it like 2 mabey 3 weeks ago. common sense really, it's the way the throw always worked in MK, but we never had a reversal in the game to compare it to.
when you use the throw like this in hung gar it makes for the kind of lethality you speak of.
i have a friend who just dosn't use crab (don't know why) but he certainly holds his own without it.
only generic thing i can say about dealing with such a strategy, for me, i forget the guessing game altogether.
forget thers a change up comming, i mean don't think about blocking the NEXT hit, think about hitting them after blocking the CURRENT hit.
i find that when i am in this mindframe i am much more inclined to stomp them down, rather than get cought up in the guessing game.
there is no spoon.

Yea, against a reptile i just CB his ass and d+3 anything he does. No need to worry about a mix up when he cant use a move without getting outpriotized. Sub vs Rep is a pretty boring match for me and the reptile player normally. Its just me poking and him trying to do things that wont hit. Since reptile is so safe its impossible to do anything else but poke and f+sm when you expect him to do a move.
BTW tha reptile juggle that does 40% is actually 1,3,4,cs,1,b+2,cs>cs,1,3,2..woops. Sometimes i like to stop after the branch and switch back to crab to go back to the guessing games. b+3 = decent damage, but if they eat 1,1,b+2.
I've been playing Drahmin lately, and while i like him, It's near impossible to win against Sub Zero. Yea, think im a Sub fanboy if you want, but d+3 beats out every friggen thing..and bad. It's not like a fast character like Hsu Hao where sub zero has to d+3 almost as soon as the animation starts. Against Drahmin Sub has ample time to d+3. It's really bad. I even tried to throw and he beat that out too.
Anyone know the strongest juggle with Mokap? I use TKD: 2,2,d,f+3 for 33%, but it sort of leaves mokap in a position where he cant set anything up.

Hi my name is Mike I'm new to the site. Can I just mention that Versatile your sub zero tips are awesome.
Heres one you prob already know, but if you get a guaranteed impale eg.you block or sidestep some big move. Have this one ready in your book of tricks and you'll really hurt someone.
Impale,Freeze,CS~SM,walk to enemy & press CS on the way, 1,2,B+2,B+2,CS,1,2,U+4
(Timing isn't too hard you'll get used to it, just knock em nice and high with the B+2s to make sure the final U+4 connects)
Its a guaranteed 55%.. more if they are holding their weapon, no walls required. This takes more than half their life away and how cool did it look! + their life keeps draining away for the rest of the round! Afterwards versatiles defensive shoto d+3, combined with sensible play should see you through the round no worries.
I know I'm stating the obvious but you can also use the Dragon "U+4" as some of versatiles other sick juggles, instead of "CS" switching to Kori, it hurts almost as much.
Remember this is only going to work if someone messes up real bad, any decent player isnt just going to hand you an impale opportunity.
I use Sub as my main and Scorpion and Quan Chi as secondary players. I need some help with Quan, tips anyone? I find im pretty good at close range with his reversal, Tang Soo Do big easy combo mixups, Escrima juggels, and wepon but at long range im all out of ideas. Quans fireball is slow and i cant see that it achieves all that much anyway. His rushing jabs are easy to see coming from a distance which = opponent sidestep which = me losing 1/3 of my life as punishment. I always seem to be on the offensive which is dangerous. Help anyone? thanks.

Versatile ive been trying to work out your "Strongest Kori juggle so far...Kori: 3~b+2~b,d+2~sm~1,2,cs. 25% baby." but i cant land it..
did u mean "3~CS~b+2~b,d+2~cs~sm~1,2,cs" thats the only way i can make scense of it and i still cant even land that.. please clarify.
Ive been working on some KORI Blade juggels of my own i think ive got a few good ones, all do 21%+, ok here goes:
3~b,d+2~cs~cs~sm,1,2,cs (24% nice and easy!!)
3~cs~cs~d+2,1,2,cs (21% practice the timing of the dragon upercut, its not too hard after a few goes)
3~b,d+2,cs~cs~sm~cs,1,b+1 (21% looks trendy hacking away with that powered up sword)
Thats it, thanks.
Id love to know that 25% one man, im probly just stuffin up the timing or somthin. Cheers.

