Uum, let's see here. *listens to it again*
0:00 - 1:40 Are you talking to me? HA! I'm pretty sure that whole section there is a shot at everyone who's been stating that this game has bad timing associated with it. So it's not
just me that they mentioned that for, but still that's striking high on the entertainment meter for me. Thanks at for at least acknowledging the issue.
Btw, yea, it's a good point too. Still doesn't dispute the ill warrant for a crossover, and bad
(goofy, w/e you wanna call it) overall concept. Everybody knows it's a stupid//silly idea. aheh, So? So what? We still have to take that slap in the face. It now just depends on how we// I wanna deal with it, and I personally choose to be entertained no matter what.
Hopefully it comes out fun to play. I really do hope it's as good as it's being advertised...
Aheh, never in my life has there been an instance were a DC character and a MK character meet in a confrontation with the question: "Who would win?", attached to it. Actually, maybe once on MKO with MKfLegend. Other than that, NEVER. Not in any accidental google searches, no child-hood conversations, neeever.
But eh, they exhausted the warrant in seeking out Street Fighter, so I'm not "mad" at them or whatever. Just still disappointed. That doesn't change no matter what render comes out, or gameplay video is played...Won't even change after I play it. So? Like I say, SO WHAT? Now you
gotta convince me it's a good, quality product to buy (that sounds kinda good actually).
With that said, people will wait for "the best" from
MK. So, I
will wait. If the fighting mechanic in this game works well, and there are some truly excellent things being added//adjusted, presented, and exploited in the next one, I will most likely pre-order the thing. I wanted to do that this time anyway.....
=================
Let me clear up some confusion though. There are a couple things I like about this game. But
none of that is about DC mixing with MK. I like Green Lantern from the DC world
. < Please notice the period there. So....There is no "novelty" to consider for me, instead it's only the level of distaste per whatever character, or whatever "mixing" experience we're talking about at the time. Batman? Alright, he could probably work. Shazzam? *hurls* Palmiotti & Grey? Mmm alright, I can deal. Realms are merging? *hurls* Magic? *hurls longer*.....Sayin', it just depends.
Still don't care about the story that's being written, or the free fall, OR the close Kombat
(it's just not attractive to me. Seems like a waste of more things I could be doing that exploit my character. Sounds like, looks like big gimmicks. When it could be a cinematic bio or backstory, training, special moves, online clan stuff...ect. I don't want any gimmick I have to be convinced to like. I can "see" it.). I still wanna know if I can turn that stuff off.
Doesn't mean I "hate them" for putting those things in the game
(never that), I just want what all players want: As much control over how I like to play as reasonably possible. So, if they're gonna have these things in there, at least give me the option to maximize my kind of enjoyment of the thing. Let me turn those interruptions off and just play Mortal Kombat.
And like I keep saying, I like that they have reputable writers in there now. But they are not writing anything significant to MK. Story is one humongous reason why I play MK games, but this is just another non-existent story line in MK's saga of non canon information
(fans I'm regularly exposed to, including myself, are generally sick to death of that, they have to know this. They've gotta know we want at least one MK game where at least almost everything is canon. Instead of the normal opposite of that.) So? I hope it's fun to play through...cuz the story doesn't exist in this game as far as I'm concerned. Tell ya the truth, I would've supported ignoring it if they said this game was canon anyway. It's too goofy to be canon anyway. This games mere concept doesn't consider enough that matters.
1:40 - 5:35 Pretty much covered the Free Fall thing ^^.
Good to hear progression though. And it's also good to hear that there's
(seemingly) a person(s) like us already on the MkTeam = Ed Boon + whoever. All of these rants and so on may seem like just bitching or whatever, but the fact of the matter is, it's just concern for the elements in a favorite game. And the never-ending demand for a better gaming experience from said game. 50-70$ is alot of money for a game to a few people I've run into, including myself sometimes, so I don't ever see a problem with some of the more constructive criticisms that come from fans.
While I'm here, I need to say that I'm extremely impressed with all that they have complied with for fans concerning this game. We've been screaming "Go back! Use stuff from the older games and make it new again!" for some years now. So it's quite impressive that the game is said to function more like MK1-T. I am extremely happy about that, if nothing else. Just...do more of that. Use, and exploit everything about all of MK's core elements to produce a "New" MK.
