An alternate universe storyline would be perfect to tie up Armageddon, eliminate the DC storyline as cannon, and get MK back to its roots.

Long story short, Onaga defeats Blaze and enslaves humanity. The elder gods abandon earth, and the survivors of earth live in slavery. One man , who loses his family to Onaga's soldiers curses the gods for letting this happen. This brings down the One Being, which is the god of Space and Time. Basically he says that the only hope of saving earth is to go to travel through alternate earths ( Ala Sliders, Quantum Leap ect ) and seek out warriors to come to this present earth and defeat Onaga.

This allows for classic characters to be redesigned, for example, and earth where it was Scorpion who killed Sub-zero, who becomes Noob saibot the spirit of vegence, or a world Shao Khan is the true King of Edinia. This also can give these characters an updated / redesigned look, and new moves.

This brings together alot of the original cast but reinvented, and it also explains why there was ever a MK vs. DC ( it was just an alternate earth ), and the story ends with the assembled warriors defeating Onaga, which returns everyone to their home universe, and retcons the entire Armageddon storyline, so that everyone survives , setting up a true sequel where killed off characters can get a proper death, and returning favorites don't need a crazy explanation as to how they are still alive.

And the true sequel would revolve around a brand new tournament, with a heavy focus on the Noob / Subzero / Scorpion saga.

Well for MK vs. DC, I'm less concerned about storyline.

But after, I would say Sareena, Sub-Zero, Kitana, Raiden, Mileena, and Scorpion.

i agree with this maybe we can hope to see the tournament with scopion/noob/subzero in Mk 9 if it turns out to be a pure Mk sequel to Armageddon.

i can somewhat say that if itz not a Pure Mk sequel then No this would not happen in Mk 9.....................................................................................................

I'm mad/sad about dis too, so lets jus hope.

I don't think it really matters too much who comes back, but I would prefer one of the following:

(1) Armageddon is declared non-canon and MK8 picks up right where Deception left off.

(2) Armageddon causes a reset of the entire universe, and everything restarts at the tournament on Shang Tsung's island, allowing for characters to be redistributed in the timeline and redesigned with new stories. Like the Crisis on Infinite Earths story arc for DC Comics.

Sorry to go off on a tangent, but it's a big pet peeve of mine whenever someone suggests a story where the One Being appears and interacts with the characters.

Every living being in the Mortal Kombat universe is made out of the One Being's sub-conscious. As in, his dreams. If the One Being comes back to life and wakes up, EVERY SINGLE REALM and everyone on them will cease to exist in the blink of an eye. The only thing capable of surviving is the Elder Gods.

The One Being cannot be a character. He can subtly possess characters in his sleep, as he's done with Shao Kahn, Onaga, and Raiden, but no more than that. The only way he can be a character or a boss is through other bosses.

I think it could start all over, or continue just fine with:

#1. Raiden - If you look at it protecting Earth is the main focus of most of the games. Raiden definitely has a place there. He's got enough to create a whole other few games around him. From beginning of time till now and into the future.

#2. Scorpion - Mascot, mainly. They need to kind something for the guy to do though. Has enough on his own to create a couple games with him as the center.

#3. Sub-Zero - Mascot, mainly. Although I think his students should get him into shit more than anything else now. Otherwise though, he has enough going for him to create games on his own.

#4. Edenia - Surrounding Sindel, Kitana, Jade, Rain, Argus & Delia, Taven, and Daegon; Centaurs, Shokan, Takata. King Jerod even.

#5. Shao Kahn - All the bad guys are connected to him in the MK universe I think.

But you get it though. If you focus on one of these characters, the other ones inherently come into play at some point or another. These characters could have games dedicated to them, and move their own stories forward with or without the tournament being there.

Well after Sub-Zero and Scorpion I think these characters would be great.Since the sirca number from each side is 12 here is the remaining 10;
1.As much as I hate this guys either Quan chi or Shang Tsung should remain.
2.the very trademark of Mortal kombat should be as well so I vote Goro.
3.Either Sonya blade or Jax would fit in.
4.As the main villain and since the very merge is his desire Emperor Shao Kahn.
5.either Sektor or cyrax.
6.Kano.
7.Kitana
8.Raiden with must restore idea.
9.Johnny Cage.
10.Baraka.

These all need to go!!!!!
