Following hot on the heels of the release of the story mode trailer from Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, Midway has released another trailer from the game. This trailer, entitled "Ultimate Mash-Ups", shows off two matches by showing a short bit of cut-scene footage, leading up into an actual battle. The first match-up is between Sub-Zero and Batman in the Batcave. Sub-Zero freezes Batman's hand, who then shatters the ice around it and throws a batarang at Sub-Zero. Batman's eyes glow yellow, showing he's entered a rage mode, and threatens Sub-Zero, and the match begins. The match itself shows a wide variety of special moves, Freefall Kombat, and Klose Kombat. The second match-up shows Superman and Raiden. The match itself seems to take place in an area where the two worlds are merging; half appears to be Shao Kahn's throne room, and the other half appears to be Darkseid's throne room. Superman arrives and he and Raiden threaten one another; in this case, both characters' eyes glow yellow from rage. The fight itself shows both characters' special moves, Freefall Kombat, and Test Your Might.

The more videos they release, the more silly the game looks with Superman and Batman
"Raiden"
"Superman"
After that I was just... embarrassed to be an MK fan and closed the window.

Deception and Armageddon didn't do that for you already?
Though there is a kind of comic book cheesiness here. I will admit that.

True. But I think it's the fact that there's more dialogue here that's making people notice it more. Shaolin Monks got the same reaction though that had genuinely really retarded (but funny) scenes. And Deception had Apep.

- Yeea, Batman and Sub-Zero are the only ones who do the "novelty" any justice. Just about everything in that first scene is perfect for that match up. Batman, "informing" Sub-Zero, and then Sub-Zero just....being Sub-Zero the way they have him. The ice trick at the beginning is the high point of the whole vid.
- In order to have made Raiden vs Superman work, you'd have to make Raiden as he should be. Which is "Waaaay More God-Like", and less like a "regular" character. Superman should have much more of a task in fighting someone like Raiden. (He shouldn't be scared, but Superman should get his ass kicked by a god until he figures something out. lol!) One is an eternal guardian of the entire earth-realm, the other is not. We should be able to tell the difference. Instead, Raiden seems like Liu Kang or Kung Lao vs Superman. Wrong. Superman should have to rise to the challenge against a god.
I tell ya what, they should've had Superman fly in like he did, and Raiden *appear* and cascade down onto screen in some dramatic fashion like he normally should. Electricity and Special effects are a must with someone like Raiden. Not so much with Superman. Raidens the more dramatic, erratic, more powerful force on screen....couldn't see it here.
- What I do like, is that Carlos did Raidens voice in-game again. That's gotta stay, but it needs more aggression and a more serious tone to it when he gets in the booth.
I also like what they did with Raiden's teleport. Could be more dramatic like before the 3D games, but it's good and quick like it's supposed to be (looks like it serves its purpose). I like what they did with his lighting toss too. Looks like we can hold it for more damage; Good. Y'know, I wish technology would let us capture the actuality of how erratic and damaging lighting really is, that would add alot to "Raiden" as a character overall.
Can't be sure about the torpedo until I play it. I wonder if we can do the torpedo way up at the top of the screen like back in the old days?
-----
Overall this one is about 30-40/70 or 30-40% out of 100%
- Voice acting is great and needs to be the bare standard from now on.
- 50/50 on the character portrayals in this one. Batman vs Sub-Zero are pretty much perfect iMo, but Raiden vs Superman is off balanced. What's wrong is it has too much room to be more accurate.
- Since that is so, half this vids cinematic are wrong, and the rhetoric that goes with that cinema, is wrong.
- Last, there's a problem in sounding too scripted in the Raiden vs Superman half.
30%, maybe 40% out of 100% because Batman and sub-Zero is right on, but it drops off dramatically with Superman vs Raiden (regardless of "my fav character being in there" factor.).
It should just....be better than it is.

Carlos didn't do his voice. Raiden and the Joker are both voiced by Richard Epcar, the voice actor for Jigan in Lupin the 3rd, Batou in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Bo-bobo in Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, Zangetsu in Bleach, and other roles, among which cast him as a fair few of the villains in the Digimon dub (Etemon, Myotismon, etc). They weren't kidding when they said they'd hire professional voice work. The only old voice we know of for sure is Scorpion: Boon would never give up that role.

That was bad ass.
I actually liked the Raiden/Superman's scene.
We also got to see Darkseid's/Shao Kahn's stage wich looks pretty freaking cool.

Awesome video.
There are many things I enjoyed:
BUT I HATE SEEING THOSE STUPID GLOWING YELLOW EYES ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!!!! We DON’T always need them there!!!! It would suffice with JUST having them glow in a very quick evil way for a few seconds and then BACK to normal!!!
Anyway:
* Subby and Batman:
Very cool short intro to both. I liked it a lot. Batman looks much better. I loved his new special move (the batarang bomb, but it should definitely be faster), specially the way he performs it with such style, awesome! And his new free fall is MUCH better then the first one we saw, but it is still fairly simple.
The awesome detail of free fall is gorgeous. I loved seeing those bats flying towards the camera as the characters fell, their shrieks were wicked.
Sub-Zeros sword combo was cool.
* Rayden and Superman
The mixed arenas of Kahn and Seid look fantastic. Very very cool effects in the wall sequence and great detail.
And the whole dramatic “Superman....Rayden” bit rocked. I think it’s cool.
Superman’s free fall, though cool, looks A LOT LESS COOLER then what it originally did. Can someone explain this? Why didn’t the character scream in pain or why was the beam so little and not shown as huge and as fast and as painful as it was shown in the earlier vids?
It looked SO much better before!
It still looks nice, but not even close to as awesome as before. The beam of light is thin and slow, and the camera angle in which is shown is boring when compared to how amazing it looked in the past.
Is this because the “rage meter” wasn’t completely full and that powerful?
Rayden’s torpedo looks wicked, but what makes it so amazing is the use of the classic voice he did in the classic MK games.
Raydens thunder ball being charged is a DREAM COME TRUE for some of his fans. That’s been asked in the past, and it looks fantastic. Can’t wait to try that. And the way he does it is very cool imo.
The cloth damage is fantastic, and the colors and combos look wicked.
Good vid!
Come on sexy buddy, that wasn't that bad.
Remember the Shaolin Monks dialog of some characters? Like when Liu Kang asked a death Shaolin Monk (after seeing what Baraka had done to the poor dude) if he was feeling Ok?
Now THAT was stupid.

Eh eh, wrong. You missed "In game". Aka, "while in action". Site Raiden's torpedo. The old one was "johnyboughtacar!!" & "Ineedmymoney!!"
That's Carlos. I know the cut scenes in MkvsDC are particularly voiced.
I'm pretty sure it's Carlos doing all the males sound bytes in the game. "While fighting", not particularly during the cut scenes.
Back in the day Carlos even did some of Liu Kangs stuff. Like the bicycle kick noise.

Yep.
Actually, listening to that old sound byte, and re-watching this new vid, it sounds like "Johnnyboughtacar!!" made a come back. lol (need to find the Mk2 version, sounds just like the one in MkvsDc)

Raiden Vs Superman is a pretty nice match-up. I'd pick Supes over any electrical powered DC character to face the thunder god himself.

Yeah thats what he's referring to.
