Pretty weird animation for it, but yeah. My point was really just that the only precedent for a flat-out lightning move is that.

As the recent successor to Wizard Shazam.
Not (typically) as Captain Marvel.
EDIT: Wikipedia actually has a pretty decent description. If you recognise that 'knowledge of magic' is understanding, rather than execution, it's hard to misconstrue any of his abilities, which mostly amount to the many variations of super strength.

ah I see.
What moves would you rather have him perform?
I mean, generic Supes ripoff is generic. Superstrenght, flight? Please.
That's why I was hoping the "mystical hero" spot would be appropriately taken by the most powerful sorcerer in the DC universe, like,I dunno, the FUCKING DOCTOR FATE! He'd have so much more to bring to the table.

I'm liking the immediate transition from the cut scenes into the traditional fight mode.

I'd mock you for having no imagination if what we are talking about wasn't the antithesis of imagination. Representing a character accurately isn't nearly as hard as some people would have you believe!
Flight logically gets around the arbitrary presence of teleport moves (ie; Sonya's square wave punch), while a range of physical attacks easily accomodate the necessary catalogue of special moves.
Flying dash attacks, a boss-level strike visually flourished with lightning crackle, a grinning grapple bearhug... There are any number of alternatives, many of which would differentiate Captain Marvel as a fighter, represent his character more accurately, and are all comaprable to moves littered throughout recent MK history.
So, yes. If you're as dim and uninspired as your post suggests, you can toddle over to a console and find a range of kick, punch, and combo specials in recent games, that will spoon feed you the necessary logic.
Dr. Fate would've been cool, though! Yeah!

... What part of anything discussed sounds like it isn't their job?
I really hope that it's not the final product and some of the moves are still place holders. I notice Batman having the exact same stance and throw/grab as Scorpion.
If it is indeed the final version, then I won't be surprised by the fact that Midway went the lazy route again.

But he has done exactly what he did with the lightning in the game in the comics. If you watch Captain Marvel Calls the lightning and then jumps back as it strikes where he was standing, this is one of his tactics in the comics.

Honestly, what good does it do to quibble over what attacks Captain Marvel was given for this game. If you ask me, they did a pretty good job of differentiating him from Superman, game-play-wise. Though I've never seen him physically throw magic lightning in the comics that I've read, he has summoned the lightning as a set up for his opponents. He'll move out of the way right as it strikes so that he will not get hit and transformed back in his child form (Billy Batson).
That grab move he's doing in the picture with Catwoman is what he did to Superman in the Justice League Unlimited series. Superman is extremely vulnarable to that attack. If Captain Marvel repeatedly called that attack, he could easily kill Superman. The two characters are evenly matched in terms of speed and strength, it's the magic lightning really separates the two.
I'm glad the MK Team went this route with Captain Mavel. Also, I'm glad most of you hate him. Your hate gives me more incentive to use him online and own you with him. I normally play characters that everyone hates because it lets me be unique online. It makes it tougher for my opponents to figure out how to beat me because of the lack of strategies against underplayed characters.
Peace

Going to have to agree with that. Of course you're allowed to say it but it's getting repetitive lol

Wiki readers shouldn't interpret 'dodge' too substantially.
Not that the repetitive of erroneous opinions of the uninformed aren't thrilling additions to the discussion.
I'm not sure I'd call misrepresenting the character to fit the same standardized set of special moves especially impressive. Allowing special moves to deviate more substantically (and accurately) surely would've been the more appreciable option.
To reiterate; there's no reason arbitrary lightning attacks had to be added.
Even MK has some precedent for physical attacks for special moves. Jump on MKA and sift through the KAF menu, imagining lightning flourishes instead of flame effects.

I hear what you're saying and to that extent, I agree. But the two lightning attacks that he make sense are the ones that have been used in the comic books (i.e. holding a foe while calling upon the bolt, dodging the bolt after calling it with an opponent directly it the bolt's path).
He does not throw lightning bolts from what I've read, so that move is completely fabricated for the game. I'll use it nonetheless as it will be useful during online play. His clap is akin to the Hulk's from Marvel. It's just a display of his immense strength, so that move is entirely feasble for Captain Marvel, Superman, Darksied or any other super powered character.
Peace
