Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe-->9.8/10

I think the DC guys were at some point thinking of replacing Shazaam with the Crimson chin!

Once again, to clarify.... ANIMATION(body limb movement), not gameplay mechanics, is lame!!! To be compared to MK, MK II, (especially)MK 3/UMK3/MKT will be pointless as ANIMATION in those games were AWESOME. MK 4 had better animation than that what I see in MK Vs DC. It definitely won't live up(big comments) to ALL the fighting games thats out there(past and present, EXCLUDING MK DA/MKA)!!

If you have time to read this, Mr Boon, STOP GIVING INTO what these so called MK FANS want, and do what YOU think that can bring back the old one on one COMBAT to good old MK madness!!

Bah Ed should listen to us and DEFINITELY, (I'll say it again to strengthen the effect) DEFINITELY not to you. They really didn't have too many animations in the old games and the animations are much improved over the latest Mortal Kombat games. Besides I have no problem with them.

If Boon had fucking listened to us in the first place maybe we wouldn't be in this DC situation.

Namco are a bunch of fucking hacks. Just look at the degradation of the Soul Calibur franchise. When in a couple of years you see SC:Xtreem Beach Volleyball,know that I fucking called it.

How? SC still offers one of the finest 3d fighting experiences around (outclassed only by Virtua Fighter and arguably Tekken) and then to appeal to a broader audience and make more money Namco added comedy boobs and Star Wars. So where's the down hill part? Fighter fans get excellence. Star Wars fans get a fix until the next movie. And horny 13-year-olds get giant virtual breasts. Everybody wins. Especially if they play Nightmare.

What? MK II had better animation than a game that is buit using the Unreal Engine 3? Either you're joking or, you are just being sarcastic because you're dissapointed with the fact that DC characters are in the game. Look at this MKII video and tell me if you still think that MKII has better animation than MK vs DCU. I don't think the new game has the greatest animation on the planet, but I won't lie to myself and say that the older MK's animation was better.


Hell, check out MK4's animation, it sucked ass compared to MK vs DCU's.

I don't see how you can say MK2 or 4's animations are bad. They're both a lot better than any of the latest MK games. Maybe you think the opposite because MKvsDC has more frames or some bullshit reason like that but that doesn't save it. Maybe it looks better than the last 3 games, but the animations still look stiff and uninspired. Every time I look at it, all I can think is, I've seen a lot better. In other fighting games and in older MK games.

I'm just going have to accept your opinion on this and leave it at that. Please clarify this for me, I'm not trying to be sarcastic either. Do you think the animation was "cooler" in MKII or actually smoother looking? Honestly, you stll think MKII had better animation? Look, for it's time it was fine. I enjoyed the hell out of it.


Maybey you just miss the digitized look of that game. I for one do not miss it. To me, it was a easy way to avoid hiring true artists to draw and animate the sprites like the Street Fighter Developers did. I mean, look at this new MK and tell these forum members that MKII had superior animation with a straight face.

To me, it's the equivalent of saying the sky is green and meaining it. Just be honest with yourself and accept the facts man. If you do not plan on buying the game because of DC or the "stiff" animations, so be it. I will state that this game does not have better animation that Tekken 5/6, VF5 or Sould Calibur 4. But seriously, I'm not being a jerk, I'm just beng honest when I say that MK vs DCU is superior in terms of Animation compared to all the older MK's.

I see you didn't put down on MK 3/UMK3/ MKT. MK II and MK 4 for its time and the tech that was available was good. People played it in the arcade, liked it, and got for it for consoles. If the current technology was there in the 90's, possibilities of these games of looking better is certain. Therefore I do not disagree that MK VS DC is superior in terms of GRAPHICS to old MK games. But I wasn't comparing GRAPHICS in the first place!! These games were ANIMATED (body limb movement) better.

And I'm very glad that you agree that TEKKEN 5/6, VF 5 or SC has better ANIMATION(body limb movement) than MK vs DC.

BTW I didn't rant/whine/bitch about the game having DC characters and what not. JUST the ANIMATION (body limb movement). Don't ASSUME or make an ASS of U & ME. Please stop skimming through messages!! Not to be rude to you, please read up on the difference of ANIMATION and GRAPHICS!

Hey, never once in my post did I even mention the word "GRAPHICS." I knew exactly what you meant by your original post. That is the reason why I used the word "ANIMATION." The debate was never about graphics man, I have no Idea where you got that from by reading my response. The reason that I did not mention UMK3//Trillogy etc is because the animation on those games is only marginally better than MKII's. I saw no point.

The animation for movement and attacks in the older MK games does not even come close to the smoother looking animations that are being produced by the motion capture techniques of the new MK 3D engine. That is a fact, not an opinion. The reason why both Street Fighter 4's and MK vs DCU's attack animations look choppy compared to Tekken 5/6, VF5, and Soul Calibur 4's is because SF and MK are twitch fighters. SF and MK games rely more on quick reflexes to buffer and string moves together than the other fighters. The animations are cut short to ensure the players have better control response(Although MKD/MKA were both sluggish).

They are based on 2D gameplay which has always been that way. I'm sure you already knew that. Anyway.... I don't believe I was the one "skimming" through posts. Based on the resonse you gave, I believe you were the "skimmer", but it's all good man.
