See that ranting thread? If you'd please go there we'd dance all day long.

Based on everything Ive seen so far. No my expectations were not met, and probably won't be. I wanted Kitana, got her, but she's looks screwed up. So ehh, I'll be waiting for the real MK8 to roll around, maybe then my expectations will be met and MK will have learned to work with the unreal engine some more so we won't still be getting PS2 graphics and robot combat moves.

From the past 3 MKs I learned not to expect much. So, right now I'm only expecting this to be better than MKA.

I won't be so delusional to expect some kind of revolution in the fighting game genre.

You should ask a mod to close this thread then. You can't ask people does the game meet your expectations and not expect there to be both negative and positive. Not everyone's expectations of this game are the same. So if you're only looking for positive things to be said, you've just set this thread up for failure, because that isn't going to happen

Yeah, I don't get people who are saying that this game looks bad. All the people people who've actually played the game, (who are professional critics, by the way), are saying that the game looks great.

yeh see i was thinking about that as well.

Before we saw proper footage of MKvsDC we all assumed the graphics sucked.
The first trailer didn’t help either.

Then it went live to the public and obviously critics jumped all over it.
It was then that we all kind of breathed a sigh of relief.

I think the wheel has rolled back to the start again with the recent release of story mode pictures.

It appears like a good legit game. Can't wait to use Superman, to fight some mortals. :^)
Jax and Sonya look like they ready for war, but damn they could have gave my boy Jax some more neck bone. Or atleast the MK:3 look. I just want MK vs DC featured in the next Game Informer magazine. You know. Something to keep us "certified-consumers" satisfied!

I'm hoping for a step up from the last game, which I perceive to be the absolute bottom of the barrel for MK. So at this point, the sky's the limit I would think.

Well, if you look at noob.com, you could see that all of the original screenshots that were released had no cast shadows in them whatsoever. Now, in this Quan Chi one, we see some kind of cast shadows, so it's obvious this is something they're working on right now.

I have heard that Hans said that they are still putting the last touches on them .So, relax they wil be good .

I hope that this game saves Midway and the team will do more MKs .I hope that none of the Japanese fighting COs puts its hand on MKs because I will ve very sad to see a stupid anime touches in MKs .

It seems that the japanese COs cant seperate between Anime and serious Video Games .

Instead of changing fighting styles and put more ideas they just put more anime affects in the games and release it with a price of 59.99 $$
BS a big BS .

No worse. Lately, I noticed that Japanese companies, in their games, create a blend of real and anime. Which doesn't serve either side, I think.
I have nothing against anime, but if you're gonna go anime, do so all the way.
Or if you go toward realism, do so all the way. But lately, what I witness is characters who once looked animeish, but now have a more realistic look to them, but still act like Anime characters. I'm not gonna list any names so as not to spark off rabid rants.

Why can't Anime be serious/realistic?

I'm not saying it can't be serious, but Anime has a very specific convention about how characters interact. Their gestures, their reactions, the way the dialogue is scripted. And I think if those conventions are applied to cartoonish graphics, it works. If it's applied to realistic visuals, it can come off looking very awkward.

Have you ever seen Death Note, Akira, Ghost in the shell, or Ninja scroll?

Virtually none of the gestures you mentioned appear in any of those Animes.

They do to a certain extent. Obviously, I'm not talking about things like bleeding from the nose when seeing a hot girl, or falling over when you get verbally shot down.
But even if, say, a character sees something, or reacts to something, and they make that very specific, anime, "Ugh" or "Huh?" sound that they do oh so often, sounds really awkward when you watch a real person react like that.
Metal Gear Solid might be my favorite game franchise, but even they use some of those anime conventions in their cinematics, and when they do, I almost feel awkward FOR them. Maybe it's not an anime thing, as much as it is a Japanese thing, I don't know. But seeing it outside of anime feels really awkward.
And imagining it on Mortal Kombat, would feel pretty awkward too.

Interestingly enough, I actually say "huh" sometimes when I'm perplexed. Lol.

But I don't see what’s wrong with that. It's annoying at times but so is the gibberish MK characters have been speaking since 1998.

Oh, absolutely, but I'm not talking about when they're perplexed. I'm talking about when something simply catches their attention. Like... Okay, here's an example..
A girl sees a... Squirrel... She says "Huh?" then they show a closeup of the squirrel doing something. The camera comes back to the girl and once again she does something like, "Huh" or "ugh" (like I said, not in that disgusted way, but in that particular anime way), then they show the squirrel again, and it does something cute, then the girl does that stereotypical anime laughter, that "Ahaha!"

And yes, I'm not crazy about MK gibberish, but just because there's one awkward thing about MK right now, doesn't mean that they should apply every possible awkward convention to it.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Honestly, that is the one thing that I would never have if I were to make an Anime. That "Ahaha!" line drives me banana-fuck crazy.
