It would be cool if Sonya maybe had another move with her Rings but in a kick form or something where she kicks you but you see her Ring magic spore around her kick or something.

Who knows lol, they could do pretty much a lot of things when it comes to new moves.

I believe they can bring back her leg grab.

Yeah, I really hope they explore the possibilities and use all of their creativity to give the characters at least 2 new special moves that work and look awesome.

And please, none of this copy/paste crap.



Considering it should had never been taken away from her in MKDA, despite them saying that most characters would loose special moves because of the styles, it must be back.

Sonya is my favorite character in the MK series. I was SO happy to see her in the leaked pics. She's mainly the reason why I play the games, I'm just kinda fascinated by her.

Sonya needs to have her leg grab. I don't care about anything else, just give her the god damned leg grab please. I'll be happy either way, since at least she's in the game. But still...LEG GRAB!

I've also figured that if she gets her character development nicely done, she could be greatly featured in a possible comic book series of the game, seeing how they've always portrayed her accurately.

Well, I figured that after so much bitching, praying and complaining, etc., it was a must and about time to give them a big thank you and hugs for giving Sonya Blade all her fantastic trademark special moves...ALL of them!

They truly heard the fans and Ed honored his word.

The special moves truly look amazing, Sonya and Catwoman were the two characters that surprised me the most in the newest video, both rocked!

I cant wait to play with them and specially Sonya, Im dying to try the Leg Grab and the rest of the signature moves she has back.



LOL , well, since Leo and Deathbearer already replied to that, I'll just be happy to say that I like Catwoman, and as we have seen in the vids, she really is going to kick as*. I really like the way they've made her fight in this game, looks very fast and wicked!

Sonya's my favorite female character in MK since the beginning(then Sindel, Jade, and newcomer, Sareena). So anytime she looks and performs good it's deserving of some sort of "pat on the back".

To Ed and team, I know I do my share of harping on things. But at the same time, I am not reserved about giving credit where & when it's due. With that said:

Thank You for Sonya. She has been done justice through the eyes of the fans this time. That's the kind of up-grade // change we've been asking for. She looks like a woman-soldier. She looks more serious. She looks.....

She looks like she just got off duty, took off the more formal over-shirt and that green T-shirt officers wear, and got into a fight. lol THAT's what she looks like.

Doesn't look like she has those stupid juggly boobs either, so that's something to mention as well. Thanks for dodging that bullet.

If we are able to alter her outfit in-game, all I'd do in the options, is give her a tank-top(tucked in) instead of the half shirt, take the gloves off, and replace them with a watch on one of her wrist. I'd take the beret off, or swap it for the ball cap, or the cap below that GI Jane is wearing if it's available too. But that's it. *blam* done.

A little "sexier" than Demi Moore in that picture, but not too far removed. With the ponytail and the bangs like you guys have her already. "Off-Duty, Video Game Female Officer".

Initial discussions about Sonya before this game started leaking info, I wanted a "harder soldier" Sonya (I'll say it a million times: GI Jane primary // Million Dollar Baby alt = Sonya iMo). This version of her helps realize that potential, and is absoluetly an exceptable gesture that even agrees with my request. Even if the alterations to her weren't geared towards anything I said in particular, it agrees with the overall scheme of things.

Anyway yea, thank you for the way she looks, AND for getting all her stuff back in there. She's good now.

She looks good man. When I was taking the screens, the way she is right now grew on me even more. I still like the MKSM version a little better than this one, but overall we couldn't have gotten a closer medium for what you hard core Sonya fans wanted, and the small differences I would have liked to see as a passive Sonya fan.

I think the gloves and the beret are a little bit excessively designed, but the way she looks moving around kinda makes up for it.

They did a good job with here this time man. Grats.

I like how the color of her rings and smoke is now purpleish instead of pink. Looks better this way.

And it does make you wonder....why didn’t they do this in the first place? Its not like it was that hard to give her back this trademarks for MKA, and again, they shouldn’t had taken them away to begin with. Sure she was a powerful character in MKDA that needed to be toned down, but still, balancing her strength in specials would had worked just fine.

And Im also rooting for the mega witch of the game, I hope Sindel makes it as well. I love Jade, but sadly, I don’t think she’s going to make it. Sareena is cool as well.

The majority of the fans love the new style and look. They really did an excellent job mixing awesome classic elements into her and making her feel completely new at the same time.

While I do like the idea and get what you are saying, I don’t think that’s an alternate that could work because it does feel kind of plain. I like the tank-top tucked in bit, but I personally would prefer to see a more futuristic approach to her character. Sonya doesn’t need to revolve around the “military theme” when it comes to giving her outfits.

Since they did an excellent job approaching the realistic feel of a woman-soldier for her, I would say spice things up with her alternate. Make something new that doesn’t necessarily need to be real. Say, give her one long sleeve to cover one arm and not the other, but make the other have a long glove and cool stripes around her. Or have her using some pants that only cover one of her legs entirely, while the other leg remains slightly covered with a small short, also surrounded by straps if it doesn’t look like its too much.

