I found this on Hector's twitter page:

"@TStockley god of war 3 looks really violent. we are working to at the very least match that level of GORE."

I hope this puts this T-rated argument to a stop.

How about we all put that in our signature? xD Should stop some "GOre is in the past wow" guys tongue

I doubt it.

I'm waiting for the "WB will make them sanitize it" comments.

Messaged Boon on Twitter about it, and I'll see if he has any kind of answer...

That's a great idea in theory, maybe it will come through for you. Boon loves to be cryptic, as I'm sure you're very familiar with, so I'm not getting my hopes up.

You'd be suprised. He answers people's question sometimes. For instance someone asked him who the DLC characters for mk vs Dc were going to be. He surprisingly answered the question,

Yep. Harley Quinn and Quan Chi, if I'm not mistaken.

My guess is that he answered that question because there's little to no chance that the DLC will even happen, given the current situation.

Indeed he also said that the DLC should've been released months ago and that it is too late now. And that he would love to get permission to show us screenshots of the characters we'll never have... sad

I was hoping we'd at least get a patch, but I guess it'll be Superman/Flash/Scorpion spammers from here on out...

Be careful what you guys wish for... I was all for WB buying Midway until I realized that they're the company that owns the rights to Thundercats (that's an extremely popular 80's toon for you kids out there). Go to Youtube and try to watch even the intro to that show (greatest theme song in the histroy of television, I'm telling you) and you'll see how anally protective WB is of their products--they disabled those vids. Whole episodes, that I understand. Intros? That's ridiculous.

Mark my words, these fan-made MK vids made from in-game sprites will be deleted. I don't even care for those vids, but it still isn't right. If they lay the hell off, I wouldn't mind them acquiring the license, but they won't. BTW, get a defective disc from WB (as I did in one of their DVD compilations awhile back) and they won't even try to remedy the error. WB blows. I really hope Midway's assets go elsewhere... or lots of elsewheres. Break it up for all I care, just keep MK in tact and I'm good.

...And the MK team is only optional. I'd kinda like to see what someone else does with the series. But again, there's that "be careful what you wish for" thing...

Yeah well I don't care about fan videos if I get a good game. Or were you trying to say something else in a strange way because if that's so then please elaborate? confused

MK is Midway's top property, and it's one of the main selling points of the company.

That would kinda suck, we love to play with what they give us, and alot of stuff they use in-game comes from what the fanbase does with something they're done using. If that happened, "what would happen to some of our sister sites?" is a question I would ask. Another one that would be in question is stuff like pre-release content (renders, ect)

Of course I get the point though. Having material spread out all over the place can be looked at as leakage of potential profits for the company.

I hope they don't have to crack down that much once the deal is done though. Part of the sweetness of fandom to any big franchise like this one now days means involvement, creativity, and interactivity with the staff (even if it's just minimal, it's better than not having it), it's not just the products they create anymore. I think the model where fans have a specific place, and developers have a specific place in their relationship to each other has mutated a bit with the modernization in media and communications technologies. Right now, I think the line is blurred a bit by how accessible everyone is to one another.

At the same time though, Boon and team were some of the first to use this new model of fan//developer relationship. So I think they can handle it....hell, they've been handling it extremely well for a very long time now.

Point is, we love talking to them, playing them online, creating something and showing it to them....ect. I wouldn't look at it as a requirement that they should always include in how they approach the fandom, I'd probably look at it like a serious asset to why the game continues to sell well. Accessibility and Interactivity with the MK staff helps solidify sales for MK...

Interviews // Fight Night
FanVids // FanArt
MKast
LIVE & PSN

Those are all great ways for fans to be involved without actually being involved. And it's acceptable. They're all things I definitely wanna see stick around. All virtual connectivity, all pretty much painless I'd imagine.
