No. Not a joke at all. Unless they would be pulling one over me.
I also got an Out of Office Reply, that I did not add here, that said to call his cell phone number with the number listed. No way I would post that.

Here is the emails. Took out the emails and phone numbers.

No problem. We know we are looking deep. But this was all we ever had to
go
on.
It is part of a transcript from Fight Night Sec 14th, 2002 on IRC. So it
was
awhile go.

[22:39] brinky asks: 'can you give us some hints on how
to
unlock the secret that no one has found yet??'
[22:39] Swamp lands were a background that tony did...
[22:39] it's in the GBA at this point
[22:39] Yes, its in the GBA version.
[22:39] Keep trying all sorts of places for button
combos.....

Full text is here:

Then there was this on April 4th, 2003.

Ed Boon on the Version Code
Posted at 9:18 AM EST by DArqueBishop

With all the controversy and speculation concerning the existence of a
version code and a final secret, we contacted Ed Boon, co-creator of
Mortal
Kombat and lead programmer for Mortal Kombat:Deadly Alliance, to see if
he
could shed any light on the situation. His answer:
"The version code in MKDA IS in there. I was not the programmer who put
it
in and I am sure that it was never intended to be discovered. Off the
top of
my head I don't think I can remember what the code is..."
So, at this time, the existence of the version code can be confirmed.
However, Ed's answer indicates that this may or may not be the final
secret
mentioned during the Fight Night chat. At this point, we'll leave it for
the
fans to decide.

Our thanks to Ed Boon for taking the time out from his busy schedule to
provide an answer for us!

Thanks again,
Chris

Something left to be found. It was mentioned that "button combinations"
would find it. since then, nothing has been found or hinted at. It's
driving people crazy and are about to give it thinking they were lied to

just play the game more.

Wedge...let us know if you hear anything else. I am beginning to give up the search for a final secret. Sadly this secret seems that is unreachable without the help from the MK team. I am out of ideas. They may have lied to us all. sad

The statement "Keep trying all sorts of places for button combos..... " could have been made sarcastically, and not intentonally. So they could have been joking about that. Why are they reluctant to give out this 'secret' anyway? It's been nearly 2 years. Come on............
Wedgegold good luck. I hope you come up with something.

I don't think there is any kind of super secret code. Everyone is expecting this code to be super cool and to reveal or show something so cool. What do you really expect the code to be? And what is a version code? No one has seemed to answer that. I mean there is the NTSC version released in USA and PAL in Europe. thats the only thing that is version related that i know about.

Truthfully, I never heard of a version code until MKDA. So I have no idea what it may be or what it does. The team lead us to look for some sort of code in the coupons. I have always interpreted that to mean the purchased items from the krypt or the krypt itself. However, they have held on to this secret too long for me to continue to believe it really does exist anymore.

some people have said that if u go to the krypt at exactly 12:43 u would get new koffins some broken thats what i heard from a web page. i think this works cause i unlocked every koffin in the krypt and i went to go check out those thing extras koncept art stuff and i was still missing some stuff in extras i was missing 3 thing and in koncept art was 7 or 8 and when i went back to the krypt i checked and i wasnt missing anything so i thing that might be the final secret.

give it a try you never know

That 12:43 thing was bullshit. And they did'nt say to try out button combos in the stages, they said to try button combos everywhere.
BUT, it is true that even if you unlock everything, there are still empty slots in the bonus sections. However i think that is just because the game was'nt completly finished.

GOD DAMMIT, when do we ever get to know what this freaking secret is?!

It was mentioned that the 12:43 thing was the time the artist (who did all the art renders) finished everything. So the 12:43 thing stands for nothing.
As for the extra slots, they just made that many, so that for some sections with plenty of stuff they get filled up, and for other not so many stuff it doesn't get filled up. They just made that many slots per page for convenience sake.
I wish the final secret was the right hallway in the main menu. I don't believe it wasn't finished. No game programmer would leave something that obvious 'uncovered' if it weren't finished.
If the right hallway really wasn't finished in time, they would have redesigned the whole menu page and covered up the 'right hallway' so that it would seem that there was no such thing.
Leaving it like that and unaccessible would make it look unprofessional....unless it was left like that for a reason!

This maybe sounds weird but, why they dont want to tell what the secret is ?
Or are they just screwing around ?
Because i think it kinda lame if they see how much we want to know what it is. But they are jsut ignoring us. I think its not a good way of having your fans so irritated because they are trying everything but dont get a single fucking hint.

After this long, i think it's just best to accept the fact that there isn't anything else. The only reason they have empty slots is because all the bonus section pages were designed the same way regardless of the fact there were enough things to fill it up or not. I mean what do you want the final secret to be? A new character that just has moves copied from other characters with no fatality like blaze and mokap? or maybe not even having an ending like noob in MK4? Or a new stage that really doesn't have anything special about it except some new scenery to look at? The only close thing your going to get to new characters and arena's is in the gba versions of it. Even if there is a "final secret" i guarantee that it won't be anything that it's hyped up to be. It will most likely be a let down.
And i think one of the people said that it wasn't completely finished since they wanted to add an extra menu down the right hall. Games aren't made like they used to be in the late 80's early 90's where you have limited graphics and only a couple people working on it. Now there are budgets and release dates for games and dozens of people working on it. I read somewhere a long time ago that the reason they made UMK3 was because that was that was meant to be the true version of MK3 but they were running out of time and the game had to be released.

I was just thinkins about ~Crow~'s theories.

For #1, maybe you have to be fighting yourself. In MK 1, you fought yourself last, and that was the hardest, single, playable character.

So maybe fighting against youself as Raiden, Quan Chi, or Shang in the Portal areana, and then adding some button combo (double flawless fatatlity?????) leads you to some secret character.

and for #2

has anybody tried jsut leaving the game sit a screen for a while. maybe "Time will lead to Noob Saibot" means to jsut wait for a hell of long time.

The developers confirmed that there is no way to get down the right hallway because they ran out of time. I believe they did say however, that it was going to be some cheat menu or something like that.

If that is the case, they must have done SOME work on that. So maybe one or two of those cheats were programmed, but since they didn't get a chance to finish any more cheats, there was no sense in finishing a right hallway and cheat menu just to access those couple of cheats.

So, it's possible that the one or two cheats that they DID get to program were changed to button combinations.

I wouldn't doubt the final secret is some NBA-Jam type of cheat by pressing buttons on the loading screen to get Big Head mode or something like that.

What the F... are they waiting on?!!! Just tell us if there is anything else or not!!! If not, then great, we are done with the game. Case closed!! If yes, then give us a dang hint that will really help us. I don't think that's too much to ask for after two years of hard playing/searching!!!! I mean really, it's a joke now. To hold out this long on your fans, it better be worth it, if it's even real. What really kills me, is that there are people that visit this site that know the truth. They know how badly we are trying and don't even help. I suspect some might even have lead us on wild goose chases in these forums. Giving us crap!! The MK team is just laughing at us last few fans that have been holding out for the secret. furious

This 12:43 thing is nothing. And just because someone said that they think they heard something whisper "time will lead you to noob saibot" is just shitting you. The mind tries to make sense out of the sounds it hears. So when someone whispers something they try to understand what it is in relation to what they are doing. So this noob thing is just crap. There is no stage fatality, there is no secret to the portal where you fight raiden or quan whom you can fight already. THERE IS NO SECRET.
