Pred, that was definitely the longest and probably most insightful thing I've read on this site. You and I could probably talk about this for hours (PM if you like), but for the sake of getting my work done before class, I'll try to be brief.

What you said about his "successfulness" and not taking a black woman with him makes sense. I somehow feel like I should feel guilty, but I really don't. He's into me and I'm into him--that's our business between the two of us and no one else. It just bothers me that what I do in my personal life would make someone give me a look like they would just love to punch me in the face. If the situation was reversed, I suppose, and I saw a black girl with a very hot successful white guy--more power to ya honey. Yes, that's one less "good one" on the market, but Jesus, there are like 7 billion people in the world. There are plenty more where that one came from. Deal with it.

What's funny though is that this is not limited to "good" black/mixed men. I was in the mall with my black gay roommate the other day and we both got the ugliest looks from other black lesbians. People assume we're together when we're in public, and I don't really care because I know what I like and what's going on. It does bother me a bit sometimes because it makes both of us uncomfortable when we catch the gaze of some angry/scary looking lesbian with a crazy mohawk across the room. But eh... I guess that's lesbians in general though. Drama.

As for Debarie, if they're going to hate, they're going to do it no matter what. I guess he's sort of the ideal man for a lot of women... he's certainly my ideal. He loves kids, goes to school, wants to be a teacher, played football and basketball, and looks damn good. He's full of himself, obviously, but we get along. I could see us settling down one day, but he'll have to down the ego a notch or two and stop drinking all my beer first if he knows what's good for him... lol

High school sweethearts commonly grow apart in a multitude of ways. Especially when you do like we did, and create a whole multifaceted, interconnected lifestyle around eachother. We didn't just "break-up" as a result, it eroded over time. However, it did have its dramatic/traumatic moments for us both.

I'm definitely for interracial dating. To be quite honest, I had opportunities to date a particularly attractive Haitian woman from one of my former places of employment and she was awesome, but I was too immature to date her, namely out of fear of what my family would think (my parents are not in favour of interracial). The sad part is that this gal knew Italian better than I did, we probably could've done well together, but that's in the past.
Now that I grew a spine, I'll date whoever I want, whenever I want, and am currently pursuing a beautiful Trini woman. We'll see what happens there I guess!

I'm all for interracial dating. I've dated girls from a multitude of races and the way I see it. If i like a girl I like a girl. Doesnt matter what color/race she is. I'm 100% black (although you cant tell in my avatar pic) And some of my old friends used to get mad or weird when i dated other racists. My grandma even used to call one of my ex's a 'snow bunny'. It doesn't bother me too much though. I date who I want and nobody else will run my life.
