According to Mavado's Konquest, this is true:
"Mavado traversed to Outworld with Shang Tsung and Quan Chi and parted ways to search for the man they believed to be a spy from Earthrealm's Special Forces. Surprisingly, the first agent he encountered was Sonya Blade. Mavado had no idea how she had gotten to Outworld after Hsu Hao had destroyed the Special Forces base, but he knew he would have to eliminate her in order to continue his search in secret.
"Mavado defeated Sonya Blade and continued the hunt for the Special Forces spy that the Deadly Alliance felt to be a danger to their regime. It was not long before he was ambushed by Jax. Jax was in pursuit of Mavado's subordinate, Hsu Hao, for destroying the Special Forces base, when he recognized the mark of the Red Dragon on Mavado's back. Although Mavado was not the man he sought, Jax had no problem butting heads with another member of this new and mysterious clan.
"After a grueling battle, Mavado finally defeated Jax. He continued his quest for the Earthrealm spy and finally discovered him in a town located high in the mountains. The spy was in fact the swordsman, Kenshi. The two warriors squared off and prepared for Mortal Kombat."
And as we know, Mavado beat Kenshi too. Apparently, Mavado was on a roll in MK:DA.
Anyway, on Kabal....I like him. Not the best, but I enjoy him nonetheless.

10/10+++ i absoluty fell in love with this character aswell as stryker in mk3.

he was one of my favorites in mk3, but i don't like what they did with him in mkd. his story was contradictory as someone else mentioned. if he was a chosen warrior of earth, what caused him to reform the black dragon? it was a cop out, or lack of development to go easier on midway. they did the same with goro. is he good or bad? make a decision and go with it! there was nothing new or exciting about him, either. really just a 3d translation. and mavado's hookswords were much better and easier to use. they produced better combos. all in all, he lost his flare to me. 4/10

someone i only started liking once deadly alliance came out and i replayed the old games 8.5/10 for being prob the hardest character in mk3/umk3/mkt

I liked Mavado better, cause in MK:DA, mavado took out Kabal, Sonya, Jax and Kenshi, he is very skillful.

8.5/10 he deserves to keep the hookswords and all around a pretty cool character but he needs a bit of an upgrade storywise and moveswise

Coudlnt say it any better except kabal isnt my favorite character in my top 5 though 10/10

XiahouDun84 thx for clearing it up I hope Kabal gets killed in MKA, I had a lot of respect for him until he killed Mavado.

I dont like Kabal
I think the concept was all wrong and unoriginal, and he just wasnt appealing in MK3 compared to Sindel or Sheeva ... to me.

9/10 for Kabal. He rocks minus his MKD story and killing Mavado.

I don't like him. He was okay in MK3, but in MK:D his storyline was just... no. Completely ruined the character for me.

He was badass in MK3, I really liked his design. His trademark mask, respirator, hookswords, all look awesome. One fast psycho freak you don't wanna mess with. I like Mavado better though and thought Kabal should've stayed dead during MK:DA/D. 8/10

He had a great story of trial and redemption, but they kinda ruined that in MK:D. I'll always remember him as the nomadic hero.

(Which says little of him since he didn't appear much in the games.)

You can't fall off and get a ten// he's like Jean claude van Dam in this instance. Up all the way, and then we don't see him again except for breifly in the now.
