Why drop another $50 down for the same fucking game over and over again?

What to you says same game? I know when I play a Tekken game it's diferent every time. You couldn't be a world beater at 5 and then play on 4 or TTT with the same skill until you took the time to learn each game's characters and it's mechanics.
It's not as simple as looking up a combo in MK and "dialing" it up.

You just contradicted yourself. You said it yourself, if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Thats why I can beat tekken 5 with my tekken 2 skills, peanuts.
I am not paying that kind of money and get 3 extra cheap caracters and a lame "devil within" minigame. And don't even bring up to crappy customise your boring caracter. It's a complete joke, and wast of good money.

Exactly there hasnt realy been any real changes made to tekken beyond a graphical standpoint, alot of the combos are exacly the same in Tekken 5 as they were in Tekken 3.
If it ain't broke don't fix it is not to be taken literally.
It means that the system is already good, and doesn't need major additions to make it good.
The Tekken games do change every installment, because no game is perfect. Not even VF4.
It's more tweaking / fine tuning the engine than reinventing, because they don't need too reinvent it.
There's a very big difference between T2 and T5. And the skills required to play the game well, are also very different, because of all the new options.
In T5, you now have
side step
side walk
A ton of different moves
Different animations for old moves
different properties
the juggle abilities are different
a lot more characters
A combination of Finite and Infinite stages
stage interaction
Universal low parry
Tec. roll
Tec. recovery
side step attacks
reversal counter
Faster combat pace
Unique throw escape animations
Buffering
Air throws
Different jump style
You have a lot more back facing options now
Side throws, back throws ( I don't remember if T2 had these )
Little things, make a big difference.
There's a lot more to learn and do in T5.
Of course if you just play against the computer on a normal difficulty setting, it's going to be easy to beat. The AI in Tekken games is not that great.
The same goes when playing someone else that's not very good at the game.
Try to bring a character to “TekkenLord” in Arcade mode.
That's still not nearly the skill required to beat a good player.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
From T3 to T5 the changes are
side step properties are different
side walk
A ton of different moves
Different animations for old moves
different properties
the juggle abilities are different
a lot more characters
A combination of Finite and Infinite stages
stage interaction
Universal low parry
Tec. recovery = spring back up, or roll back when you fall.
Faster combat pace
Unique throw escape animations
Buffering, I think buffering has been upgraded
Air throws

Who can you beat with your Tekken 2 skills?
What's with your obsession about how many new characters are introduced into a fresh game of a series?

The fact that people still defend Ed Boon and Mortal Kombat is laughable.
The engine sucks and this cannot be denied unless you DON'T PLAY THE GAME COMPETETIVELY. 99% of you do not, so I can understand why you believe the system is fine..kinda.
Ed boon is about as clueless as Alicia Sylverstone. I really hope MKA isn't too much of a mess, and that it will still be a blast to play like MKD was even when the engine was retarded.

Thats another thing.
ROTFLMAO @ people who think T3,T4 and T5 are just the same game with more characters. They all are so different from each other outside of the basics it's not even funny. Anyone who says this should be banned from this web site.
That's like saying MK1 and MK3 are basically the same thing with just better graphics and more characters.

Um...welcome to online message boards. confused
While it's true that no game is perfect, there is such a thing as quality standards.
And what was wrong with the last 2 games? Quality of the fighting mechanics was below standard.
For a list of reasons, go to the TTT game play thread link in my sig.

OK now I know you're BSing. Tekken 5 has changed sooooooooooo much since Tekken 2. Everyones move list has quadrupled since Tekken 2, and there are tons more combos and juggles to do in T5. That just shows me you're probably played Tekken 5 once and never even gave it a chance.

WTF? Haha, tekken isn't designed to use jumping mechanics in the first place. Kind of like how MK isn't designd to be a decent, logical, non-broken fighter.
For the record, T5 is still a sloppy joe. Some whacky shit goes on in that game. "sigh" i really wish VF or GG were popular in the states....bunch of MvC and SC tools....
Edit: Man, where are all these people coming from!!! It just doesn't stop!!!

I bought Tekken 5 when it came out, I picked my favorite fighter Paul Phoenix and beat the game on normal in one go, I used all the same combo's and a few juggles that were new to me.
Lei wu Long, same deal, beat the game on normal in one go. So how do you want me to proove that i'm not lying, I know, come on over here and pop in the game, i'll show you. I'll bet I can still do it, since I played these games for quite a while. I'll bet that would shut you up once and for all on this matter

You’re joking right.............?
Beating the computer on normal is nothing.
Play the game on ultra hard at least.
You need to try something that takes a little bit of skill, maybe get a few characters to TekkenLord on the Arcade mode.
The AI won't get too tough till you get to TekkenLord status, and even then it's not that hard.
That's one of the weak parts of Tekken 5.
The computer's AI is not that smart, it can't even do decent juggles.....
Basically, the computer doesn't compare to how tough it can be to beat a human player.
One that knows how to play the game well.
I can see why you have that mind set though.
I used to think I was pretty good before, playing the computer on ultra hard. But once I started going to the arcades, it's totally different.
I had to learn all kinds of strategies to be able to compete, and even then it's tough.
I'm pretty good now, not great but I win like 90% of the time at the arcade. Still, some people are almost unbeatable.
I'm most comfortable with the ultra hard setting on the PS2.
It takes a lot of skill to play the game well, I guess more than you can imagine at this point.
So, like I said before...
Play the game on the hardest setting, and get some characters to Tekken Lord rank in Arcade mode.
That's the closest you can get to a human on the PS2 against the computer.
