I did man, I bought a PS Console for Hardcore Fighting games. If I wanted SSB I'd of got a Wii. But in all seriousness if you like it that's cool. But XBOX has gotten away with so many Fighting game exclusives. And not just KI. Lets go back in time to Tao Feng and Kakuto Chojin.

Brawlers are a sub-genre, yes. But they are still fighting games too, since the objective is still the same as in traditional fighters. Which is defeat the opponent. Only difference is how they do it.
All I'm saying on that matter.
All I'm saying on that matter.

The thing is that every XBOX-exclusive fighter has been absolute shit, and this will be no different. You shouldn't be complaining about this, because you aren't missing anything.
And yea, Playstation All-Stars was a giant piece of crap.

Oh I'm not bothered that you don't like PSAS. That's totally fine. But what bothers me is when people call it a "Smash Bros rip-off" when it's clearly not. Sure, it LOOKS like Smash, but play it and it's completely different.
Inspired by Smash Bros? Yes. But so what? Every game in a genre was inspired by an earlier game in that genre.
Cartoon Network and TMNT made brawlers and no one bats an eye. But when Sony makes one and it's automatically a Smash rip-off. What's ironic is that Cartoon Network and TMNT's games actually play more like Smash, while PSAS is the most different.
Yet it still gets the most heat. I just don't get it. Anyway, I'm sorry for derailing the thread. This was my last post about PSAS I promise.

Which is the same objective in many shooters, PVP based MMO's, MOBA's - to defeat the opponent... but they aren't considered fighters.
That said, I do get why you would consider them the same genre, however, because I don't think it is enough to call them fighters, then let us just agree to disagree. ^^

Back on the KI topic...
I like how they have kinda strayed from the ninja-look with Jago. He was never a ninja, he was always described as a Tibetan Warrior Monk, a believer of the Tiger Spirit who joined the KI tournament on its behest. His new look is alot more monk-like and less ninja, though they still have some features from his former appearance, like still wearing a mask. Even his sword is no longer a ninja-toh or katana.
Oh, and also, notice how his hair is... he's got undercut! I love that! I am overall impressed with his new look.
I'm glad that you're excited that Killer Instinct is back, but you're gonna be mighty disappointed. I don't want to say that my opinion takes precedent over anyone else, but the game just looks God awful. And the company that is making it gives me even less hope for the game.

You're right, your opinion does not take precedent over others'. Because it is just an opinion which just so happens to be different than mine. That you say I will be disappointed only reflects your own feelings towards it, not mine, which makes it impossible for you to predict how I will feel towards the game at its release.
Many Devil May Cry fans were disappointed with the new rebooted DmC. I thought it was awesome. So however other people feel about a game doesn't really affect me at all.

I'm excited and am willing to give the game a chance. I do have reservations like a lot of people. Being developed by Double Helix who has done nothing but mediocre games and doesn't have any experience in making fighting games at all. There is still a level of quality when it comes to MS games. Even if its not the AAA title everyone was expecting. I don't think it could be any worst than Tao Feng and Kakuto Chojin. Both of which where developed by MS and while they weren't huge hit, they where games that I think are right up the same all Killer Instinct to a number of fighting game fans.

Er... let's start the positive.
The combo system sounds incredibly promising. The idea of breakers with penalties is a great way to preserve the classic mechanic while taking away everything that made it, well, stupid. The gameplay looks fluid enough to me, which was vital for this installment to properly carry the torch. Still loving the classic theme after all the years.
But on the aesthetic side, what the fuck happened!?!?! Sabrewulf looks bad! Jago looks really bad! EVERYONE LOOKS FUCKING BAD!!! Why does Glacius have rocks coming out of his body! Where the fuck is his face! Why does Sabrewulf look like Mufasa on steroids! Why does Jago have the same haircut as fucking FIRE MAN FROM MEGA MAN ONE!!!!!!
Motherfucking Damn it!

Except Devil May Cry fans weren't complaining about the gameplay. They hated Donte's new shitty look. I hate the look myself, but the game was alright at best. It had it's goods and bads, but far from perfect.
As for KI? Looks pretty bad imo and I wouldn't be surprised if it tanks. I still have nightmares of Silent Hill: Homecoming, man. Sheeot.

I've been waiting 17 years for the return of this franchise, only to find out its an XboxOne exclusive. There goes my MKvsKI dream. My heart has officially been stepped on.
Overall, it looks nice, gives me SF teas, but other than that I truly hope its everything the first two were plus more.
It better have a kickin soundtrack, and it better have B.Orchid ( I know it will duh!) and she better have her Flash no mercy haha.
You would think it would look a bit like MK, but I guess not. Probably SF graphics with No mercys like MK( i feel like theyll be tamed down). Essentially MK/SF combined.

Why? It never did before.
Old KI looked like a primitive 2-generations-ago version of EXACTLY what the new KI looks like (Granted, the character models looked almost like claymation back then rather than looking slightly cel-shaded as they do now, but the idea of them being cartoonish is still there. See, fortunately, 3D animation has come a long way since 1994). I seriously do not get what everyone is bitching about graphics-wise.
Like...just for example, here's a complaint that makes me wonder how many people bitching about how this looks actually remember what the old KI looked like:

When the fuck did Glacius ever have a face, son? Do you remember Glacius? His head always had nothing but eyeholes. Of the three characters in this trailer, he looks the most dead-on to how he looked 20 years ago. Like, he even still kinda looks a little claymation-y like the old graphics did.
And frankly, Jago looks fucking awesome. J-R is right, he never should've been presented as a ninja in the originals, he was always a monk. Not to mention his old outfit being a midriff-baring tanktop and spandex pants like a female aerobics instructor would have worn in the 80's, with Halle Berry Catwoman scratches all over it? Yeah, I'm really sad that look is gone, lemme tell ya...
Note that I'm not even getting this game, I have no intentions of owning an X-Bone, I have no personal stake in whether or not the game is any good at all because I'ma be completely missing out on the final product. I'm only defending it out of a need for honesty. I think you guys sound like you're from another fucking planet when you say it doesn't look like a KI game. Yeah, it looks Street Fighter-y too, but like I said, that's because you've got it backwards, SF4 and xTekken look like KI. KI was doing cartoony 2.5D first. Yeah, the cel-shaded look is cribbed, but that's just the way you do "cartoony" in the 21st century.
As for the blood, KI's finishers were never as gory as MK's, they tended more towards Looney Tunes slapstick, like Orchid flashing her tits.