From overall game story, backstories, character developments and sub-plots, to atmosphere, all the worlds, all the clans, to even a few different types of conceptual fighting mechanics based specifically on each individual character.....none of it has been exploited to its full potential. None of it.
In fact, alot of this game is left un-mastered for the sake of instances such as this game. "Starting all over". That's all fine with me and everything, and I do think that it's necessary to stay relevant BUT, can you master MK's storytelling please? How about exploit each character on the roster? This is a comic book influenced game, so can we get the profiles back, and a deep, sufficient backstory on everyone this time that is canon? What's the dragon symbol about? For instance. Dig?
Nobody has ever explained exactly who the characters are that we're playing with in all these years. Nobody living has a living family? Wha? Then what's motivating Jax or Sonya to be in the military? What is anyone "staying alive for? Who is Shinnok, and what the hell made him flip the script and become evil? What is whoever's power source and limit? Hell, how old is anybody!?
Build the characters up, and use them as other whole properties. Shirai Ryu vs Lin Kuei would be a no-brainer buy. Scorpion & Sub-Zero are connected to everybody on the roster. Make a "vs" game out of
that.......
5:35 - 13:00 Palmiotti enters 10:00 - I agree with the point about actually playing the game can change peoples minds, and or relieve alot of the pre-existing anxieties//fears and so on. You gotta play it before you can accurately judge the thing. That's just the fact of the matter.
I'm not fearful, or mad or anything goofy like that. I think I'm more anxious to "get it over with
?"
(so to speak). I don't know if that describes it accurately though. It's less than "anxious to get it over with", yet the release date doesn't hold relevance. I'm excited to see the next render, since that's what's going on in school for me right now..that's about right.
Far as gameplay, I've learned to wait on the game to come out..I'll just say that. Not def-toned or blind to what I hear or see about this game at this point, so it doesn't render me in-active as a fan and user here. But like I was saying, there's a couple things I like about it right now. But also, let's face it, this game "switched" from what it was said to be, right in the middle of production for something of an even more giant marketing scheme. Don't like it, but I'm rootin' for it. Still "my game" y'know?
13:00 - 14:25 Palmiotti Thank god somebody is paying attention to the writing, and dialog for the characters! This also sounded like a reply to something I might have written in the past couple weeks.
It's SO huge when it comes to characters that are supposed to be from different backgrounds and such. They NEED to sound, talk, interact, react differently.
Less computer generated obviousness in the way the vocals sound, and at the same time, the voice actors have to dig into the character in order to let the character shine through. Understand what we know they should sound like, and act.
I wish he could have name dropped some of the voice actors though. It's pretty trivial considering technology can let you sound like anything, but it'd be nice to know who's doing Batman vs who's doing Raiden for instance. Two totally different approaches are necessary with a difference in characters like that. I wonder if they'd drop us a hint or something as to whether they'd considered using sound bytes from animals and such, to mix in with the human voices? Something I've also suggested, and even identified with in high profiled movie titles.
Just saying, everybody's voice is not "deep and smooth" sounding. Needs to be more realistic now, than it has in the past. More....authentic to the characters, and less hinged on "time-sensitive" issues. I say again: We will wait for the best you CAN deliver. What says the boss man though? lol
Don't half step on the voice work...go all the way. I need to witness that you can do it. Make me brag about the voice work , and audio. Like I do for Battlefield Bad Company. Hell, the voice acting alone is it's own whole entertainment for me.
14:25 - ENDPalmiotti Mash-up Villain? Not surprised. Middle ground is the easy way out. BUT, I will admit that we could see something awesome from it.
Shinnok+Darkseid?
Shao Kahn+Darkseid?
Raiden+Darkseid?
(don't you do this, lol! Seriously, it's not right.) Uumm..Yep that's it for this one.

Look forward to pulling trash can specials with unlockable Jimmy, too.
Now that you mentioned it, that's gotta be one of his in-game moves now. HA! And it's safe enough to slap the T rated badge on it too.
*magical trash can lid appears from out of nowhere*
Perfect for this game!
