The more Ping you have the better the Connection you have when it comes to Online Games. I been playing MKD and MKA for the expand of 4 years online now. If my opponent only has 1 star (or Ping) out of the 4 you can have,Then that is bad. It means that certain moves of theirs will come out faster than they are supposed to and will be able to make "unsafe moves" 100% safe. I hate Lag. So therefore,I try to play people with good connections and or 4 Star ping.

Low Ping is better.
On Xbox the colour coded bars are showing a better connection rate. More bars meaning lower ping. While less bars, and in red, mean higher ping or more latency between two people. Same deal with PS2 and the star system. More stars = lower ping and a better connection.
Another example explaining this.
And finally the term "low ping bastard" is from someone having a low or really good ping and them having an advantage in a game.

KARATE, low ping scores are better. MKA does it backwards, because they go by connection quality and not ping.

I am now playing it again and let me tell you,I have yet to meet my match.

It's ok. I can see where there could be confusion if you only used the PS2's connection quality meter and people were telling you that you had good ping, as you would relate that the higher it was the ping must be high too and you would have a better connection.

Yeah with going on IRC all along, I knew the ping part was actual "ping" but hadn't even realized that the "pong!" part was an actual term used for the return packet of data.
And KARATE, I'd be playing MKA online on PS2 but I messed up my ICS (internet connection sharing) on windows XP somehow, so i'll do a reformat and see if it lets me connect soon. I don't own a wired router yet, but that might solve my troubles too.
ICS did work *before* I messed it up as I got to log in and see the listing of chatrooms and got to see the different trophies for people who ranked in top place overall.
The reason I hadn't connected to play right then was I can't find my Socom usb headset and I didn't wanna bother hooking up my usb keyboard at the time.
Ah well, when I finish a download on shareaza soon I'll reformat and try it all out again.
Hopefully I can get both my PS2 and Xbox360 online to play a few games with people, though I've not played MKA for months and have only beat the game with half the characters as I got bored with it, just been playing UMK3 as I find that a far better and more balanced game.
