Every aspect of the game should evolve, but they should also reconsider where their priorities lie. First you make the game play good, then you bother thinking about how far you can push the polygon count of a single character. Or how many modes you can add that haven't been in a fighting game before.

Every character in Armageddon felt incomplete to me, at this point i would rather see MK get out of the fighting genre and stick to action, I enjoyed Shaolin Monks and Armageddon's Konquest mode more than the actual fighting games themselves

Yes, they felt incomplete to me, but that's because I'm used to 3 fighting styles. But while we're on that, MKD is known to be a broken game, yet I still think it's fun. Heck, more fun than the other two. Out of the past 3 MK fighting games, I find that MKDA is the most pain in the ass to play.
Yeah, Shaolin Monks was fun in that Double Dragon sort of way, which is all good. But damn, the dialogue and storyline were terrible. And when it comes to adventure games, that's actually more of a deal breaker for me. If they took out the Vs. Mode and instead put more time and effort into the narrative, I would've liked Shaolin Monks better.

Shaolin Monks, definitely the most enjoyable MK game to come out in recent years.
About Armageddon, not only did the characters feel incomplete, for me it felt tedious to play because it did still have the dial-a-combo gameplay. And I hate being forced to strictly follow a move list. No matter how short. Which MKvsDC is changing. Finally.

Heck no, the Vs mode was more fun than the actual Fighting games. And the inclusion was nothing more than an afterthought. And the dialogue didn't bother me all that much. Sure, most of it was outright stupid, but it provided many great laughs. Like the "Are you ok?" line. And scenes like Scorpion's Terminator thumbs up was priceless.
This was a game based on a franchise that introduced silly things like babalities and executes victims in the most mind numbings ways. I didn't expect Shakespear to unfold on screen.

Well, like I said, when it's an adventure game, I tend to care about things other than gameplay mechanics.
Resident Evil 4, for example, had balanced, fun gameplay mechanics. But I hated the storyline so much that I outright disowned it. I sold it off and I'll go out of my way not to play it because of the storyline alone.
What's wrong with RE4's storyline? It's pretty solid.
I have to say MKD is the funnest recent MK. MKA comes in second. I can't say I care about Shaolin Monks, I've had it for months and I'm probably not even through a fifth of the game yet.

Like someone already said... Tekken and Street Fighter don't have to change a thing because Namco and Capcom got it right the first time. on the other hand, Boon and the team are always scambling for new ideas because they can't get it quite right. That's why you see MK constantly changing and IMO, it gets worse with every new MK title. T

With fighting games, I think keeping things the same all the time, even if they're the same, makes the game stale. I mean, there was no difference in Tekken 4 and Tekken 5's gameplay. Sure it's safe, but it offers nothing new except the visuals.
That's why MK is my favorite fghting franchise, because there's always something different with each game. I'd play MKD over Tekken 5 or Street Fighter anyday, and it's not because of the violence, but because of the presentation.

i don't understand why nobody gets angry when Tekken, sul calibur and other are nominated.Instead if someone write "street+fighter" actually a lot of people screams and rants!
joking...to the topic starter..it never happened and i've tell to everyone around here that SF4 is waaay better than MK vs DCU that is shit.
look the gameplay videos and compare to Armageddon's ones....looks the same, without the "fighting styles" name below the characters models and with the upgraded graphic.
nothing more.
and agian put off the T rating was the hugest mistake that Midway coud have done in his business life, considering how harsh are their financies...
however i'll stop here otherwise someone will tell:
"close this thread and use the official ranting one".

IMO the T rating isn't as big of a mistake as some believe. I think it's one of the best things that could have happened to the franchise. Fatalities are much more gruesome if they are down to earth. Gone are the days of gallons of blood spilling everywhere and people getting torn apart as if they are made out of cotton candy.

Anyone who buys a game based on its rating is an idiot. Some of the best games I've ever played were rated T, and yet, they still had plenty of violence and language.

About Me
When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yes sir, the check is in the mail."

Jack Burton thinks it could be argued that the "T" rating limits are getting pushed more and more with each passing year.
I think things are starting to become a little more commonplace and accepted, like some foul language for example. One person in the "MK gets M rating in Australia" thread brought up this same fact...I forget who it was...may have been Bio himself come to think of it...well, whoever it was made reference to "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" and the rating it got. It was rated "T" for teen by the ESRB, yet you got to hear language like shit, etc. quite a bit through the game's entirety. I agree that if the game had been released a few years back, the rating may have actually been higher. If you want to see the original argument itself (since I'm only paraphrasing), head to that thread and see for yourself.
And THAT'S what Jack Burton has to say at this time.

