MK: Armageddon, MK: Shaolin Monks Sell Over 1 Million Copies!

Gaming review and preview website GameSpot have revealed that Midway Games announced today that their October 2006 release Mortal Kombat: Armageddon for PS2 and XBox has now sold over 1 million copies!

Ripping heads off torsos and dismembering bodies may not make good substitutes for parenting, but it sure does sell a lot of games. Midway Games today announced that Mortal Kombat: Armageddon has shipped 1 million units worldwide.

This announcement happens to coincide with another milestone; that being that 2005's MK adventure spinoff Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks has also shipped 1 million copies, also on PS2 and XBox. Our congratulations to Midway and the MK team for these achievements!

lol, so it took mksm nearly 2 years to sell 1 mil?

no mk will have the success that mkda did.

Awesome, Armageddon sells 1 million in just 3 months. I'm not surprised Shaolin Monks has sold over a million either, it's one of my favorite action games, (and not because it's MK). Good sales = more MK games.

i'm not happy about shaolin monks,in fact in more than a year selling a million of copies isn't the best thing,especially for a very good game.
mkarmageddon didn't suck,but it's not a masterpiece and in around three months sells the same copies of SM.
however good results for midway.

Ok, so it took MKSM one year and half to sell one million, I,m not really surprised, it certainly helped that this game can now be found in the bargain bin at 19.99 CANADIAN dollars. I wanted that game back in the day, but then I saw it back on the "shelves" and I thought , bah, let's buy a 360 game instead. And for Armageddon, I guess it's more about 1 million copies shipped to retailers than really 1 million sold to players. It took gears of war seven weeks to sell 2.7 millions and this game is exclusive to a " not so well established system" , like Boon said as the reason they wanted MKA on last-gen.

Good News. It's a great accomplishment to sell 1million of anything. And MkA must be doing fine if they shipped 1million copies to be sold.

Time spent on making the next game=$$

idk about any of you, but finding shaolin monks now was sooo hard for me..i had to order my copy off ebay, i thought it went out of print or sumthing, but yeah, i guess midway stung costumers one to many times with mk adventure games being crap that most didnt give shaolin monks a chance.....which is a same its a great game based off my favorite mk and has mk2

The announcement is that Midway SHIPPED one million copies not SOLD one million copies. This is just Midway's attempt to create some good news about the company to try and raise their plummeting stock price.

Nice, when you see over a million anything like pred said it's a good thing alone.Congrats to Midway, that's why MK is far from done.

No doubt MK:A obviously sold better and faster then MK:SM did.

Both great games anyway.