Just 2 quick examples.

The many bands/stripes they gave her for this game and the awesome gloves add to that sort of cool “futuristic” look Im talking about. It doesn’t really need to be 90% realistic imo.

It would had been a blasphemy not to give her all her trademark special moves. I mean, after soooooo much bitching and complaining, Im sure Ed and the Team wouldn’t dare to think about the tortures they would had suffered.

Im kind of wondering if its for this very reason they decided not to give Sonya her classic specials in MKA...maybe they wanted to cause a huge and pleasant surprise with MK vs DC...and they did managed to do that.

And its funny because I had been talking with QueenSindel(TheBitch) about Sonya having some bang-like hair similar to the ones of Lara Croft, and they actually did give her something of the like. Looks sexy!

As for the gloves, Im in love with their design! I think they are one of the best new elements they gave her! They look futuristic, kind of suiting with the “magic of MK” if you get what I mean.



Rayden is a must for this game.

Its just not Mk without him, and after his overall excellent improvement, I cant see why they wouldn’t put him in the game. He is super iconic after all.

And you are correct, her moves look amazing. I found it quite funny to see them all confirmed in that video. They gave her exactly the moves I listed as a must for her. While I love the Square Wave Pucnh, it would still be better to see her with a new special move for a change (preferably acrobatic attacks), and as for her 6th move, I hope its an improved version of her MK4 cartwheel kicks. That one rocked.

Or they could maybe work a bit with more energy-like magical specials, but I do want to see a form of new acrobatic attack for Ms. Blade.....I really hope they don’t make the same mistake they did when giving her that awful throw she had in MKA, that kind of thing didn’t suit her at ALL!

Best thing is everyone is very very pleased. The majority of the fans have fallen in love all over again, and with good reasons too.

And hey, Im still thinking they did this on purpose, not give her the signature moves in MKA I mean. It kind of feels like they thought about giving the fans a cool surprise for this game. Like, they preferred to have her return here with the whole package instead of doing that in MKA...*angry face here*.

Considering many characters got more new moves and classic moves back in MKA, this is unforgivable, but they are finally redeeming from their huge horrible and insulting mistakes. ^_^

Me too! And I really like the “special effects” they gave the rings. They look superb. I love the “whirlwind-like” effect they have when being thrown and when they clash.

How did you feel about the Leg grab? I was super excited when I found out it was back. I was reading on the forums the posts people were making as they watched the show, because I couldn’t had watch it from here, and when they started mentioning with excitement her special moves I went crazy!

First move people confirmed for her were the Energy Rings, then they mentioned the Vertical Bicycle kicks, then they mentioned the kiss, and finally, FINALLY the Leg grab appeared and they posted it on the thread.

Yeah lol I knew once they said that every character would have 6 specials I knew immediately that everyone would have their "key" moves back, Sonya I had a strong feeling would have her old moves back, so now the ridiculous "death threats" etc which I doubt was ever true anyway lol......but the bitching can stop I'm sure now.

You know, maybe this is a sign.... maybe there is a reason why Sindel, Jade, and all of my favorite didn't make it into this game, it's because fate wanted me to be reunited with my original favorite character before Sindel came around, Sonya!

Yeah, definitely, I'm gonna come back to Sonya, i haven't played with her in several years, I suppose it's time to be reunited with my original character.

I guess Sonya it is. I just hope Poison ivy makes it around as well.

Sonya's a true G for life tho, I just never liked her after MK4, they kinda messed her up, I liked her primary outfit tho, but that's it.

Sonya (current form) is really all I need to make this game a definite buy for me. Could I deal with a few more of my fave characters from both sides? Sure, absolutely! However, I won't get greedy. I've been wanting Sonya back for quite some time now... and how could I ask for anything better than what's just been revealed? They've restored everything that made her great to begin with, and they did a fantastic job of it. I don't know who the girl was in MKDA/MKA that was posing as her.. but it wasn't Sonya. Sonya just officially came back IMO.

Let's hope they don't dare to take these signature attacks from her again. I really don't know why they did it in the first place. I had hope for MKA when I saw that pretty much everyone had all signature moves PLUS new moves, restored to them. But still.. all Sonya got was copy/paste hand me downs. *shakes head* I don't wanna talk about, it's still a sore subject for me. ...

Anyway, I can't wait for November.. seems too far away just now!

As for the MK Fan base, lol, well, you’ve never visited the Tomb Raider forums, have you?

Those guys are seriously the most cruel and evil fan base alive. No kidding. They have Eidos and Crystal Dynamics representatives and people from the very TR team posting around and talking with the fans on the very board, but fans are still quite, well, evil to them and their “TR Love”.

If you think MK fan base is cruel or annoying...you have no idea how it is to poor Tomb Raider.
