See, society in general creates labels for the colors. For example since you are little your parents teach you that you cannot have the pink blanket because is for girls. As you can see, since you are little you already know that you cannot wear pink because is not a good color for you. What I am trying to say is that people in general put labels on colors that you are not "allowed" to wear because it makes you different.

Just because one character is bisexual or homosexual or black or hispanic or whatever, that doesn't necessarily mean that the reason for adding that to the character was to "appease the PC gods". You can add diversity to your characters without that being the reason.
Anyway, people care for a number of reasons. Some homosexual players would possibly like a character they could identify with. Some gamers would like the diversity it would bring to the story (and possibly make the character deeper and more interesting). Whatever.
What does it have to do with the fighting? Nothing at all, you're right. However, so long as the MK Team isn't really going to focus on the fighting aspect of their fighting game, they should at least attempt to make the story more interesting, and diversifying their character lineup by making one, or two, or however many gay is definitely a step towards helping to differentiate the cast.

But my main question still isn't answered. Why have that type of person in the game? And what exactly does being gay contribute to the story? It honestly sounds like something that's trying to be force fed to me. Now, if you wanted to have a gay fighter in the game without going through the whole backstory about him being gay, then fine. Just ellude to it. Kinda like Zangief in SF. It's implied that he is and just leaves you thinking. Everyone else is making it sound like we should have a gay fighter, make a public service announcement in his story about it, then that's it. We'll just announce he's gay for the hell of it, just to throw it in there.
Ummm....ok then. Why don't we add to the list then by adding (and I know I'm fucking going to hell for saying this) a mentally retarded fighter. Make a whole backstory about how even though this guy/girls IQ is comparable to Forest Gump, go into how he/she has a special gift for the martial arts and is able to somehow fight with the best of them despite the mental handicapp. Or maybe a wheelchair bound dude that is somehow able to dispatch his foes with nothing except his head, hands, and his wheelchair. Actually, now that I said that, those would be fairly kick-ass characters simply because they'd bring something completely different to the table and their physical limitations would be an intreging twist in the story. Sexual orientation on the other hand, like I said before, just doesn't have any relevance in my book.

I am sure you are not 100% immune from getting AIDS. In case you didn't know, heterosexual people are the ones that transmit AIDS more than gays. I am not saying that I am right, however that's what somebody in the news read about the statistics.

That's what I'm kind of talking about. Since I brought it up earlier, I'll mention Young Avengers again. There are two characters in the book, Wiccan and Hulkling. They're gay. It's never outright stated in the book but there's allusions to it. It's done just enough so the reader knows they're sexual orientation without the pages going "SEE THESE TWO CHARACTERS! YEAH, THEY LOVE MALES!".
That's what I mean. Do it subtley. It comes off a lot better and a lot more natural than just going and saying "Kung Lao is a member of the White Lotus Society. And gay." or something. I'm not saying I'm clamoring for a gay fighter to be included, but it's not something I'm going to be opposed to either. If it adds to a character's story and helps to make them more interesting, that's really what I care for.

I agree.
I still think it would be interesting and even COOL to see a tough gay male fighter in Mk, doing awesome fatalities and having a deep storyline with potential. It could add depth to the game and HE could represent a powerful symbol for the gay comunity. It could be pointless, it could work...who knows?

I actually understand what you are trying to say.
Just remember that being gay doesn’t necessarily mean they are all happy, friendly and innocent. They are humans after all, so they can very well be in the same circle of sadness, hate and murder, like any of us.
But I understand what you mean, don’t worry, I just wanted to say that because someone else (or maybe even you) might end up getting the wrong ideas and directly associate gays with silly "happiness".

We're all human being with a feeling and a choice. While it is your opinion, you should keep it to yourself since it will offend many people.
You guys are way to young to understand. Once you guys grow up and understand the world around you, you wish you take back those words of yours.
