Really, I play T4 as well. And since I too am going to EVO, maybe we can get down in some MK5 as well. Bryan is my character in T4. I wish MK5 was on the list of games at EVO. But anyway, I play on XBOX version. I've played all other versions, and I must say, I hate the Gamecube version the most. I found it difficult to execute moves and fatalities. Playstaion is good. XBOX IS BEST!! But anyway, NEO, can't wait to play ya at EVO. I KNOW A SHIT LOAD OF PEOPLE, so don't be surprised if I jump from playing you to doing something else. I know a lot of people bro. I used to live in Cali. But I can't wait.

Matter a Fact, why doesn't someone start a thread for all the people going to Evolution to have like an MK5 gathering there. That'd be hella cool.

Quan Chi is one of my favorite characters in the game, and although I realize he isn't ranked very high on your tier list, I was wondering if you could give me any general strategies for him. For example, what combos of his work the best in what situations, does he have any decent high-low mixups, when's the best time to use neijin, etc?

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

well quan chi's best combo is his branch from TSD. in TSD poke with the jabs(1 and 1,1) and d+4. Quan Chi can use a 2 jab poke because even though every branch can be puinished after the 2nd jab quan chi's 1,1,1 cannot be interrupted at all so if they try to interrupt then they get jabbed in the mouth. 1,1,1 is only punishable after the 3rd jab is blocked, use this to your advantage because now u can poke with 2 jabs giving u a better chance of finishing the branch when u see the jabs connect. now as far as d+4 goes while it does little damage its a setup for the branch. use d+4, the idea here is u want them to low block. mix up the d+4 and a 1,1, poke. if they try to low block then u can jab them and go into the branch. make sure u hold up when u jab so the jab tracks because u can ss or low block to avoid the d+4. by holding up even if they try to ss to avoid the d+4 the branch will still hit. now the best way for people to escape this trap is not to low block or ss but to BD out of the trap. when people start doing this use more then 1 or 2 d+4's. throw a few more, remember the idea is to force them to low block. see they can BD if u branch after a d+4 or pause in between the d+4's however if u use a series of d+4's quickly then the only way to stop being hit by it is to either low block or ss. the key here is to know when to d+4, when to jab, when to jab after a d+4, and when to do a series of d+4's then jab and that comes by practice and a lot of vs play. broad swords is also a great stance. good pokes that r safe r 1(if u Bd after it),d+2 and d+3(both must be spaced right to be safe). d+4 is good also but its not safe and it must be done close to them. now onto 3 and 4. first i want to say plese dont make the mistake and try to use 3 and mix up with 3,4 because its interruptable after 3 so there is no mix up there. 3 is the best move in this stance when used right. space yourself correctly when u do it and they cant punish it. when they block it Bd and keep your space. when it hits then finish the combo with off with 4. if they begin to get too close use d+2 or d+3 or 1(remember to bd after this move) to slow them down. using 3 correctly will really give people problems. as far as escrima goes...........this stance sucks, its only good for the power up. i use the power up whenever i am a decent distance from my opponant or if i ss a projectile when i am 1/4 screen away or farther.

in short, use the jabs and the d+4 trap in TSD and remember that he has a reversal in TSD but only use it occasionally. in Broad swords space yourself correctly and use 3,d+2/d+3, and 1(bd)also after u branch them u end up in broad swords. your opponant cant tech after hes been hit by the branch so u r left with 2 options. option #1 is after the branch, switch into TSD and pressure with the jabs(jab game that i posted somewehere in this thread) or go into the d+4 trap. option #2 is to remain in broad swords and space yourself and chop them down with well placed 3's and d+2's/d+3's, or 1(bd). Quan Chi is a VERY good character.

While Escrima sucks don't forget f+4. It stuns them long enough for you to switch to BS and mix up. However this kinda ruins your flow and spacing, which is what Quan is all about..anyway.

Hey MKL, u goin to Evolution?

How about Rayden? Are there any intresting combos you can do with him? Infinites or big juggles?

I mostly play with Rayden, and finished the game 42 times only with Rayden. Tried many combos, but never got something suprising like you get with other characters, like infinites or crazy juggles, its not even possible to juggle with him, not much.

i found a juggle w/ raiden. its not great b/c the opponent can block or roll in certain places, but u can try to make it work. i have ps2 so youll have to convert the buttons to what ever system you have.

square square triangle away square
sparky (check moves list) can be blocked
r1 opponent can roll away
x opponent can roll away
circle circle away triangle

20 hits 52% damage


but for that much damage its worth trying

anytime you do sparky you should wait a second for the opponent to roll, press x and add circle circle away triangle.

towards towards square
lightning bolt (i forget the buttons right now)
towards triangle
towards towards circle

adding any of the above will do 20% damage. However, by using towards towards circle you will be close enought to attack again after the combo is finished. I havent experimented w/ this but if you find something tell me.

