he's killing it off by thowing broken games seems they don't care. At one time mk was respectable mk 1 @ 2 now its just a joke!

My question is this, Why the hell do you care if Tekken or VF sold more tham MK? I play games that I know most of you haven't like Blood Rayne 2, and I think it's awesome even though it didn't sell worth a hill of beans. If you like a game then you should play it, plain and simple. I'm an avid fighting game fan who's been playing all of the major fighters since most of you were in diapers. I'm not joking, I'm almost 32 years old. I always make it a point to be one of the best at whatever game it is I play, especially Street Fighter III 3rd Strike.
We all know that most other fighters, including Bloody Roar have better gameplay than MKD, but I'll be honest, MKD is a fun game. Were the team failed in the gameplay area, they prevailed in making it fun to play sans the occasional infinite abuser. I have not lost respect for Ed Boon, infact I'm gaining a lot more respect for him. He and his team are going out on a limb to try and put together a monster of a game, one which none of the competition has attempted. He is listening to the fans and adding in gameplay elements in which to make the game more fun and more importantly, more fair.
If the game looks too stiff for you, tough! Marvel vs Capcom 2's animation is a hell of a lot stiffer than say X-men vs Street Fighter yet MvC2 is much more popular, Capcom also changed the button layout for the worst in my opinion. Midway has made some of the changes that I was hoping for, I'm just praying for a couple of more to be added. You also have to realize that the MK Team is no where near the size of the the VF or Tekken Teams nor do they have the resources. For what they have, I think they are doing what most of us here cannot do which is make a 3 million unit selling game.
Don't hate the Team, encourage them to add the things you want in the game by posting about it in the GamePlay thread. I mentioned a parry feature long ago, now it looks like I got my wish.

How can it not matter? There are ways of saying things, that counts as much as what you want to say.
Pretend you want to ask someone for a favor, and you talk to the person in an angry sort of way, close to screaming and close to even sounding arrogant, will that person only judge what you said without taking into account the way you said it? I doubt it.

The broken gameplay isn't going to kill this franchise. Mortal Kombat is still one of the highest selling fighting games in the US, and the US market is all Midway really gives a fuck about.This franchise is not going to die untill the games stop selling and MKA is gonna sell. This cannot be argued. That was beautiful man, and i agree (except for the remark about bloody roar that franchise has and always will suck ass)

Also, yes Hanzo, Malone is a class act and knows his stuff.We have played together on many occasions via xbox live.He's a great guy to talk to and you can ask him anything about fighters if you have any questions.He's also a fair guy in general.

The sales figures were brought up by someone trying to justify that MK was better than everything else. When the facts were turned around, sales suddenly didn't matter.
Now I don't care what sells more or not, I just play competitive fighting games for the strategic depth that some have. But, I mean, this is some backwards logic going on in this thread when MK was the best-selling franchise was disproved.
Anyways, onto more better discussions, hopefully the air-combo system will perhaps turn the game's emphasis back into a 2D game, where MK played well.
Also note that a lot of the basic mechanics are common sense, maybe Boon didn't talk about them because he didn't want to look like an idiot. EX. Saying stuff to magazines like... WE NOW HAVE THROW ESCAPES! And then having interviewers tell you that has been in since Tekken 1 and Virtua Fighter 1 over a decade ago would look really bad. Saying stuff like that would mean Boon would have to admit that his game wasn't as good as he made it sound, and marketing and PR would never have that, for serious. I know some peeps who work at Midway though, they say Boon is a fruit and won't listen to any gameplay related suggestions from anyone, but like.. 2-3 other people.

I think the the sales the positive press and awards have gotten to Ed's head He saved MK from oblivion and turned back into a million seller and in all fairness to Ed, he has the right to be arrogant. His games have done a hell of alot better than John's. Read the Shaolin Monks press where he talks about why MKM: Sub-Zero and MKSF and why they sucked because he didn't anything to do with them, and Shoalin Monks would be good because He was directly involved, for the most part he was right but we got an abomination of a storyline. The decent reviews of MKSM are still feeding his ego. The ONLY way you going to kill Ed's arrogance is poor sales and we all know that MKA is gonna sell. I repect the man but he needs come down off his pedistal.

That was pretty painful for me to read. I would take you seriously, but you didn't even have a structured criticism. Plus you take way to many slangs, and you seem to be having a conversation with yourself half the time through.
However I read what you said for the most part and you had a few valid points... but everyone here knows MK has room for improvement, but so do most games. Also, about Ed Boon ruining Mortal Kombat... that doesn't make any sense. Ed has done several good things for Mortal Kombat including co-creating it. So please next time you choose to rant, spell everything out, and take your time.

None the less.... He did have valid points IMO..... Especially, about Ed and John needing each other..... With just half the original creative mind you get just half the potential product.... They seemed to give a balance to one another in their creative decisions.... Not that I'm complaining about the games now, but we all know they could always be better...

Yes the first Mortal Kombat game was good, when it was out. However by the standards of today it is a pretty simple game, and not that great. I mean Mortal Kombat 1-3 are great IMO. However the games of today are better.
Mortal Kombat hasn't gotten worst, the competition has just gotten better.

The example of other fighting games not changing much is a valid one in my opinion. Tekken 5 has hardly evolved from Tekken 3. In fact, it went back a few steps from Tekken 4 when a few new additions didnt pan out right. That damn right shits me. They stuffed up a feature that should be in so they just decide to hell with it. The only difference is character adjustments and graphics. I can still go back and play Tekken 3 and it feels MODERN. That is the problem with fighting games. They are going no-where. Thus their fall from grace. I remember EVERYONE at school playing Tekken 3 back when it was new. I remember going to friends houses with 10 or 15 of us waiting to tussel in a match with looser passes the control rules. Now, its all about FPSes. Why? Because they are getting better and better, and fighters arnt. Look at Halo. It was released on PC a couple years after its massive success on XBox, and it is nothing compared to its PC rivals. Nothing.
3D fighters need to evolve in my opinion. And Midway is the only company atleast TRYING to do this.

The reason why games like Tekken and VF don't drastically change is because they have a system that works. Why fix something that isn't broken? In the case of MK that whole damn game needs a makeover.

What to you says same game? I know when I play a Tekken game it's diferent every time. You couldn't be a world beater at 5 and then play on 4 or TTT with the same skill until you took the time to learn each game's characters and it's mechanics.
It's not as simple as looking up a combo in MK and "dialing" it up.

I am not paying that kind of money and get 3 extra cheap caracters and a lame "devil within" minigame. And don't even bring up to crappy customise your boring caracter. It's a complete joke, and wast of good money.
