Thanks for clearing up that question up for me MKL. If you are done with posting advice well that's ashame. But if you aren't could you post some more Sonya strategies which would help my game, this would be against a Scorpion or Bo Rai Cho since you've already posted one for Reptile.

Also would you ever post some of your matches on this site as I only really saw the Drahmin vs Shang Tsung match at the TiT5 and am intrested to see more?

Sonya VS Bo:

well this match doesnt even happen..........Sonya gets killed badly. first of all to be able to bat Bo u need to ba able to do 3 things 1...cross safely/punish the puke, 2...be able to punish 3,2
and 3...be able to make Bo chace u and use the clock in your favor so that he will need to leave drunken fist in order to catch u. Sonya cant do any of thoe things. heres y.

1...cross safely/punish the puke:
the only way she can do this is by using the flying kick or the roll(TKD d+3) now the flying kick sucks cuz most of the time Bo can either block it in time or even if it hits u still land on the puke. now for the roll to work it must hit Bo and not be blocked. if it hits Bo then it pushes him back and u move forwaed past the puke. ohh just to mention that even if the flying kick or the roll gets blocked and by some chance u dont slip on the puke Bo can still punish u with the infinite so u still lose. ohh and 1 more thing, even if u get in on the puke Bo kills ALL characters in close when he is in drunken. all she has that is useful and safe is TKD 3 and thats only safe from the right range so if Bo blocks 1 mixup attempt u lose cuz u r getting hit with the infinite.

2. Be able to punish 3,2:
simple, sonya has no moves to punish 3,2. this move out ranges her, does 18% when it hits, and beats every move she has.

3. Be able to make Bo chace u and use the clock in your favor so that he will need to leave drunken fist in order to catch u:
OK, people always ask me "but y does sonya have to get in? she can just get up on life and run" that is wrong. Bo has a puke that once it comes out she cant do anything about it and he has a life up so even when u r up u still must stay close.

So in short Sonya cant run, she cant win when in close, she cant stop Bo from doing a life up, and she cant have 1 mix up attempt blocked, ohh and even if u trade the kiss for the puke Bo still recovers intime to infinite u so thats out too. If i were to fight this match i would fight just out side of puke range and try to time the roll when i see the puke to roll through it and hit Bo then i would pray that he doesnt block my next move(s).




Sonya VS Scorpion:

this match is also bad but not as bad as vs Bo because at least now if u get blocked scorpion could possibly mix u up for infinity but its not guarenteed like with Bo. Scorpion can make any character feel helpless(except reptile). u cant rush him down, and when u try to run he just hunts u down. Pi Gua 3 will beat all of sonyas moves EVERY LAST 1. when he rushes u down if u even think about hitting a button just remember that Pi Gua 3 will hit it and when u say ok, i'll block 3 then u eat 4 instead. after 3 hits then if u dont techroll then he hellfires u and then goes into a damaging mixup if u do techroll then he walks in as u roll and follows up with a damaging mixup as well, and if u try to block the mixup he always has the option to hellfire u when u block then go into a damaging mixup. dont try to zone scorpion with the kiss cuz u will need to do it from the magic distance which is hard to get. u cant do it too close cuz then he can punish it but u cant let it wiff, not even barely, because then he just hellfires u from anywhere on the screen and if hes close enough he can follow up with a damaging mixup. dont get caught in the corner cuz then u must deal with the corner trap. once u get caught in the corner vs scorpion its over.

so in short, u cant really get in on Pi Gua 3 at all and when u start blocking high then he hits u with 4, u cant run cuz he just rushes u down with it and if u try to use the kiss to zone him u eat a hellfire and by trying to space u may get caught in the corner. if i were to play this match i would try to get in on the forterss(Pi Gua 3) and then mix him up with TKD b+3 or 3 when either of them hit then i would mix up with either b+4,cs or 3 again. i would only use 3, b+3, and b+4,cs. getting in and placing these moves properly is the key to attempting to win this match.

Well i'll be damned, i'm sure like many people their beginning to hate this tier thing. Let's hope in the next installment they balance out the characters a bit more. Well it is what it is I suppose.

Thanks MKL for the information you gave me. I'll guess i'll have to stick to mid-tier matches because those matches made Sonya sound relatively useless. Out of the matches from the TiT5 I liked the Shang vs Kung Lao and the Drahmin vs Shang Tsung.

Cause if it its like that, i have to agree and dissagree on your Scorpion/Bo VS Sonya. Its actually easy to bit Bo in close stand with kenpo (at least for me) and then use TKD. Scorpion is easier, but I rather fight him at distance to then use Kenpo and TKD flip-up attacks.

Well, dont want to start any fight stuff, so Ill leave it there. I say I can, for I have played many challenging people here, and U say its not possible, because....Anyway, U should help the Blaze_Rocks dude, hes been asking for some Blaze combos and infinities.

A little more specific, could you give good tips on mixups. meaning switching between high and low attacks to confuse the enemy. blaze doesnt have many good low moves. in hapkido there is tx,ax and do. ill experiment later, but if you know anything it will help!

the best advice i can give u is to stop playing blaze because he isnt that good. he has the same hapkido stuff that scorpion has minus the hellfire so blaze's hapkido isnt that good, he's got the same stuff as cage in JKD minus the damage after the CS, and hes got the same stuff kano had in xing yi minus the power up follow up. so in short, when it comes to blaze, what u see is what u get.

I think you need to realize that not everyone takes this game in the same manner as you, MKL. You trying to help out people with the game is a very nice gesture, but telling them to stop playing characters just cause they're not that good doesn't help anyone.

I'm not going to say that anything you've said is wrong by any means, but both you and I want the same thing... a challange! Just from oue AIM discussion (besides talking about ray) I can understand why you're as into this game as you are and why you respond to some people here in the manner that you do.

Basically what I'm getting at is, instead of following tiers and telling who beats who and why, share some strategy for all characters. Sure there are the top guys with the best assortment of moves and what not, but If you put enough time into a fighter and know how to properly defend yourself against your opponent you can successfully defeat them.

Not everyone is going to play in a tournament for this game, but MK6 will be online so try and help others now so in the future they will have a better understanding how to fight in this game and enjoy it as much as we do... And put up a decent fight!

i only told him the truth about blaze. he wants setups, mix ups, infinites, damaging combos, etc and blaze falls short of all those things. so i was simply telling him that if thats what he wants in a character then blaze isnt the character that he should be playing. as i said in my last post, blaze in a crappy version of scorpion, cage , and kano.

While beating up on my friends i noticed a scorpion infinate. BTW All the Frost infinate DOES WORK... ask my friends, it pisses them off. anyway with scorpion use his ninja sword, do the spear, then do the Atk4 + Atk1 + Atk1 + Atk3, combo, repeat and this will kill moloch in about 4 combos without losing strength as an infinate. If ne1 dosent believe me, try it in practise, then in a vs. match, then against moloch. it works. that is why, i think, scorpion is #1 in the teir.
