Has some of the same, but a few new points.
Arenas will be merging, like half of Shang Tsung’s island and half of one from DC.
Also goes more into the development and the story mode of MKvsDC, and also talks about the next MK.

Cool, first!
Interesting read man, thanks
I like the fact that they kind of "hinted" at a future wii version with a different engine hehe, but just not right now. I'm hyped about the storyline mode and newer online modes/options.

Nice. Boon put my mind to rest a little bit there.

Thanks for that. At least we know we wont be playing as just one guy from each side the whole story.

Yep, Rent confirmed. I can see now that this ain't the game I go out and buy right away.
Thanks for the update man.

"I probably would find it disturbing if you could rip Batman's spine out. There's part of me that would want to do it, yes. We are going to have a big event, a finishing move at the end of the round that you will perform by doing a button combination, but I probably wouldn't use the word "fatality." Superman is a Boy Scout. He doesn't kill people. Batman is always a good person. Plus, I don't think DC would let us rip Superman's heart out. That's one of the challenges. We're going to be making big outrageous events -- superpower events -- kind of annihilate the character. He's not necessarily dead. Maybe the Mortal Kombat characters will have different rules when they're fighting each other -- we're still toying with all these variables."
I wonder if they'll let the MK characters kill each other?

There haven't been more than 5 good Fatalities since MKII, so I'm all for "finishing moves".
Merged stages could be interesting.
The Wii version will probably be MK vs Pokemon.

Nahh, probably MK vs. DC :continuation or something.
How awesome would it be if the wii version was more violent, ha. I'd laugh so hard ha, ha. Especially at the wii mockers
That would be totally awesome and help save the game if you could do Fatalitys on other MK characters.
What are they talking about here:
Crispy Gamer: Now we're going to assume that online multiplayer has been a big part of Mortal Kombat in the past. The last time we spoke you said that one of the things you were thinking about doing was having an arcade where people could put up quarters on a machine and play multiplayer. Is this something you think you're going to be able to achieve with this game?
Boon: One of the challenges that came about when we took on the DC license was exactly that -- the presentation of the game. We did have to postpone some of the directions that we were traveling down, and that's one of the ones, to be honest, that's on the fence -- we may or may not. We are getting more sophisticated with our online presentation, but that's a lot more towards the community stuff -- people being able to chat and talk to each other and cooler matchmaking. So between doing that and getting the DC approvals, some of that stuff had to be put on hold.
Where people could have an arcade and put up quarters on a machine and play multiplayer? Whats that about?

Back in the dark ages of video game arcades, long before most of you were born, people like me played video games for a quarter. On most games (especially fighting games), when someone wanted to play next, they would put their quarter on the rim of the machine to signal their intent.

The fuck?
I know exactly what you are talking about. I did the same thing but that was really random lol

Boon: No. We developed the game a good six to eight months thinking that this was a Mortal Kombat game.
That sentence literally broke my heart. Ah, what might have been.
Nice to hear the focus is strictly on making a better fighting game this time around instead of mini games and the like. A mortal kombat game that plays....well?

What news did you read to make you say that? Just curious.
Thnx for the Update. I find his words about SF, SC, VF dissapointing.
Looks like Boon is suggesting the same thing he did earlier with "rebooting", which is good in a certain way. However, MK lost it's identity along the way. With that, getting rid of their strong points without replacing them with equal or even better points.
I'm curious how MK sales will compete with Streetfighter, since they are the 2 most oldest fighting games. Streetfighter being more retro and MK being more of a modern game.
I'm also thinking about Madonna (yeah I know). She''s old school, but still on top of the game. How, because she reinvents herself with new innovating standards. Remember her single ''Music". A style copied many times after she did it.
Boon has mentioned reinventing numerous times. But MK never accomplished that. They never brought new standards. Examples;
Combo's: A good add since MK3. However...Killer Instinct started it, which didn't make it really innovative. Still in cobination with MK's projectile, juggle combo's, it was a add that gave access to more possibilities.
Weapons: Been there since MK 4. Yet again, been done by another succesfull game (SC). Has been nothing but a extra move to do some more damage to the opponent in MK.
3D: Not suprising considering the possibilities that came with the next gen. Unfortunate that VF, Tekken, SC and DOA did it before an way better. Mainly because their fighting mechanics was build on this concept. Unlike MK.
Fighting Styles: This was a innovative move that complemented the 3D fighting. However it failed, because the basics of the fighting mechanic wasn't optimal (like said above).
My point is, MK has been following trends. And not only gameplay wise like said above. The first thing I tought when I saw Sonya big boobs, was DOA.
With MK vs. DC they are doing the same thing. Boon talks about MK like it is on top of the game (like Madonna is). But a little self-critism about the last MK games wouldn't be out of place.

Well from what it sounds like to me in that interview is that it's a continually progressing storyline on both sides. Chapter one or whatever focuses on Scorpion then chapter two would focus on Sub Zero, etc...Boon also mentions learning how the character fights and such which leads me to believe something.
What it sounds like to me is a fleshed out Konquest mode from Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance. Which honestly would be fairly cool. Basically you progress learning a characters moves and such and also learn more about their back story and such.
I could be totally wrong on that assumption but whatever.

The story mode sounds like it will be interesting. I don't know about changing characters as you go along though. It would be better if you can choose any character in the game and they all had thier own story, but we all know that won't happen. Besides, it would take way too long to focus on each character's story while making it long and interesting at the same time.
