Nu uh, I'll rent and return it. Then probably get a used copy later into next year or something after the price goes way down, just to say I have it. "I'll support it, but I won't buy it".

But ultimately, I'll wait for MK9...or, the "real" MK8 to come along before I consider buying full price or pre-ordering again.

Why wouldn't I? At least I'm not going around whining that the crossover ruined the series when we don't even have enough gameplay trailers to show us what the game is like... I will proudly say that I will buy this game and actually see what this game is like, rather than judging the game and whining that life is now ruined because of a mere crossover.

Yes, I'm actually looking forward to it. I set my disapointments aside since the news had broken out, I've moved along and plus I'm a huge MK fan. Not a huge DC fan but I've always liked Superman and Batman growing up as a kid.

For this year, there are 3 games that are must buy IMO: GTA4 (already got it and it's effin amazing), Ninja Gaiden II, and MKvs.DC.

I haven't even settled on a "nextgen" console yet, so probably not!
Like Armageddon (which I still don't have) this seems like a bargain binner, for sure. Maybe a rental to ride the hype.

As of right now, I'm just not sure. I was greatly dissapointed to find out that this was mk8. I'm intrigued by the recent interviews, but that has far from changed my mind. Once I see who's in it, what the fighting engine will really be like, see how well the finishers are handled, learn a little more about the story, etc., then, I will make my decision.....I've come a long way from the raving lunatic I became when this game was first announced.

I will if one of the characters I want to be in the game is, in fact, included. I will leave a little mystery to my post and to say who it is. I'm sure a few of you will figure it out.

It will depend on the gameplay and how the female characters turn out.

I think I'll rent it first and if I'm hooked on at least one female and the gameplay, then I'll buy it.

The graphics are not that bad shadow cat they actually look pretty sharp in the pics and youve havent seen the mechanics so dont judge them now and btw does virtua fighter have a story ???? Mortal kombat has one of the best stories in terms of fighting games I now when you get into the details it kinda gets corny but overall it has a very solid and interesting story also the characters are great and are very interesting. The last few games have been pretty dissapointing but mortal kombat will always be the ultimate fighting game. When I come to think of it what the hell made you compare them in the first place the whole style and feel of the game is different and btw virtua fighters graphics arent that great and FYI Mks using the UNREAL engine .

They actually made an adequate progression from last gen. 1)MK 2)hasn't, not even considering that those are just rendered(not in game) pictures.

Just ask yourself one question: Why is it possible, that with a completely "new" engine, this games graphics compare to the old, last gen graphics.

If my friend doesn't buy it, ill have her rent it so we can test it out... the scores MKvsDC gets on various websites will also be a big influence on my judgement, especially fan reviews.
This is the first MK game I am afraid of.

shadowcat, I'm a bit confused as to why you're comparing screen shots of a finished game to screen shots of a teaser video from an unfinished game. It doesn't seem very fair to me. For all you know that video is 5 months old. Plus the point of MKvsDC was to give it a dark and gritty look, so don't expect a bunch of flashy bright colors with character models that shine like plastic toys as VF5 tends to.

Don't get me wrong, I love VF5's graphics... but even they're not great when at being realistic. It's as if everyone put grease on their bodies and they're going in for a damn body building competition. Too much bloom/glow effects.
