Yeah. Setsuka is awesome....I really hope to see her again.
She's a badass, kicking ass with a sword hidden in an umbrella...

Exactly. Who the shit is Katsu and why isn't she a watermelon titted brunette kunoichi?
Seriously why do the Japanese place so much emphasis on school girls and young characters? Is it the implied innocence and niavety? The demure subservient misogynestic servant girl fantasy? I just... I don't get it.

Japanese culture is almost completely alien to non-Japanese people.
Try not to apply your values to it. It won't work.

Well yeah naturally I'm viewing these aspects of popular Japanese culture through a culturally biased perspective as I'm influenced by my native culture. This doesn't mean however that I perceive the predominance of "school girls and children protagonists" as wrong so to speak. Just confusing.
Despite the tone of my previous post (which was more for funzies) I am honestly curious as to the how and why involving this fixation on children heroes and school girls and how it's evolved in Japanese popular culture.

ion i have found tha article. it's quite a bit old sice it was may 12th of this year.
I've been traveling across the country so I missed the news that Soul Calibur V was announced yesterday. I decided to comb through the complete transcript of Producer Hisaharu Tago's presentation in Dubai to see what else has been officially revealed. We know that the Soul Calibur V release date will land somewhere in 2012, but what do we know about Soul Calibur V's new characters?
As we reported yesterday, Sophitia's children will play a central role in the story -- specifically her son Patroklos. Soul Calibur V will take place 17 years after Soul Calibur IV and represents a "generational shift" in the series. As you Soul Calibur fanatics might already know, Patroklos and his sister Pyrrha were touched by the evil of Soul Edge as children and might now be bound to the sword's fate. Perhaps one will fight for good and the other for evil? Additionally, both Soul Edge and Soul Calibur have new designs and are now short swords as opposed to two-handed weapons. The story of Soul Calibur V will touch on this change in some way.
During the presentation, Tago stressed that the developers at Project Soul want the combat in Soul Calibur V to feel light and elegant. Moves and combos will be easier to execute and more approachable for newcomers. Tago also noted that the team is focused on enhancing the online experience.
During the question and answer segment of the presentation, Tago revealed that character creation will return, as well as the appearance of guest characters (Darth Vader and Yoda showed up in Soul Calibur IV). Old favorites like Siegfried will also return, but will have aged significantly.
There isn't much else I know about Soul Calibur V at the moment, but we'll continue to cover Soul Calibur V during E3 2011.
hope this helps.

Derp. You obviously didn't read the part that says no copyrighted characters are allowed.

I was slightly annoyed about Natsu when I first saw her, but she's really grown on me. Apparently she's going to have teleports, (Hopefully not just in her CE), which I really like because I love an evasive character.
Anyway, The trailer from ComicCon implies that Sophie is the main antagonist in this one, which sounds like it's going to make for an epic storyline. I fully expect this game to put MK9 to SHAME in every category: gameplay, netcode (well, that isn't too tough), graphics (esp. graphics), story, and hopefully, this time, less idiocy in guest character selection.

I read that sophitia was killed after the events os SCIV in patroklos' profile. He is trying to look for his sister pyrrah who looks just like sophitia to bring her back or something.

Z.W.E.I seems like an interesting fellow. I want to know more about him and that weird Cyber-Wolf Thing he summons.
And, hot dayum, I just saw Leixia, Xianghua's 15 year old daughter.

Maxi, really? I thought they were trying to get rid of the dead wood.
Voldo will always be awesome.
Not surprised at the returns of Hilde and Tira, but are they actually going to age anyone? I mean with the exception of Siegfried and Mitsurugi.
Not sure on the SSFIV style Ultra Moves though.
Not feeling it overall. But then again I loved SCIV and apparently it was only average.

Yeah I disliked Cervantes in SCIV because he was teleporting and shooting projectiles and acting like some Mortal Kombat character, but these trailers disappoint me because it looks like everyone is acting like Mortal Kombat characters now. Or DBZ characters. Or something dumb.
Plus is anyone unimpressed with the graphics? Somehow it's striking me as at or below SCIV. The new characters ... I don't think they'll be fresh.

Agreed about Voldo.
There's hope for Talim. She'll be like 32, iirc.

I think the graphics look acceptable and a slight improvement from SCIV.
Zwei is easily the best of the new cast, IMO. He looks the coolest and looks loads of fun to play.

I am impressed with the graphics so far. And they could get better later into the game.

Thing is with SCIV is that it was a great looking, if not a nice to look at as previous SCs.
SCV does look a step up.

does anyone know how old voldo is in this game.
yay maxi made it into this game. he is my fav. i'm kinda sad that my girl taki did not make the cut but that new girl is like taki so i'll let it slide.
anyone impressed with the visuals. i think they look smoother and more detailed compared to the 4th game. specifically the arenas.
i would like for a new character to wield a chained sickle that would be cool. he would kinda play like axl from guilty gear and ivy/maxi from sc. since we already have zasamel if he even makes it into the game.
