Hmm, this could very well have been a fake. There is a brief shot of a character that looks like Raiden. I'll wait for an official announcement.

Edit: I think I change my mind after watching it several times. The one thing I noticed is the character could very well have been rendered using Unreal Engine 3. The lighting, detail and everything looks crisp. It does have the disclaimer at the end. Who knows, this might actually be the first teaser! Thanks topic creator.. thought this was going to be another rick rolling gig lol.

Whoa! Now I really cant wait to play this game. Looks like I wont be getting any sleep tonight since I'll be repeatedly watching this teaser. Then again, this came out of nowhere so i am still a tad skeptical.

i'm of the opinion it's fake until i see it officially released by midway.

either way...whether this trailer is real or not, it doesn't give much info. Better to wait for an official word, it has to be more than this (if you get what I'm saying)

Even if this is real there is absolutely nothing in that trailer so it is completely worthless.

I remain skeptical.

1. The ESRB cannot rate a game until a workable, near complete version of a game is on-hand. They can't just slap a "M" rating on there because the rest of the series was M-rated. Also, the "M" rating is crooked...

2. It may just be me, but for some reason, for a teaser trailer, "completely reinvented" sounds very amatuerish. It also doesn't zoom consistently.

3. For such a "big" company as Midway, I'm sort of surprised this teaser trailer consists of nothing more than material that anyone in my digital media class couldn't throw together in a few weeks in Flash.

That being said, if it IS real...

1. That's one snazzy render. No cartoonish features at all. It looks like (and I half-think it is) a photograph. Graphics would blow me away.

2. Um, nice smoke effects?

3. Hurray for "Darker" and "Completely Reinvented"... whatever that means.
If it's real, I expect this link to get closed rather quickly. If not, it might be up for awhile. Also... I'm pretty skeptical of people with no past history here posting with earth-shattering news... but that may just be the cynic in me.

mmmm, doesn't look like BS to me, I think it's legit. Also the M rating logo is not crooked, it's perfectly straight. It looking crooked is an optical illusion.

Some random with 0 visits comes and posts a link to a YouTube video... and people actually think it may be real? I don't think so. I'd be very, very surprised if it turns out to be real.
Like others have pointed out, the game would not be rated already, and it all just seems very cheap. Midway are lazy, but I don't think they are lazy enough to create such a lackluster teaser.
I'm pretty sure I've also seen that raiden-looking character in another game.

Iiiiii'm still skeptical.

Sound is convincing, effects around the logo are also convincing. But the messages, and the overall presentation lack for a next gen Mortal Kombat. Even if it is just a teaser.

Look, Mortal Kombat usually dwarfs whatever has been done by other franchises to date...Especially about making things look good. They are at least professionals about that as they have show in the past. And that trailer does not reflect.

I do a comparison anyway, check it out for yourself:

1. Mortal Kombat 8 ("Supposed Teaser Trailer")

2. Soul Calibur 4 (Teaser Trailer)

3. Street Fighter 4 (Debut Trailer)

4. Tekken 6 (Teaser Trailer)

Not to forget any of the other ones...I just couldn't find them on YouTube. Made sure I found the youtube version so everyone could see the difference per the same video delivery mechanism.

I'm just saying, remember how dramatic the other games' teaser trailer releases were? This is nowhere near the other games' out coming....Whether that has a bearing on this "official trailer" or not, is up to you to decide.



And oh yea, that ain't Raiden. That looks like an oriental guy with Raidens older style hat, and either a black beard, or a tall collar on a dark colored jacket. So, this either indicates a retro MK...REALLY retro like millions of years ago when Raiden could have still been young, and had black hair....OR, the simple answer is that it's somebody else entirely.
Shang Tsung with Raidens hat on for some reason? Bo Rai Cho maybe?...but that ain't Raiden.

Yea....still Quite Skeptical even given a twisted analyst.

I find it a little odd that this only appears to be mentioned by you... Also, checking the youtube posters other clips revealed a second teaser trailer where the ESRB rating had been edited, I guess that should settle it's validity.