Two more things:
Firstly a little more insight into my kori juggles. I don't use three kori juggles just cause they look cool, for me they each have a purpose.
3~b,d+2~cs~cs~sm,1,2,cs (is the one I use almost every time, it causes the most damage, nuff' said)
3~cs~cs~d+2,1,2,cs (I use this if I have just recently used my powerup and it hasn't recharged yet, i think its the strongest kori juggle without a powerup, but correct me if im wrong)
3~b,d+2,cs~cs~sm~cs,1,b+1 (now no one is perfect, and although the advanced player shouldn't have this prob, everyone makes mistakes.. if in the 1st 24% juggle you react to late with the freeze and you freeze them too low, most or all of the following hits will miss [wasting damage & it looks embarresing too]. doing 1, b+1 is a nice way to still do damage and cover up this mistake.
The 2nd thing is:
I have the PAL version of the game. Is it just me or is the AI cheap in max level, I mean the Kori mixups work well but dragon 1,2,4/1,1,2 mixup the computer guesses right like 85% of the time, same with dragon 1,2,4/1,2,CS and any shoto brach leading into this (its either cheap or cause the 4 comes out slow, the comp actually is that quick and reacts accordingly, could a human ever react this quick?? or is this cheap AI?)

Damm.. sorry guys, my first post about the 55% impale thing is BS. I just realised that a human opponent can block while they are staggering back. The AI dosent always block straight after the weapon goes in and all the hits still count as one combo.
Its still handy to know how to use "U+4" instead of "CS" for your combos for the purposes of staying in dragon or if you've impaled your opponent earlier.

Ok here's the deal. A friend of mine is throwing a tourney in orlando, and he's thinking of thrpwing MKDA in the mix. I just wanna know who will be willing to come if there is one. So far, a few people they would show. MKDA needs a competetive tourney BAD. And I'm 99.9% sure that it's gonna happen. Anyway, reply to this post and let me know if you're gonna go and help me out anyway you can. Thanks. Isaac
there should be a prize of some sort
with rules, ban infinites
Get in touch with someone at Midway if this is going to be a big deal.
perhaps they could lend some prize support
If you are serious, start a thread and try to get responses...you can gauge your attendence partially on that I'm sure.
If you charge ten dollars to enter and 50 people enter, that's five hundred you can split with the finalists
first place 300
second 150
third 50 etc
not to mention, any kind of sponsorship you can obtain...if you promote properly
why don't you get in touch with igames.org?
They started doing Tao Feng tournaments if you can believe that...

"Hi my name is Mike I'm new to the site. Can I just mention that Versatile your sub zero tips are awesome."
Thanks man. I try to put some sub stuff up whenever I can. We welcome you this thread and most importantly the site. Hope you like it here.
"Heres one you prob already know, but if you get a guaranteed impale eg.you block or sidestep some big move. Have this one ready in your book of tricks and you'll really hurt someone."
Impale sucks dude. Don't use it. There are those times when you know it will hit, but thats the only rational time.
"Impale,Freeze,CS~SM,walk to enemy & press CS on the way, 1,2,B+2,B+2,CS,1,2,U+4
(Timing isn't too hard you'll get used to it, just knock em nice and high with the B+2s to make sure the final U+4 connects)"
Don't depend on impale combos. Not only could the opponent block the freeze(the animation makes the opponent seem defenseless, but he can block anythign you do), but he could also avoid the impale period and punish you severely.
"Its a guaranteed 55%.. more if they are holding their weapon, no walls required. This takes more than half their life away and how cool did it look! + their life keeps draining away for the rest of the round! Afterwards versatiles defensive shoto d+3, combined with sensible play should see you through the round no worries."
This is a great idea and all, but it just won't work in a serious match up. Very creative though.
"I know I'm stating the obvious but you can also use the Dragon "U+4" as some of versatiles other sick juggles, instead of "CS" switching to Kori, it hurts almost as much."
Yes, I find myself ending juggle with u+4 more often now. Not just for flash, but for strategy purposes. I find it much easier to keep my flow going when i end with u+4 than to use the CS.
"Remember this is only going to work if someone messes up real bad, any decent player isnt just going to hand you an impale opportunity."
hehe..yep.
"I use Sub as my main and Scorpion and Quan Chi as secondary players. Help anyone? thanks."
Quan's 50/50 game is sort of wakced out. If they guess right quan is in for a world of pain. i mainly just try to reverse and 1,1,2,cs,4,cs as much as possible. Also, dont forget that you cant use 1,1,2,cs,4,cs off of a kick reversal. Instead, use b,d+4,cs,b+1,4,4,cs or something else snazzy.