No, it's just you come off as an arrogant asshole. As if everyone is supposed to follow everything you say and if they don't they are idiots. I got a couple serious questions though. You mentioned in another thread the "list" of "top MK players" in the world. You said you were best at MKDA and mentioned other people for the past games. Then just recently you said you won all the world tournaments in California years ago. What gives? Not to mention you would of been what, 14 when you won the MK2 world tournament? Don't you live on the east coast and the tournament was in Cali? How exactly did you manage to pull that off? I wanna believe you but I'm confused.

Secondly, let me reiterate what I said previously. There really aren't crews in this community. There are just good-great players and scrubby ones. I'm not trying to offend anyone, but there are far more scrubs here than good players just because they are not willing to see things that are obvious. Foolishness such as saying the game is balanced and other nonsense holds the community as a whole down.

I'm not trying to speak for everyone, but I don't like to argue. I'd much rather just talk strats about a game I enjoy playing with you all, but when you see idiotic things such as "oh the game is balanced" without any strategies are reasons as to why that person thinks so just makes players who actually know what they're talking about want to flame them.

You say bill is being an arrogant fuck, but I really can't blame the guy. You seem to live in this fantasy land where MK is a balanced series, and it is not. I will give a string of examples, and unless you can give me GOOD strategies that some how contradict what I am saying I think you should shut the fuck up and never post such garbage again.

Bo Rai Cho vs Kitana - Ok, Kitana has no chance here. Kitana cannot punish 3,2 so this means Bo can simply get in kitana face and REPEATEDLY 3,2 without having to worry about taking any damage but block damage. Any screw up Kitana makes leads straight into the infinite. Balanced? No, this is a slaughter.

Reptile vs Cyax - Now let's get fucking real. This match doesn't even happen. Cyrax has absolutely no answer to crab rush. The ONLY possible small chance cyrax has of winning this fight(which has a 1/10) chance of happening is if he can lock Reptile down at mid range. Reptile isn't too good at mid range so Cyrax can turtle the clock away, but this will never happen, for all Reptile needs to do is connect with one f+4 in hung gar and Crab rush is initated. From this point on you can't win. Reptile can deal out too much damage at too fast of a pace for cyrax to compete. Balance? I think not.

Scorpion vs Sub-Zero - Sub gets killed. Yeah, it's not as bad as the matches above, but Sub has an EXTREMELY(near impossible) chance of winning this one. Sub gets out priortized, out powered, out everything in this match. The ONLY way Sub can win is to hit the ice shaker early and land the 41% juggle then turtle till the clock runs out, but even then turtling vs scorpion is like having a 69 with a midget, technically you can do it, but it's not very possible.

Those are just a few examples, but they are MANY more. Anyway, id like to see what you have to say about those matches, and dont give me that "block and combo" bull, for if you do it really proves my point..that you're a scrub and you know nothing. I wasn't gonna enter this convo, but I can do all of what you said. Beat very skilled Bo rai chos with Kitana, win with cyrax against rep,ect. I'm not talking about computer, I mean people who are actually very skilled at the game that have these same exact conversations, these are the same people I play against. I beat them because I was very good at dodging, sidesteping, and countering. My personal belief on this is that the game is balanced to a point. Characters do have their weaknesses but IT IS possible to go around their henderences. Such as reptile vs. cyrax. if you can time the "quick" sidestep(what I call the quicker of the 2 sidesteps since I don't know the actual name of that sidestep) during his crap rush you will dodge and be to the side of him. you will have a moment of oppurtunity and strike. I know this is possible because I have a friend that has that same theory on reptile vs. cyrax. As far as this unbalanced thing, I'll admit scorpion is my favorite and best character but I think it depends upon the skill of the player also. I not trying to gloat either or make it sound like I'm the best player ever.

Zsnes/Mame whatever. The fact of the matter is that I dont have ZSNES or Mame, nor do I feel like downloading it to play you in the old mks. I don't know if I could beat you or not, and to be quiet frank I don't care. I grew up as a scrub in MK till DA, so it makes no difference to me whether i'd win in those games or not. It's rather apparent,however, that you can't beat me in MKDA. So here's what you did. You totally neglected me asking you for strats and everything else i said because you can't post strats. You know nothing about DA. This is no shocker to anyone. You haven't contributed to the board in any way. No strats,no videos, just bitching and complaining about how others are. Well, I would personally like to here some strategies, but I don't think that will be happening will it? Of course not, for I repeat, you are a scrub.
