So much negativity coming from people who doesn't know shit about the game. You have only seen a miniscule amount of footage from a pre-alpha build of the game, and already you judge the game as if you knew all about it.
You're just displaying your ignorance.

When I saw the list of this developer's previous games, which includes Battleship: The Movie: The Game, I feel Microsoft should have done what Sony Pictures did with After Earth when they DIDN'T tell people it was made by M. Night Shyamalan. The way M$ is handling this console and this game I'm more desired to experience the Video Game Crash of 2013.
I've never played a Killer Instinct game, probably never will either... What I saw... really didn't impress me one bit, and I thought these guys were giving the fans what they wanted for such a long time. I can see why there's a lot of disappointed people here.

Huh, you know that's what I said when All-Stars was first announced. Now you know my struggles.
On topic, I'm kind of iffy on the designs. I hate that Jago is ridiculously beefy, and that Saberwulf looks way too navy blue. Glacius looks okay I guess, but those things on his body look dumb. Those rock-like things coming off his chest.

I think the majority of it is from the new art direction. Which I'm totally fine with. And the fact it's a Microsoft exclusive.
I think the gameplay looks promising for a pre-alpha build. I don't see the problem for cherry-picking the best ideas from other good/great fighters. I don't get all the hate for saying it's ripping off street fighter, when NRS themselves have increasingly borrowed ideas from Street Fighter such as double dashing and using away & down for block rather than a dedicated block button.

If you watch the video impression i posted, which also has some gameplay footage. It actually sounds like they do know what they are doing, and know a lot more about fighting games that we may suspect. Just because they're games have been mediocre and they haven't developed a fighting game before. A throw and parry system similar to Street Fighter & Street Fighter 3. A more intuitive combo breaker system, and fast paced gameplay like the original KI games, that actually require precision rather than just button mashing and doing string inputs.
if anyone actually remembers the original KI games, the combo inputs where just string inputs and the animations where very canned like in Tekken and UMK3.

A timed exclusive is something that remains exclusive for a limited time.

In particular a few rather important notes were made, the first thing mentioned was that there was a small misconception with the game being free-to-play. While the game is a launch title for the Xbox One, fans will be able to purchase the full game on it's release. There will also be a demo which comes with Jago as playable character where you can play all of the game's modes including online mutliplayer.
If you decided after playing the demo that you liked the game, you can selectively purchase packages which feature various characters.

Good update to hear about the F2P model (if you missed it).

I'm friggin' psyched. Watching actual gameplay has pretty much sold me. The hype that oozes from this game is crazy awesome. I'm very happy for the franchise.
And the F2P Model is great. I wish more games would do that.

I am hyped as well! But what do you think about it being Xbox One exclusive? What is your opinion on that console? Personally, the console was never one I would buy if it wasn't for KI.
Also, glad to see someone else being positive about the F2P model. As I said, it is odd, but not necessarily bad. I just think people need time to get used to this kind of game-promotion, as it is a rather new concept for console games.

I will only because of the backlash against the XBox One system itself, but Sony fans will still get their fix to play the game at EVO.

@Jaded-Raven
I really don't like mixing my feelings about this (or any) game with the platform(s) it's on, but we all know that Xbox has a LOT of work to do to regain any kind of favor. I think that it's honestly way too soon to make any statements about which console is "better" or which has "won." There's like half a year before launch and that's plenty of time for Xbox to check themselves. If they wanted to, they could do away with all of the always-online and used game shenanigans before launch. We'll see.
As of right now, whenever I make the jump to next gen, it looks like I'll be going with Sony, but all that could change with a single announcement from Microsoft. There's a lot of game left to play yet.
And I really don't mind the character packs at all. It's not really F2P, but a demo that lets you do everything with one character, and you just buy whatever character packs you want. I think that's totally the way to go. I know I don't play every character in fighting games, so why pay for them? If you do, buy the complete version which won't be any more than a standard retail release. I really don't see what the fuss is about. I think people are just enjoying having something easy to hate right now with Xbox.

When I think of Killer Instinct, the first things that come to mind are lengthy over the top combo and violence like MK. Which the game looks to have so far. It doesn't bother me that the developer is cherry picking the best aspects of other fighting games. If you watch the video I posted, I feel much more at easy that DH knows more about fighting games that we are giving them credit for.

The problem is - I wouldn't call SF4 graphics to be "one of the best aspects of fighting games" never ever. SF4 graphics / art style is quite shitty. It's neither here nor there. It's doesn't carry smoothness and ease of the past instalments and it doesn't look good and groundbreaking. Which is was one of the highlights of the past KIs.
You want good graphics in fighting games, well, Soul Calibur, Tekken, Virtua Fighter are unrivaled champions here.
