Point of interest:
GameTap: So, I have taken a pretty big dislike to Aquaman over the years. Is Aquaman in the game? I mean, seriously, his superpower is to talk to fish.
Ed Boon: I guess I'm supposed to say I can't confirm any characters other than the four. But just try to think of Mortal Kombat characters known for their swimming.
GameTap: Can't think of any swimming characters off the top of my head.
Ed Boon: Well, you'll have to keep thinking.

That's what I was thinking, either that or possibly the Water God vs. Aquaman....that also makes sense in a way

Umm...guys. I think the point was that there aren't any characters on the MK roster "known for their swimming".
No Aquaman = No Rain refference.
lol, That's just what I think though.
=======
Anyway. I like the hard-er answering style of this second Boon interview. Has more "meat" in it per the way he's answering the questions. Heh, he even seems a little "turbed" about the mis-conceptions. That could just be the writer though.
hmm...I think I'd rather answer these in the rant thread cuz I think it's gonna be a bigger, rant-styled post. Maybe I'll do an audio to make it easier on people. lol
Happy with the interviews you've posted Brad. Submit these as news or something man. See what happens with that.

That was actually my first thought, but why the “Well, you'll have to keep thinking.” part?
It’s like Boon is luring the guy to find someone on the roster who fits, “don’t give up” in other words.
Then again, probably just making fun of him.

Yea, that's how I took it.
Who knows for sure right now though eh?

Well from what it sounds like to me in that interview is that it's a continually progressing storyline on both sides. Chapter one or whatever focuses on Scorpion then chapter two would focus on Sub Zero, etc...Boon also mentions learning how the character fights and such which leads me to believe something.
What it sounds like to me is a fleshed out Konquest mode from Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance. Which honestly would be fairly cool. Basically you progress learning a characters moves and such and also learn more about their back story and such.
I could be totally wrong on that assumption but whatever.

Any of you guys have any idea on how the story mode is gonna play? Its the mosy part Iam interested in I just hope its like SM and not like D.A which sucked and also hope its long and not short!!!!!!!

I was thinking more along the lines of Armageddon's Konqhest where you run around as Scorpion, fighting DC foes, and occasionally going into arcade mode to take down different DCU characters...but like you, I ould also be wrong.

Too many Ninjas if thy confirm them. It would be MK Ninjas VS DC Universe.

And yet, we manage to learn very little new information...
I definitely understand the logic of announcing your game with a big exciting trailer, but if twenty's to be the cap on in-game characters, and it's not out until November... I think we've started the hype train prematurely, assuming it hasn't already derailed and smashed into a cliff face since the announcement...
Also, I have no idea what Rain has to do with swimming...
Aquaman's obviously out, but if it were a clue, I would've thought Reptile. The Saurians strike me as vaguely amphibious...

I'm excited for this game. I love how Ed is hinting at maybe they'll be two franchises, the original stand alone MK one and a DC VS MK one. I really like that. Also, i'm loving the merging of arenas a ndplaces, its going to be great.

Honestly, that "swimming comment" could have been taken in a few different ways. Since it wasn't a video interview and couldn't really examine Boon's "body language attitude" we really don't know or can't tell....but since "water" was the main hint, it can be Rain for all we know or he could have been joking as well....
We'll find out soon either way.

I wouldn't want to interrupt a master interpreter of human behaviour at work, but I'm pretty sure you don't swim in rain. Swimming. A waterball, lightning, and Prince reference... Not so much with the swimming!

lol, no need to be a master interpreter but since you ask I did happen to take a few "body language" which really does exist believe it or not with interviews, conferences, speeches etc to see how serious, bored, nervous someone is when answering questions.
Like I said originally, all we know is "water" with MK there's only two characters that involve Water(not counting Sub since he freezes obviously) but that is Rain and the Water God. I'm pretty sure the WG isn't in the game lol so who does that leave? Rain would be the logical answer out of the pure process of elimination.
We know Rain "doesn't swim" but his power is the mastery and manipulation of water and lighting. Aquaman lives in the water practically....
We don't know yet though, this is just speculation on everyones part....

Shit! Good thing you mentioned that!
Why, the theory that Rain matches up with swimming was just so damned convincing, I nearly didn't realise!
It almost makes you wonder why anyone would doubt that Aquaman was in the game! Or why anyone would consider Reptile might be an amphibian!
Wait here just a moment while I tell my friends in the Navy!
