I agree with this thread, take him out of 1 or 2 games. No real need for him to be in everygame. Especially if he will keep dying and dying.

The day either of these two characters leaves is the day that Midway goes out of business. Without Scorpion and Sub-Zero, Mortal Kombat is absolutely horrible. The perfect example of this is the original MK 3. I've never heard a single person who said it was good. Coincidence that it is the only MK title (Besides the "Adventure game" ones) in which Scorpion was not found? I think not. Shortly after, Ultimate 3 was released, Scorpion is in it, BOOM. Instant popularity. I'm not saying that the addition of the other characters didn't play any role in the increased popularity, but I'm sure Scorpion's return played a quite important role. Overrated, say what you will but I think they are appropriately rated, they are, in my opinion, the two best characters of any and all Mortal Kombat games. I hope that they never leave.

Scorpion's plot makes me sleepy. Boring stuff.
Sub-Zero is awesome and always brings in a host of characters who are involved with him.
Ditch Scorpion, keep Sub-Zero.

Actually, Mortal Kombat 3 did better then Mortal Kombat Ultimate in gamesells.
I say take scorpion away for 2 games, or forever in my case. He needs improvement, most boring story ever.

Yeah, both are over rated. Yes, Scorpio's story sucks more than any other MK story. But Sub-Zero has one of the best stories in the series, if not THE best. I agree that they should probably sit out a game, but if I were making the seires, I wouldn't sit them out. But then, I also wouldn't take a risk and put in unproven characters into one game, like they are doing with Deception, but, hey, whatever. (face it, guys, the characters that have been on the select screen the most WILL SELL GAMES--we have proof of that. We dunno about these dudes.)

OK First off I didn;t read all 5 pages that would take too long I just want to say. Have Scorpion and Sub. sit out a game I think they weren;t the only ones in every MK game wat about Shang Tsung? If I'm not mistaken I have played all MK games can;t say I remember who was in it everytime except these 3. He was in 1-4 and also trilogy and DA. Idk about gold, the other one, and tournament. I just think there both awesome they make the game. There stories don;t suck Scorpions is ok he's Hell BOund for revenge makes a deal with Satan to come back to Earth if someone killed you don;t you think you would want revenge.

Anyway, Sub-Zero is evolving while Scorpion isn't. I don't see why Sub-Zero should be kept out of a Mortal Kombat game to give other characters a chance when Sub-Zero never really had much of a chance in the first place. In fact, it was really about Liu Kang in the first 3-4 MK games being the champion and all. MK: DA was kind of the game to give Kung Lao a chance and they actually made him better than before, at least in my opinion. Sub-Zero may have become the Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei, but he didn't become the champ or the main character of MK. Sub-Zero has gone through a lot with each MK game and I think he deserves a chance to be the champ for once. However, if Kung Lao were to return, I'd like Kung Lao to be a new main character now.
If some of you think Scorpion is bland and boring and want to have him out of an MK game, why not take Jax with him too? Jax is one of the dullest characters in MK. The only good thing he did was kill Hsu Hao. Other than that, there was no real evolution and he doesn't have much of a purpose.
Personally, I'd like Scorpion to have a more evolved storyline. For Sub-Zero, I think they should continue to evolve his character and storyline. I think Scorpion is a bit overrated and Sub-Zero is kinda overrated as well but Sub-Zero is a worthy character and he deserves a chance.

They both look awesome in Deception.
One of them could have a break but it would seem really weird. If Scorpion's story starts to evolve and change he will be around forever. Subzero is still rippin and I can't see him being left out of a game soon.

nobody wants him in the game neither.

Street fighter has Ken & Ryu. Boon even stated in one of his interviews that scorpion and subzero are the all time classics. He will never make a game without them. They are the Ken & Ryu of Mortal kombat. If you all have beef with them, maybe you should play something else.

The thing is Street Fighter didn;t last long lol I always liked that game not as much as MK though (ok a lil off topic) But my point is if you left them out the game wouldn;t be the same w/o them

I'm a big Street Fighter fan as well, but I also call them like I see them. Ryu's unending quest to be the "ultimate Street Fighter" is alot like Scorpions unending quest for vengence. They are both boring and one dimentional storylines which have run their course.
Both of these characters are needed in their respective games, but good God, they need some life breathed into them.

When I look at him I can only think of 10000 characters that could take his place and have a purpose in the game.
I rather see Stryker now, at least we will finally have new faces and new stories. Not the same old crap.

OK the fact of the matter is that Ed Boon comfirmed that both Scorpion and Sub-Zero will be in all the future MK games.

sorry but without scorpion it will not have that mortal kombat feel to it. and if you take out both subzero and scorpion that will spell the end of the mortal kombat series. but of course ed boon cleared it up in a interview saying long as he has some say in the matter both scorpion and subzero will remain in the series . but i got to admit if quan chi is indeed dead, what's next for scorpion. hopefully the mk team breath some life into both scorpion and subzero and give them some better storylines in the future.

I bet if everyone knew they were confirmed the sales would be even better as well. If they weren't in, word of mouth about it would hurt the sales.
And why are people comparing the sales of mk3 and umk3? They were both released at completely different times. Didn't the home versions come out before the ultimate versions came to the arcades? And didn't instead of releasing ultimate they released mk trilogy? So in other words...everyone is trying to compare sales of a game(mk3) that came out on snes, genesis, gameboy, saturn, and playstation, and already had been in arcades for some time, to another upgrade release only on saturn and snes(much later on with parts missing?)
Gee, I wonder which would of sold better. I would say scorpion, original subzero, reptile, mileena,ect brought more attention to the game.
