I think there's a really good chance that we'll see a MK vs DC cross-over comic book series after this game is released. Personally, I would love to see it happen. What if this is what Midway wanted all along? They would make a ton of $$$ off of it. Consumers would eat it up, including myself. This would be more popular than any other cross-over imo because it's more like a dream match.

I don't care that much as long as the game rocks.

If the game is good and the story is good, I might wind up getting comics of it.

The comics industry isn't nearly as lucrative as you seem to think.
There's a pretty good chance the game will make more revenue than a six-issue mini-series would. Games sell substantially more units, and bring in more from each copy sold.
And there are cheaper and easier ways to get into comics even without producing low rent garbage like the Malibu books. Dodgy crossover games: not required.

There could be more comics than just MK vs DC, they might just be trying to get a comic of their own. Games sell more but it's a way to try and get more fans.

Ohh no. I don't believe so...
But i have an idea!
What if this campaign is just a ploy to trick everybody about MK8....
in Reverse!?
Yeh? Lie to everybody in the industry first, and then show the real thing later?

Heres what I know. Warner Bros, who is in league with DC and owns all of their movie properties, Bought out New Line entertainment (newline is the studio that made the MK movies) Last week Warner Bros anounced they were disbanding New Line...
SO, Mortal Kombat has two things to gain from this game doin well...
1- If DC likes the game, and likes the MK universe, they may want to make MK comics. Mortal Kombat Comics being made by DC would have better word of mouth, and could be better promoted than the old mortal kombat comics. MK through DC could be a big money maker for Midway with that partnership.
2- If this game does well, Warner Bro's would be happy, and the chances of another Mortal Kombat movie would be greatly increased.
That being said, even tho creatively I dont think this game really fits, Midway made a smart business move by doing this crossover. Some might say that is selling out.. part of me says that they did sell out, the other part of me says that if this game turns out better than every one thinks it will be, then the MKteam made one hell of a good gamble.

Eh, maybe. If anything, from a business standpoint, I think it's just more so for the game than any other type of PR or something.

I think there will be something, I even posted a similar thread to this in the general forums recently but I don't think it's a ploy, business is what it's called for both parties here.
The game will bring in money, but I'm sure there will be some kind of comics written(short series or otherwise) involving MK/DC written by DC at some point.
I'll buy it, been wanting another MK comic related since the MKD comic series that never came to pass.

Yeah, the future for MK could be very good indeed. And I don't mind if MK becomes merged with the DC universe from now on, all of a sudden, it fits.