Hmmm its still aggravating that somebody has gone over this debate what seems to be like a million times judging the game b4 its even out not only that but crying about renders even if they were to release some renders somebody will cry or whine about it not being perfect as hell so basically why even bother with this, and just be patient with midway?

to be honest i've seen only two fatalities, and none of them are so "brutal"...
is more gruesome a heart ripped, head and arms cut off, explosions, etc or ...a gun shot(joker fatality)?
tell what's great with that fatality..just everyone can think about that.
nothings pecial and not gory at all.so yeah the T rating is a disadvantage.
MK become popular in the industry for his insane violence, sometimes unrealitical, but funny as hell.
take this element out is equal to ake MK out...
i'm not surprised at all that Boon already announced MK9 as a M game....

Over the top gory Fatalities don't do anything for me anymore. I like Fatalities that seem feasible and in the range of the combatants abilities. For example, I don't want to see Sub-Zero's head rip Fatality anymore, because he isn't supposed to have the strength of 10 men. But freezing and shattering his opponents to pieces is a different story.

I totally agree with you on the topic of the fatalities Nathan.

1) if you freeze your opponent's neck yu don't need ten men's streght to behead someone with bare hands(and if you look closely in MK shaolin Monks Subby freezes his enemies neck)
2)i'm ot talking about singular type of fatality..but about the violence level of fatality.A gunshot is more realistical, but not funny at all.and not brutal. You see it everyday.in newspapers, movies,TV,books, etc.
3)i don't understand why someone is taing in bad way about Mk vs DCU and other memebers quote who defends the game without givinga ny effort on the board.

I hope that this game dump the franchise.
We need a real MK, like the topic owner said, made with their hearts in it.
Not making this, thinking only in money.
Stupid crossover.

The first thought I had when looking at Mortal Kombat vs DC was: ''This is a joke right?''. Now I feel bad for thinking that of a Mortal Kombat game that will be so great. Now that Midway use UE3 instead of RenderWare, Mortal Kombat games will look even more awesome than they did in the past. It annoys me when people insults a game just because they think it will suck, and try to convice others that the game is going to be shit, for example MK vs DC. I've heard such bad things about this game like ''Why not Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter?'' or ''I prefer MK1 than this shit''. Im pretty sure that the REAL MK fans will never insult a MK game (except for MK:SF). The new features like Klose Kombat or Freefall Kombat are very good for me. The T rate is just irrelevant because you can see an eleven years old kid playing an M rated game if he/she likes it. Also I haven't seen any trailer of how the Adventure mode will be, so how people can be so sure that the game will suck so much? The only thing I want now its to play a game called: Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.

Ranting is part of the whole deal. If you keep buying crappy games, more crappy games will show up. Simple as that.
Now IS MK vs DC are crappy game? NO IDEA. Is it a GREAT game? definitely NO from the latest video of the final build. It won't come close to any fighting game out there. There is no acrade play(meaning pumping quarters into a machine), so no beta testing(for all of us public) no tweaks and no place for improvement or fixing.
Shaolin Monks was better, now upgrade the graphics for a game like that, we sure have a WINNER. Should've made MV vs DC in that style. The game seems slow, the animation is lame (mind you, NOT the graphics & if you rant at me over this you're sure an IDIOT or a KID ). Its the animation of the gameplay mechanics that will make it feel good. For certain characters the animation looks nice, but not great. There is no fluid motion, let me word it right, the limbs are not moving smoothly and they get stuck in some motion for a second too long. Either get the FPS correct like 60 FPS or get better motion capture techniques.
Story line will be THE saving grace for the game. Tekken definitely SUCKS in this department, but gameplay mechanics is almost top notch.
Oh yes, I've to give KUDOS for creativity! Not well executed, but creative nonetheless
Pre release rating for MV vS DC >6.5/10

Alot of big comments there saying this game wont come close to any other fighting game? Well I think were all going to see that when it comes out besides MK has always benn my fav fighting series and game at least they do things differently in every game then to keep the same characters the whole game series in every game such as Street fighter and Tekken though I admit I believe tekken sometimes changes things up a bit......sometimes.