I know I feel kind of indifferent about it. The first time I saw the trailer I thought OMFG KILLER INSTINCT IS BACK!!! But then I let that sink in and re-watched it a few times, the gameplay looks like it could be solid but I agree wtf is up with the character designs??? They look NOTHING like they did before and not in a good way. With that being said though I would love to see Cinder and Riptor back and I'm sure they probably wont bring back the new KI2 characters (although Kim Wu was my best in KI2

Yea, exactly. They went from Glacius looking like he's wearing a mask to a lifeless blue orb for a face.

The only real difference is a slight nose-esque ridge and the eyes glow.
I kinda like it better the new way, the features being more flat or blended in makes it look more like a face made of/covered in ice or snow.
Honestly, though...grousing over Glacius's lack of nose is THE single most nitpicky costume design complaint I think I've ever participated in on this board, and remember, I was the guy who got mad because they gave Raiden pupils in his eyes in a wallpaper - not even in the actual game, just in a piece of promo art.
P.S. I'm just noticing the white vein/circuity designs on his abs and legs. I really like those, and the spikes being slightly bone-colored. Helps get across more him being an alien lifeform, not just a guy made of ice.

I actually like it. He looks more alien than a hulking ice human. He's much more slender like an alien.
I see a lot of people complain about the art direction of the game, and from the looks of it to me, it looks like Double Helix is basing the new character designs more on the character's bios from the old games rather than how they actually looked. Remember developers where constrained by hardware at the time, so they where limited in their designs.

Excuse me Sir, but when eyes and a nose are the only defining facial features you have, you kinda notice when they're gone.
And rocks coming out of your body are not a subtle detail.

This is a face, dude. It's more defined then it was in the first K1, but it's a face.
But whatever. This does not look anything like this. The former has details that go way beyond what we saw in today's trailer. Maybe it's a quality problem. Perhaps it's a bad picture. But you can't tell me with a straight face he looks like classic Glacius. He doesn't.
Actually, at first glance he looks like an alternate color for Cinder. With fucking rocks coming out of his body.

From the head down, there's nothing wrong with Jago. It's the mask and the hair. It looks borderline S&M.

I can and am, and I feel completely un-conflicted about doing so. He's old Glacius, just with ice/bone spurs that I think look cool and fit the character concept.
You sound a little crazy to me, bro, I don't know what else to tell you.
And anyway, why is it that when MK FAKE reboots, using the same continuity w/ time travel so logically, the characters should be dressed the same as they used to be, so many people are so fucking positive about completely radical and sometimes out-of-character redesigns (or remember the Vincent Proce art? More people loved that than didn't, what the hell?), but when KI REAL reboots, suddenly it's nothing but purists coming out of the woodwork to bitch about Glacius's nose and Jago's hair?

The "should be dressed the same" thing only applies from the outset, theoretically. Changed events can cause different motivations for different characters, which could cause outfit changes. It's an extremely tiny technicality, I know. Aside from that, it should be pretty fucking obvious to everyone that Boon and Co. have no regard for continuity or the storyline of their own creation, so all the redesigns should be filed under the "hey, we can do a lot more than we could back then" category.
Welp, I think the odds of my playing this just went up...if MS ever decides to backpedal from the brutal slapdown they received and release a more consumer-friendly XB0 a few years down the line, that is.

I don't mind change if it looks good. I never expected Glacius to look the same. But don't suck the detail out of him. And the rocks fit? How do rocks fit a character who's defining trait is that he can transform in a puddle of fluid for mobility? Are those things just gonna drag against the ground?
And you know what? I'm not even that pissed about Glacius. Sabrewulf looks far worse.

So Glacius to you as was just a vague blue thing and the other details were just icing on the cake then? I liked the water-esque lines in his arms. Those are gone now. I liked his defined glowing eyes. That's shits gone, too. If you thought they were superfluous details, fucking gravy. I'm not here to convince ya otherwise. However, there's no argument that they're no longer there. I don't think I'm crazy for liking the only details KI1 Glacius had outside of being Blue and white.
The hands are the same from the KI2 model, but technically speaking, KI 1 and 2 Glacius aren't even the same character (I do like the hands, though).

Why you're arguing with this guy is beyond me, he obviously doesn't remember too well how these characters were designed. Jago is the only redesign I enjoy so far except for the haircut but I can cope with that. Sabrewolf looks like a mixture of a fucking muppet and something straight out of avatar, he totally lacks that werewolf feeling IMO. I would be more okay with glacious if he had a more grounded design, this is an Alien themed with water, ice and even a bit of fog, he shouldn't be floating down in his intro or have rocks sticking out of him, and it would be nice for him to have a little more snowy look in some parts like the original.
art style is indeed too much like SFIV, I could care less if the old games used clay models and all that, MK used the same method with goro for example, this current art style just doesn't fit with a KI reboot imo.
